Very disappointed in the cleaning job. I needed a last minute service so I called this company as I was desperate. The owner (I believe) who answers the phone was very pleasant and professional. The cleaning crew did a terrible job. In fact, I had to redo everything after they left. They used some sort of cleaner on my hardwood floors that left a slippery white film. It took me 3-4 rounds of mopping to get rid of it. One of them had to step out for 10-15 minutes to make a call, which in my opinion was unprofessional. They didn't pay any attention to detail and didn't even do the "basics". I would have honestly given 0 stars if I could. Never again! read more

Horrible experience(s). They did such a horrible job the first time i used them that i thought it had to be just a bad day for them so i hired them once more and unbelievable....they were worse the second time out. Workers always on cell phones...sweeping debri UNDER the fridge, used 409 on my stainless steel refrigerator which has left it with what appears to be permanent streaks. Workers smoked on my back patio then came right back inside leaving my home smelling of cigarettes. Worst of all items were missing from my room. What an absolute disappointment! We'd been using this service for over two years for bi-weekly cleanings. Things were really great at the beginning. Danny and Dora and an assistant cleaned the house themselves and the quality was high. It was great to create a trusted relationship with them. A few months after they started, Danny and Dora started sending their employees to clean in their stead. The quality went down. We complained and they corrected the problem. OK...all is good. Things went pretty well for a while. Sure, there were miscellaneous quality issues over the years, but there were also some happy surprises at times (like the time they cleaned the inside of the fridge). There were also times when they made their own coffee and helped themselves to a pot or two. But hey...caffeine fuels us. No biggie. All this time, we were still making our checks out to the owner of the company (Maria Simpson...aka Dora). At least we still felt like we were protected by the company we'd signed up with years before. Things took a dramatic turn for the worse a couple of weeks ago. We'd given a key to the cleaners and they came and went when they pleased on the agreed cleaning day, but sometimes the cleaning slots were wildly different. Two weeks ago, the cleaners showed up around 4:30 when my co-owner was taking a break between some work. It was his only break in the day and they were going to be cleaning around him. Because enough was enough with the scheduling issues (they also showed up in the early morning a couple of times while we were both showering), he asked them to come back another time. They said they wouldn't be able to reschedule and to work with the boss. We call "the boss" we thought they were talking about...Danny. He then told us that they hadn't been cleaning our house for a while and to call "Sylvia." My co-homeowner called Sylvia and she told us the same: they would be unable to return for two weeks unless they cleaned that day at that time. When he refused, she turned crazy. She even complained about our writing the checks to the wrong person for so long. Sylvia ultimately *fired* us as a customer. SHE fired US! When we had to ask for the key back from the cleaners who were in our house, they were gutted. What sucks is that none of this was their fault. They'd actually been doing a pretty good job and we probably would have kept the service if it weren't for the completely unacceptable response from their boss and the people we *thought* we were doing business with. Buyer Beware! Using this service puts your home at risk. These people had a key to our house and we had no idea who they were. UPDATE: Danny, the owner of the company, suggests in his response to this review that they hadn't been cleaning our home for over a year. Here's what actually happened. from Danny (10/10/12): "WE have made a crew change and Dora has trained them for your last 2 cleanings. nothing should change in the way your place gets cleaned if you notice anything please let me know asap." A crew change does not imply that we are no longer their customers. Since then, we continued to address our payments to his wife. I emailed him twice before I posted this review and he never bothered to respond. Ask yourself if you'd want to be treated this way. Had a monster house cleaning job at my dad's place and was worried about the cost and labor it would require. Danny was extremely helpful and friendly from the get go - he came out that day to give us an estimate (which was very reasonable!), and was able to get his crew out there only days later. The crew worked for about 9 hours and were super friendly and professional, they even managed to clean some areas of the house that were thought to be a lost cause. Danny checked in the following week to make sure we were satisfied and when I mentioned that there were a couple spots that might have been overlooked, he sent some