They are closed on Sundays and only open a half day on Saturdays, which can make urgent situations challenging, but my experiences with their staff have shown that they genuinely care about the animals they treat. Another perspective is that many pet owners feel emergency hospitals can charge dramatically more than regular clinics, making them seem like a rip-off for relatively simple procedures. I understand that clinics have schedules and capacity constraints, but I was surprised that no effort was made to accommodate a senior dog in distress, even for what appeared to be a brief procedure. I had hoped for a bit more compassion and understanding given the circumstances. Compassion and flexibility are qualities many pet owners look for in a veterinary practice, especially when dealing with urgent situations involving elderly animals. While the staff was polite, the lack of any attempt to help beyond providing another phone number left me feeling unsupported at a stressful time. The whole team at Tama has always been so wonderful to us, including the nurses and front desk. After having dogs for 10 years, we've experienced a variety of different animal hospitals, emergency rooms and doctors. Some of them amazing and some of them leaving much to be desired. We learned that no one can advocate for your pet better than you, so communication & openness to learn is key. Our three dogs have always had a wonderful experience there and we're grateful to have found them. That being said, Tama Vet is an awesome place to have as a family doctor for your fur babies. We have always kept up with Milo's medical care, including exams, vaccines, testing, and preventative medications. In February, we paid for a heartworm screening specifically to maintain his heartworm prevention prescription. The invoice itself states that the annual heartworm test is "essential to test negative annually to be eligible to prescribe heartworm prevention." Nowhere did it mention that an additional physical exam would also be required before approving the medication refill. After multiple prescription refill requests through Petco went unanswered, we called the clinic ourselves. One front desk staff member told us they would respond to the request, only for another employee to later call back with a rude and dismissive attitude instead of resolving the issue professionally. The entire interaction felt disrespectful and unnecessarily confrontational. What is most frustrating is that this entire situation could have been avoided with simple, clear communication from the clinic. Instead, we were left scrambling to get our dog's medication while being treated like a problem rather than long-term clients who have consistently provided proper care for our pet. When concerns were raised, there was no accountability, no genuine apology, and no meaningful attempt from management to make things right. We even requested a refund or account credit for the heartworm test because the additional exam requirement was never disclosed at the time of service, yet we still received no real response. Veterinary clinics should treat both pets and owners with professionalism, respect, and compassion. Unfortunately, our experience with Tama Vet Hospital reflected the opposite. We will be taking Milo's care elsewhere and cannot recommend this clinic to other pet owners.

The front desk communication also felt impersonal and inattentive, as the girl asked me questions about my dog while facing her computer, which made interaction difficult. I was recommended an extensive treatment plan involving multiple injections without a clear diagnosis from the veterinarian, so I did not feel comfortable proceeding with it and only agreed to a single antibiotic injection The only positive part of the visit was the veterinary technician who administered the injection -- she was extremely kind, friendly, and reassuring, and made an otherwise stressful visit feel a bit more comfortable. After 1 year and no results we decided to look elsewhere. In the past three months we were able to get better results and are finally seeing improvements. Glucose levels went from the 300-700 range (crazy I know) to 149 and hope to get even better. They kept my dog in an oxygen tank overnight and the next day advised us that she would not make it. I understand that vets advise humane euthanasia but they shouldn't guilt trip the patient's owners into it. Also please know how your pets act because vets and vet techs don't know them as much as you do! Our dog usually pants heavily and gets really anxious and the vets perceived it as her struggling to breathe and even kept advising us that euthanasia was the only way. We opted to bring her home and get a second opinion with her primary vet (who advised us that she was still bright and alert and needed treatment, not euthanasia!) Her primary vet also saw red flags with all the different medication she was given and obviously would cause her body to react negatively. We could have lost her that day to euthanasia but thank goodness we followed our instinct and brought her home. It's been 5 days now and she's starting to eat and drink and get her strength back. When it's time - they will let you know. Humane euthanasia is beneficial, yes. But know how your pets are and always get a second opinion if you're not sure!

I went to numerous Vets and while others were price gouging me, Silicon offered the BEST & HONEST quotes. Two years ago, my dog developed some masses on her chest and legs. As I stressed everyday about this, I finally decided to take my dog to Silicon Valley. I remember the day, it was a Sunday. Dr. Gahra gave me a great quote and even said he can remove them that same day. I said let's do this. Let me tell you, they really took care of my dog while she was in their hands. It's been 3 weeks since post op surgery and my dog is doing great! Can't express how thankful and happy I am with the end result. Her test results came back benign too! Gave her some antibiotics and Furosemide. Sent me off with 3 other medications to start the next day. Unfortunately, when I got home she got worse. I took her straight to an emergency pet hospital where she sadly passed away. I understand that something could have been missed and with her condition and age anything could have happen. I called them the next day and let them know what happened. I kindly asked if they could at least refund me for the 3 medications I was not able to use, since my new vet bill was going to extremely higher. They refused and said there is nothing they can do. I guess keeping the money is worth more than having a heart. Rest in Peace Pixie!

Yesterday's experience was the final straw. Off the bat, just starts listing all these things my dog needs. He's telling me like 10 things at once--and I just needed to take my dog in for her annual so that they can refill her allergy medication. My POV is this doctor just tries to squeeze you dry any way possible. Feels like a dentist when they tell you need all these other procedures when you go in for a cavity. I was given medications and charged unrelated to actual treatment. Walgreens refused to fulfill the prescription as it was printed and not even signed. I wasted hours driving to even find one pharmacy over weekend to give me ointment. I have not seen any vet clinic this incompetent. Everything felt rushed, and I wasn't given a chance to fully understand or consent meds given. Communication and transparency need serious improvement. Would not recommend. They are there to bag the money doesn't seem to care about pets.
