I strongly believe that with all the care we received at Sequoia, as well as the living attention we gave him that our boy got 2 more years of life than was first expected. We have all respect and thanks for what Dr. Linda and her staff did for our est brave little guy. In our opinion, Sequoia is the place that did everything they could to keep our cat thriving and Dr. Jorgensen will always figure as a hero in our boy's fight against Lymphoma and we are grateful to have had her gentle and intelligent care for him.

We had been taking our 2 dogs to Sequoia Vet Hospital (Dr. Jorgensen's practice) for many, many…read moreyears but now we are changing vets entirely. Things hadn't been going as well as they could at Sequoia for a while but then I discovered they had missed some signs of very serious illness in one of our dogs. This happened when I decided to take my dog to UC Davis for a second opinion. Well, I ended up having to leave her there for 5 days and she had to have emergency surgery! Our dog was so ill we were told she may very well not survive. (Thankfully, she did because of the wonderful staff at UCD hospital.) Sequoia did the follow-up care and I was very disappointed with that as well, particularly Dr. Jorgensen (AGAIN, missed something later found on a second visit to UC Davis). Dr. J. had horrible "bedside manner" and was indifferent to the concerns of my husband and I, and irritated by our questions. She also hadn't read our dog's records from UCD and therefore our visit with her was a waste of our time and money because she couldn't answer our questions and nothing new was learned. Dr. J. insisted on a further ultrasound in spite of my hesitation (I felt it was unnecessary and one had already been done at UCD just one month prior). I later confirmed from UCD this ultrasound was pointless. This ONE visit with Dr. J. cost $534. Money is no object with our pets but enough is enough! We have a cabinet full of medications that later turned out to be unnecessary or we were given far more than we needed. Sometimes the expiration date is only a few months away so what is left has to be tossed, instead of used as needed at a later time. Sometimes, no expiration date is given at all. We have 2 dogs and they have never made an effort to coincide their annual exams, shots, or medications. New (and more expensive) drugs are prescribed when ones that worked previously (and we might still have some of) are not considered. Plus, the office manager, Eva-Marie, has become rude and cold.

Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the most upsetting experiences I've had with a veterinarian. My cat had gotten covered in car oil and likely ingested some of it because she was scared and I couldn't catch her right away. By the time I finally did, she had gone downhill. She had lost weight, was drooling, her tongue was sticking out, and her mouth looked burned and ulcerated. I was scared and brought her in because I needed help fast. When Dr. Saini looked at her, it felt like he wrote her off almost immediately. He looked in her mouth briefly and told me it was a tumor and that she would not have a good quality of life. I asked more than once if it could be an ulcer instead, especially because of the car oil exposure and the burns in her mouth, but he still said it was a tumor. There was very little explanation, very little compassion, and no real sense of urgency. What bothered me the most was that I had to point out that she was clearly having respiratory distress before that was even addressed. Only after I kept asking questions did labs and X-rays come up. By that point, I honestly had no confidence in the care being provided and chose not to move forward with testing there. The next day, I took her to another vet. They diagnosed an oral ulcer, not a tumor, and started treatment right away, including IV fluids and oxygen. That was heartbreaking because I feel like her care was delayed when she needed help the most. I know not every diagnosis is easy, and I don't expect any doctor to be perfect. But I do expect compassion, urgency, and a willingness to actually listen when an animal is clearly suffering. I left feeling like my cat was dismissed instead of helped, and I would not feel comfortable bringing another pet here.

She does check her email once a day but it would've been nice to have something akin to a nurse advice line since they aren't open as many days.

They do not have the anxiety that comes with going to the vet for any reason. They are comfortable, in their own home, with their favorite people. It's also easier for their caretaker. You have time to process. You don't have to jump out of the room for the next appointment, deal with the mundane of payment on the way out, this is taken care of in advance of your appointment.