people out the following day to make sure we were 100% satisfied. Wow! I initially called Danny at Bay Area Cleaning to get an estimate on buffing my wood floors, but as we walked around the house I realized how dirty everything was. Now that the house is "sparkly clean", I can really appreciate the difference!! Danny and friends did an amazing job! D Squared, as my wife and I affectionately refer to Dora & Danny, have been with us for nearly a year and we couldn't be happier with the relationship we have developed with them. Oh yeah, almost forgot, we feel very fortunate to have them come to our house every other week and help us keep pace with our own house cleaning. We have used several different services over the last 6 years and needless to say, we are most satisfied with the quality of work we receive from D & D. They are very kind and hard working, and often take care of things that, in my opinion are not their responsibility. For example, prior to their arrival, we try our best to prep the house so they can do the work they are hired to do (e.g. (cleaning the kitchen & bathroom, mopping floors, changing sheets and vacuuming carpets). Unfortunately, our young children will leave toys out, or I will sometimes leave a few dishes in the sink, or some clothes on the floor. I do not feel comfortable when the family rushes out the door leaving the house in this way because it takes their time away from the tasks we have hired them to perform. Yet, they never complain and simple go on about their work with a smile. My wife and I generally have some nervousness about leaving our house to the care of any workers when we are not at home, due to past experiences. However, with Dora & Danny, when we leave for work, I have NO FEAR about breakage, theft or anything that makes me feel as though the security of our home and its contents are at risk. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am to be able to go off into my day without the anxiety associated with the vulnerability of trusting contractors. Highly disappointed. We hired this company to clean the windows of one of our remodels. When Danny came in to discuss the job, he said they do not use blades. He sends people who clean the brand new windows with Windex and blades and they scratch $25,000 worth of brand new Marvin Windows. At first they tried to come "fix" them. Unfortunately after that we had to hire another company to see if the damage could be repaired. We were told the window sashes will have to be completely replaced; Danny said he would call his insurance company and have it taken care of; That was October 6th. Since then we have not been contacted with information regarding our loss. I would not recommend this company to anyone after the damage and lack of follow up/through from them. read more

Sorry to break the pattern here, but my experience was not what others have had. I called Danny and Dora based on the Yelp reviews and was very hopeful after the walk through when they noted everything for the cleaning of our new house prior to moving in. Danny and I even had a discussion about you get what you pay for and so I did not balk at what seemed to be a hefty cost, because I knew there was a lot to do. Here are the specifics: 1) I did not hear from Danny and Dora the day before the cleaning, so I had to call them to find out what time they would be there to ensure they could get into the house, since we were not living there. 2) The house was not cleaned at all, the stainless steel was covered with so much oil it was coated in dust and fibers from whatever else they were using to clean the house. 3) None of the drawers or shelves were cleaned in the kitchen or any of the bathrooms and this was one of the things we specifically discussed. 4) There were streaks on the mirrors and the mirror behind the scones was not cleaned. 5) When I called Danny, it was clear neither he nor Dora had been by the house to QA the work. I paid a hefty sum for this cleaning and was a potential new weekly cleaning customer as well, so really? no QA? Danny did offer to send someone over right away to correct the issues, but I was in the middle of a move and did not have the time to QA their work and stand around and point out what they missed, that is was I expected the owners to do. I paid 30% less to Perfect Shine House cleaning for the move out cleaning on the house we sold which was 300 square feet bigger and they did a MUCH better job. I read more

