I'm not sure about all of these 5 star reviews. After Todd sprayed for carpenter ants in my Pacific Heights building, they came back but a few days after his 30-day warranty ran out. Rather than pay another $350, I hired a new pest control guy who is fantastic and treated the area with the ants. When the ants came back (after 30 days), he was happy to return at no charge and spray the area again. He said the tenants used their own treatment which invalidated his spraying. He's wonderful and his name is German from Redwood City - and he was half the price. Never again will I use Exotek after paying $350 for nothing. read more

When the Ant Invasion From Hell occurred in two bathrooms in 2024, I hired Exotek to treat indoors and out. Todd, Nick and Jason are sincere about helping customers get rid of pest issues and not about the bottom line. They use water-based products that are safer for pets and children (ask them to share the ingredients so you can do your own research). They offer information vs making you figure out the right questions to ask. They come with a plan of attack. We unfortunately have / had a silverfish issue resulting from a neighbor's hoarding. Exotek has been out three times now. The issue isn't gone yet but has decreased, and the neighbor is still undergoing abatement. Exotek has been so kind and supportive during this process. Carpenter ant issue in my kitchen! Yesterday afternoon my kitchen window and sink area were infested with carpenter ants (the winged type). After contacting several pest control companies, I choose EXOTEK Pest Defense. Reason being, Todd was very personable on the call, extremely professional and knowledgeable. When discussing the situation, he was very matter of fact and didn't try to oversell me. Scheduling wise, he understood my sense of urgency and offered an appointment first thing this morning. Other companies told me it would be a couple of days or more before they could schedule an appointment. Granted that Todd just serviced my house, but I'm confident the issue is resolved. I called them based on a very strong recommendation from my neighbor, who btw because he has gone through it w/ other subpar pest companies, is a VERY tough cookie to break! It's like what many have already said, Exotek and Todd and his crew are great, highly recommend. For a few mornings, we woke up with something eating our fruits in the kitchen and even gnawing at the wood of our cupboards. Eeeww! We knew we had a problem. I called Exotek and also sent a text. I got a text back immediately from Todd and we scheduled for him to come by the next day for an inspection. On the day of inspection, Todd arrived promptly, inspected all the possible rodent entry points, then did a walk through of what he identified. The next day he sent a cost estimate for 1) sealing up all the different entry points and 2) a 4 week trap program. We signed up for both. Few days later, Todd came and sealed up the entry points, set up traps around the house. We had no luck the first week, but the rodent was caught the 2nd week. Hired to do extermination. Cockroaches back couple of weeks. Sent photos after 30 days. He claimed past 30 day warranty. For $600 would respray. Came once. Then claim I had been unpleasant to sprayer (I barely talked to him), and refused to complete the service. The work was not successful. He argued about "letter" versus "actual" and then stiffed me. I've been having silverfish problems at my home for a few months, and decided to use a professional service. I had an initial chat with Todd, and signed up for 3 visits. Todd said he would do 3 visits over 5 months, and he would do a free follow up should I continue having pest problems soon after his initial visit. He was very friendly, thorough, and professional. He explained how he will treat my home, walked me through how to prevent the further spread of silverfish, and did a thorough job. After his visit, I started seeing silverfish getting caught in traps he left behind. We also started seeing silverfish in places we didn't see before as well. We called and they offered a free follow up service. This time Nick came out, and also provided the same high quality of service that Todd did. We had fleas in our house. We really had no idea how we got them. My wife was getting 5-6 bites a day. We called Exotek on a friend's recommendation. We talked to Todd and he explained everything that Exotek would do to get rid of the fleas. We agreed on a price and the 2 dates that they would come out and spray. About a week before they came out they sent an email saying what we needed to prepare for the spraying. Including sealing open food in bags and storing them in the refrigerator and putting other items in ziplock bags. The day of the spraying they came out and explained what they would be spraying and where. We were advised that we had to be out of the house for at least 5 hours before we could enter the house. They also explained that this was a two step process. The first spray would kill the fleas. They would be back in ten days to spray again to kill the flea eggs that hatched. After the first treatment my wife noticed that the flea bites were down to 1 or 2 every few days. After the second treatment we have had no more flea issues. read more

We recently found out one of our 3 cats is allergic to fleas. It was a wake up call because we weren't seeing any fleas around the house or on the cats. We had been dealing with an ant problem for the past couple of months and - finally - had exhausted all possible options in the "home remedy" department. Enter Todd & Exotek! We are very happy with Exotek's treatment of our ant problem for a house in San Francisco. These guys are great! Honest. Nick came out because I had seen carpenter ants. He said since I hadn't seen them in a few days I should hold off on treatment because I might not even need it. Plus since it is rainy the treatment would be diluted due to the wet surfaces so he recommended reevaluating for later. No charge.
