This place is a beer joint with a full bar. Some of the tables had mason jars with wilted flowers and some did not. There were cloth napkins which is a big plus. Be careful since the floor has uneven places--one of which I almost tripped on. We had theTempura Shrimp appetizer that was very good. My hubby got the pork chop that looked dry and overcooked with Gouda grits that were plated with an ice cream scope and as thick as mud. The server was pleasant and attentive. This is not my kind of eatery.

On this visit, we were there for the Bastrop Music Festival. As before, their burgers are great, on buns that they get fresh daily from the best bakery in town. As before, however, we did not care for their 602 (home-brew) beers. We ordered a Belgian-style ale and an IPA (the last two we'd tried here weren't on the menu). These weren't flat (like last time), but we did not like the taste, even though we love these styles of beer normally. We drank what we could, then ordered two Stella Artois. One person at our table did like the local beer, but they had ordered a strawberry cream ale that tasted like Strawberry Quik or Frankenberry cereal, which isn't what we look for in a beer. I'm upgrading from 3 to 4 stars for two reasons: the service (which we really appreciated), and the fact that we had such a good time watching live music there. We were seated in the back porch close to the band. People were dancing in the alleyway and everywhere. A good time was had by all.

The food is really great. The service is hit or miss today at lunch a lady with dark hair who waited on us was seemingly in a very bad mood and wasn't very friendly or warm... I wanted to try the bread pudding to go but it was given to me cold and hard like a brick - I was expecting it warm fluffy and ooey gooey- so I sent it back and she wa irritated we wanted separate checks - I have met the owner and he is so wonderful and friendly and we just love him! I love the Rueben rolls - they do really great catering, as well. The ambiance is dark and moody but it livens up at night with live music - the black and blue burger is super good the garlic fries did not taste like garlic though the ingredients are quality and fresh - the bartender Jackson is fun and friendly and I wish the service was faster during lunch hours

Mixed opinions, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with a 4. It was more like a 3.5. Just good enough and a little forgettable. Setting: Quaint and comfortable. Service: alright. Overall value: great. Cream of Mushroom Soup: good. Mashed Potatoes: the best part of the meal. Chicken Fried Chicken: dry meat, mushy bland topping. Asparagus: over-seasoned, under-cooked. Burger: mediocre Burger Bun: the second best part of the meal. (I ate some of it plain because my friend is doing keto.) Fries: over-seasoned, mediocre texture.

I loved the whole experience. It's such a cute space and has that elevated feel without feeling overly fancy or uncomfortable. We started with the grilled focaccia and Watermelon on Fire, and both were excellent. The watermelon was one of those dishes that sounds a little questionable on paper but completely works once you taste it. Sweet, savory, a little spicy and really fresh. We also had the Texas quail, which was beautifully cooked and full of flavor. I had the blackberry bourbon cocktail and loved that too. What really stood out during dinner though was how personable the service was. We never felt rushed and our server actually engaged with us, which made an already good dinner feel even better. I went back this past Saturday for brunch with my sister, her husband and my fiancé. It was definitely a livelier experience with more people around, but still a really nice atmosphere for a Saturday brunch. The service was good and everything came out as expected, although it didn't have quite the same personal touch that I experienced during my first visit. Between the four of us we got to try quite a bit. The shrimp and grits were rich, buttery and seasoned really well. The smoky pork tostada was packed with flavor and the potatoes on the side were honestly some of my favorite bites on the table. The French toast and fried chicken was as good as it looked, with crispy chicken, fruit and just enough sweetness. The only thing I wasn't completely sold on was the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was brown, which threw me off because that's not what I normally expect from sausage gravy, and the biscuits were a little too dense for my preference. The flavor wasn't bad at all, it just wouldn't be my first choice the next time I go. Other than that, Store House has been a hit for me on both visits. The food feels thoughtful without trying too hard, the plates are beautiful, and the restaurant works just as well for a dinner with your sister as it does for brunch with a group. I'll definitely be back.

Food and drinks: Good selection in both areas. The food we ordered arrived well plated. The food tasted good, was seasoned and flavourful. The side of grits was especially tasty. The restaurant also makes its own version of ranch dressing and ketchup. It was super tasty. We didn't try any cocktails but they looked good. Pricing: $$/$ - worth the experience.

I do love Moscow Mules anyway but the fact that they had a small menu of different ones was great to see! This drink Steve and I shared and we both enjoyed it immensely. This business is more of a taphouse with lots of guest taps and lots of bottles and cans to go. Many of them are from local breweries or Texas breweries so that made this a great stop when we are hanging out in the hotel room and wanting to share a beer. It can be misleading coming to places like this that they are a brewery that makes their own beer but I saw no sign or indication of such a thing here. But since we weren't local there were plenty of brews to try that were local. I got a great Pecan Porter that was very tasty and a nice beer to unwind to despite it being a bit warm outside (which is usually when I want light beers). The place was fairly busy but Bastrop is a bit of a touristy town and the location of this place is right downtown so it makes sense. Anyway it was a good experience coming here!