For a place with 4.5/5 stars on yelp, I expected so much more. I called Bay Area Leading Green Cleaning Company (wow, what a long name) on June 26, 2016 (Sunday) and left a voice message saying that I needed my house deep cleaned since our current tenants are moving out on June 30, 2016. I knew they were closed that day so I hoped to hear back from them the next day (Monday) but since I didn't get a call back, I called them again and left another voice mail at 7:30 PM. To my delight, I got a return call from Danny an hour or so later and explained to him my situation and how I would like for them to deep clean my house on July 1. He then told me to text the details and that he would need to inspect my house first before giving me a quote (which is strange since other places I've called in the past gave me an immediate rough estimate). However, I agreed and texted him the details of my house and even confirmed with him the date and time he would come to inspect it as well as the date and time to come clean it. I thought we would be on the same page since I made sure to be very specific so that there would be no confusion whatsoever and he responded "Confirmed" multiple times. I specifically asked him "Will you be coming to evaluate the home June 30th after 4 PM so you can clean the house July 1?" to which he said "Yes". I was ready to support this business and have them come clean the house and told my current tenant about this business but they wanted to have a quick estimate to make sure they will be okay with the pricing; to me, this was very reasonable and so I texted Danny again. Danny is not good at replying and I had to ask him twice about the rough estimate before he replied but he was still adamant about having to look at the house before giving me a rough estimate. I didn't want to push the quote subject any further so I dropped it and reiterated the plan to make sure he and I were on the same page. I asked again, "Okay. Can you please confirm that you will be there at 4 PM tomorrow (June 30)? My brother will be there waiting for you. He will wait for your call." to which he replied, "Confirmed". Simple enough, right?? WRONG! My brother lives in Foster City; not too far away from the house so he had been waiting at his own house. I live in San Jose so at around 7 PM I gave my brother a call and asked how things with Danny went and how much the estimate was to which my brother replied "The guy didn't even show up or call." At this point, I am very, very upset. I immediately texted Danny "I do not know why you did not come at 4 PM today like you said you would but forget it. We do not need nor want your business. Have a good day." Danny texted back an entire hour later with some nonsense excuse of "It didn't pop up on my calendar" and "I wish you would've called me at 4:15 PM" along with "For some reason you're in the calendar for this minute 11 PM tonight the alarm on my phone did not alert me" and proceeded to tell me that he could come by and look at the house "now". I couldn't even believe what I was reading. Why is it MY responsibility to CONSTANTLY remind a business to drop by my house when it has been confirmed by the business owner multiple times?? You need me to be your personal alarm clock? No way! How irresponsible, unprofessional, sloppy, and disappointing! I'm extremely upset with the way the entire situation went when I had been so specific and straight to the point with every single message I wrote. It was literally fool proof! Danny did apologize several times but what's an apology followed by an entire paragraph of useless excuses that don't make any sense? It doesn't make up for the lost time and effort on your business, that's for sure. I don't understand how a business can even operate this way. I would never recommend this place to any of my friends or family, ever. There is no excuse for this sort of thing - I don't care if you are busy with fourth of July - if a customer and the business owner confirmed with each other MULTIPLE times about an appointment, you should keep that damn appointment and NOT waste someone's time. It would have been way better for Danny to have told me from the get go "I'm sorry, but we are very busy with other last minute bookings so we will not be able to take you". I honestly would rather have preferred that and not have wasted all this damn planning. Thank God my brother had a backup plan to another cleaner. Would give ZERO stars if possible. read more

BAD, BAD, BAD. My experience with Danny and his crew was THE WORST! I can't even believe the reviews he has gotten on this site. Nice guy, seemed competent, was able to pull together a crew in about 36 hours for a good price. We told him we were having a small graduation party on Saturday evening and would love to have the work done in time for that. We agreed to a deep clean inside and out, and it sounded like it would take one day with a crew of about 6. Danny committed to the Friday before the party. By the time we got home from my daughter's graduation ceremony that Friday at noon, the "crew" seemed to be in full swing. The van they showed up in was dirty, beat-up, no windows and black graffiti sprayed on the outside. The guys in the crew had a lot of teeth missing and kinda looked like they just got out of prison, they smoked in our front yard. By 4 PM, after 6 guys cleaning for 6 hours - it looked like barely anything was accomplished. One of the cleaners said "Oh, didn't Danny tell you this was a two-day job and we will back tomorrow?" Uh, no he didn't. "And by the way - can I borrow your washer/dryer to wash our rags and my t-shirt?" Uh, ok. We holed up downstairs while they stayed until 8 PM, saying they'd be back Saturday morning at 9:30 AM and would probably work another full 8 hours. When we looked around the house and outside, it looked like very little had been done after ten hours of the "crew" in every room of our house and backyard. They sloppily power-washed the outside of the windows, left the screens out of the windows, broke a window handle, cleaned 2 out of 10 kitchen cabinets, wiped a few walls, and threw a bunch of our toiletries in a laundry basket. They moved around all the sunroom furniture and yet didn't do anything to clean in there nor put the furniture back in place. They didn't even touch the whole downstairs area of the house! IT'S AN 1800 SQ. FT. HOUSE, PEOPLE!!!!! By noon the next day, they still hadn't shown up. I called and texted Danny but did not get a reply for over three hours, finally a text saying he didn't know what happened, "would look into it." My partner and I spent 5 hours cleaning the house - then Danny finally called at 6:18 PM to say he screwed up and his crew went to another house by mistake. He left his equipment in our yard, all the screens out of the windows and a thick layer of roof and gutter dirt showered all over our backyard walkway and hot tub. Danny showed up with his crew at 8:30 that Saturday night (during my daughter's graduation party) offering to give us a free cleaning just so he wouldn't get a bad review. We told him we did all the work, and if he would just come back to put the screens in and clean up the backyard dirt we were DONE.....nothing paid, just please leave. Well it's 1 PM Sunday and Danny still has not shown up to put the screens in. Guess we have another job to do today. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. read more

Sloppy cleaning, dragging full trash bags along the carpets (when we have two garbage cans on wheels to use), garbage cans in plain sight left full. The worst part was that we'd have to manually empty our recycling dumpster after every visit, as they threw trash/non-recyclables in there every single time (it's all on video.) Wow, my house looks great!!! Hired Danny & Dora to do a really deep clean of my house since I've lived there for 3 years without really doing the hard stuff (cleaning the trash cans, taking all the stuff out of my bathroom drawers and scrubbing them, cleaning the window sills, inside the fridge & oven, etc.). To make things worse I really hadn't cleaned my house at all for a few months (other than a halfhearted vacuum here and there). Danny & Dora were really easy to contact, we emailed & texted a few times, they came to check out the house and gave me a quote in about 5 minutes, and they got me on the schedule for just a few days later. They were also very understanding when I accidentally missed the first appointment we had set up. As an added bonus, Danny & Dora are both native English speakers (certainly not a must in a house cleaning service, but it sure is nice to have!) They were very kind and professional and I totally trusted them in my house for 4 hours while I wasn't there. There were so many things in my house that I had tried scrubbing for myself many times in the last few years, and had just given up on ever getting clean (my shower doors had hard water stains, some of the metal surfaces in my bathroom had rust stains, there was maple syrup stickiness that had leaked and dried onto one of my kitchen cabinet drawers, etc.). Imagine my surprise when I came home to find all of those things fixed as well! Wow! So much better than I could have even hoped for. It wasn't cheap at $500 for a 1,000 sq ft house but I certainly got my money's worth, and I was so grateful to find a professional, responsive, efficient company and get such quick and effective service. I really liked the cleaning crew that they sent to our home and they usually did a good job, but we were monthly clients and they forgot us or had to reschedule cleaning appointments (after I contacted them) on three different occasions. They also showed up once when we weren't scheduled to have a cleaning. I'm sure if you have an open schedule for cleaning services they would be fine, but they didn't work out well for us and our final text communications with Dora were borderline unprofessional. Got the job done at the last minute for me which was great, and I can't complain about the pricing, but whatever they used on the tiling in the office made the adhesive of the flooring tiles boil out of the edges and created these salt mounds on the seams of all the tiles. I would call them again, but I would warn them about the organic cleaner and the reactions it has with inorganic poorly sealed floor tiles. Not their fault for lack of information from us. read more

It was last minute and I needed a cleaning service to do a quick clean in between tenants. My in-laws are the owners and they were out of town. The previous tenants had cleaned the place themselves, but it needed some extra attention in the kitchen and bathrooms. They also left a huge pile of trash out front, of which, the new tenants would arrive before the trash was to be picked up. The good: I had spoken to Danny before and he said that a last minute job was possible, and the price was reasonable. When he saw me fret about the pile of trash, he said he'd be able to haul it all away and when we looked at the condition of the caulking around the tubs, he said he'd be able to recall both tubs. I felt comfortable enough with leaving them in the unit while I ran some errands. Unfortunately, the old caulking took longer than expected to scrape off so Danny had to come back the next day to finish. I felt comfortable enough to leave him the key to lock up and we'd settle up the following day. Danny also mentioned before that they do everything, all kinds of cleaning and household handyman work. This came in handy since after the new tenants moved in, they sent me a list of items that needed repair. Danny saw that we had an old washer in the garage of the unit, so as trade, he would take care of the list of items for the tenant. The bad: when Danny had come back the following day to finish the tub caulking, he took the washer with him. Call me naive, I know, I should've made him wait to finish the list of repairs before "paying him" but since he was so attentive and responsive the first time, I didn't stop him. That was my mistake. The day he was scheduled to arrive to tend to the repairs, he was late. Ok fine, I let it slide. And since it was just him that day, he ended up staying for quite some time but in the end, didn't finish so we had to schedule a day and time for him to come back, again. During the job, he also had to go to Orchard to buy some things so that took time away as well. The ugly: the day he was due to come back to finish the work (that I already payed for), he texted last minute saying he had to postpone due to another big job he had to finish. Of fine again, we rescheduled. This time, I wouldn't be there to open the door and instead, my mother-in-law would. Well, Danny didn't show when he was supposed to and when I called him, he said he could head that way now. We must've been bumped again. So again, had to reschedule for the following day. And again, late, but this time, he showed. I again had to inconvenience my mother-in-law to wait for him to let him in. While he was there, he again needed to go to Orchard (we have one 2 blocks away)....again, again, again! Prior to him leaving, my mother-in-law asked if he was going to come back to clean up the mess he made upstairs (fixing an item on the list) and he said yes. But when he was gone for 30 minutes, she had enough. She cleaned up his mess and left his equipment outside. She called me and told me she didn't have all day for him and that I needed to tell him not to come back. The conclusion: Danny is a nice enough guy that's willing to help you with whatever job you present him. I understand that he's a small business and he's trying to make money by taking on as many jobs as possible however, this is usually at some sort of expense of the client (me and you). It seems that last minute things are more his style but if he doesn't finish, or if you need to set up something in advance, it will ultimately be a fail. Expect to wait, a long time. If he were only honest with me from the get-go, I may have been able to help him out, but he didn't provide me that courtesy. In the end, I had to let him go as a cleaner, will likely not be using him for any future jobs as I had initially hoped, and worst off, he made me look bad to my mother-in-law, something I definitely will not tolerate. If you want to hire them, a one-shot deal is good but nothing beyond that. And expect to wait. read more

I was so happy with the communication and customer service the last time I used these guys to clean my place that I was glad to be able to use them again, and give them more notice this time. When I first contacted and asked if they were available in a week or so I received a quick response that they were, and I sent them the address and relevant house info. Two days of no response and I checked I again...two days after THAT they responded and said they still had openings. I asked what their openings were--no response. Followed up the next day--no response. Two days later I told them I was going to find someone else because it was getting ridiculous. I never heard from them again. As a business owner myself, I know it can be exciting to have your business take off. But it shows a real lack of experience and proper management when a business just says yes to everything before they know if they can handle the workload. Plenty of responsive and professional cleaners out there--don't waste your time (so much time!) with these guys. read more

Danny and his crew are simply awesome!!! I had a whole house "detail" done post-construction...we had dust and dirt basically all over...it was in drawers, on the ceiling, in light fixtures, etc. Danny and his crew went through the house top to bottom, inside and out. They covered every nook and cranny and even pressure washed my bbq grill. Highly recommended and a "must do" for any post-construction project. You won't be disappointed! read more
