First time visit! Walked in about 9:20pm not realizing they closed at 10pm...but to our surprise we got exceptional service. Alondra our server was great & attentive! We had the white queso & chips for an appetizer; the queso has great flavor a little heat on the end but delicious! He ordered the Costa Azul with white rice & salad. The chipotle sauce was amazing! Great flavor! I ordered the Gobernador tacos with Mexican rice. I'm still in shock of how great the flavor was! Absolutely delicious ! Beautiful decor and great location - would definitely recommend!!

Everything was very good and delicious was disappointed on how chewy the the octopus I got, they don't know how to cook the octopus correctly. That's the only complaint I have everything else was very delicious that cooked. They have need to learn how to cook that octopus a little better I've had octopus at a lot of different places and it's very tender

Have to visit here again soon! The food was delicious! Everything we ordered we really enjoyed! It's hard going out as a family of 4 to restaurants and dining in with 2 young kiddos, this place made us feel welcome and was very roomy! Bright decorations, good amount of parking, attentive employees, yummy food! I don't think you can ask for more.

Ample parking, cute clean hoppin spot! We needed to find a spot to eat in Bastrop and feel like we found a new favorite spot. The Micheladas were insanely good. The service was great! Krystal took care of us and made good recommendations for menu options. There are a lot of options. There is a ton of seafood as well as non seafood options. I had the ceviche tostada and we also had the fish tacos. We wil definitely return.

Mi Amigo and I stopped in for a Shimp Cocktail , Oyster Shooters and drinks. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Mike the bartender. We sat at the bar and ordered Two (2) Palomas that were served in their Cantaritos that were super nice. Mi Amigo ordered Two (2) Oyster shooters that had an amazing juice marinade and were very fresh. Bomb tasting! I had a Shrimp Cocktail that was DELICIOUS! The shrimps were large and fresh! They came with my favorite crackers too (Saladitas)!! I also love the fact that they had AMI jukebox and I was able to play a variety of my music. Crystal also waited on us and was very friendly and always had a SMILE. Her and Mike had great vibes and made for great night! Thank you for making our visit a great one. As a follow up to prior reviews, had yet another delightful meal here. I usually don't return to restaurants and order the same thing, but I now have a favorite order that I rarely deviate from and that keeps me coming back. It's a two-item order: a beverage and a plate. The beverage is a michelada (La Quita Cruda) and the meal is an "al mojo de ajo" plate with the pescado (a tilapia fish filet). It's perfect every time. La Quita Cruda translates to the hangover cure. But you don't need a hangover to enjoy it! It's a michelada served with a side of aguachile. Michelada is like a Mexican Bloody Mary but with 12 oz of beer instead of 1 oz of vodka (though they do have Tito's vodka, too). Aguachile is a Northern Mexican dish that's a lot like ceviche: shrimp (or fish) marinated in chiltepin peppers, lime juice, salt, and slices of cucumber and red onion. It's awesome! Al mojo de ajo means preparing your fish fillet with tons of garlic and onion. And yes, they have breath mints by the front counter, lol. It comes with two sides. I get rice and salad. They offer white or Spanish rice and surprisingly I prefer their white rice, which looks simple but has amazing flavor. The salad is shockingly simple. Romain, carrot and tomato. Nothing more. It should be ashamed because it's completely undressed. (Not even a spritz of oil.) But it's very comfortable with itself, and is boldly comfortable au naturale! My wife got the fried fish fillet, which comes with a creamy, spicy chipotle sauce. She has gotten that before and really enjoys it. Our server, Avelino, was attentive, the music was lively, and we had a good time there, as we always do.

    Oyster on the 1/2 shell.

Excellent. Fresh oysters and a melody of shrimp. Service a bit slow to start with but waiter was nice. Noise level awful . Very loud.

Absolutely our new favorite restaurant!!! Crystal was our waitress. Excellent food and best service. We had mixed fajitas. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend

I recommended this place 100%. It is so different from typical TexMex. A refreshing change. I got octopus and shrimp and fish. It was called the Molcajete el Sinaloa. It was a great presentation, incredibly tasty, and enough for two meals for me. I definitely wanna come eat here again. I saw the tilapia fish with the head in the tail and that's what I'll be getting next time. The staff was incredibly nice.

We stopped in today for lunch. The restaurant has a really fun vibe with cut outs and a neon sign to take pictures with when you enter. Our teens really liked this. My family thought the chips were on the salty side and that the salsa tasted more like tomato sauce than salsa. My ceviche was nice and cold, but was a little on the dry side for my taste. Probably wouldn't order it again, but the avocados on top were fresh. Our service was alright, but she didn't refill our kids drinks or ask if they would like another one. All of our hot items were nice and hot. A pretty nice place that we'd try again.

The food: where to even start.....I hit the jackpot here. The salsa tasted like it was freshly made and served warm, so so good. I've traveled all over Texas and across the U.S., and I can say without hesitation that Las Cocinas Mexican Grill is hands-down the BEST Mexican restaurant I have ever been to -- and that includes all of Austin. My family and I come here several times a week, even though we don't live close by. That alone should tell you how incredible this place is. Must-try favorites (do NOT skip these): The Margaritas - Very strong and absolutely perfect. Order them half & half (half on the rocks, half frozen). Trust me -- you'll thank me later. Nachos Al Carbon (Appetizer) - The beef fajita meat is out of this world. Tender, flavorful, and unforgettable. Beef Fajitas Cremosas (Entrée) - Get them with EXTRA sun-dried tomatoes. Oh. My. God. I have never had anything like this in my life, and it's something I crave several times a week. Stuffed Jalapeños - So good I sometimes order them as my entire meal. And the onion rings they're served on? Easily the best onion rings I've ever had anywhere. Beyond the food, the staff is absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, they make you feel like family -- warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy you're there. That kind of service is rare, and it's one of the many reasons this place is so special to us. And yes -- I always forget to take pictures of my food because I eat it before I remember to take photos for a review . That should tell you everything you need to know about how good it is. We are incredibly thankful for Las Cocinas. It's not just our favorite Mexican restaurant -- it's our favorite restaurant, period, and the best in the entire area by a mile. Perfect in every way.

The wait staff is friendly and checks up on us regularly, They have a chalk board with specials. A nice bar - Today their specials included a $5 margarita. But I also like their generous Mexican martini (brought out in a proper shaker) and their Fridarita - an ode to Ms. Kahlo featuring hibiscus (jamaica) and decorated with a flower. It has to be the most interesting margarita I've ever encountered. And it tastes great. My wife had the menudo and a crispy chicken taco. She enjoyed both. And the taco was larger than most. I came back to my favorite here, the shrimp relleno - a blister, peeled poblano pepper (not battered or fried) filled with shrimp and ranchero sauce and served with white rice and lovely, grilled vegetables (zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, etc.). The whole dish works so well together you could mix it all up and it would still be devine. So... we keep coming back.

We were greeted and seated right away. The salsa that came with the complementary chips were outstanding. However, the authenticity and vibe were unfortunately lackluster. I ordered my meal and I told the waitress I did not want any cheese in my fried stuff avocado meal and when the meal came she assured me there was no cheese which she was wrong. I couldn't get another meal made right for some reason so I unfortunately did not finish my meal. Unfortunately, I will have to pass on this establishment.

And they offer both options every day/all day, which is great. She'll come back with her sister to enjoy it again. I had two breakfast tacos: one with egg, sausage and cheese and the other with migas. I really loved the migas. While the first taco was unremarkable, the migas was great. It was perfect, in fact. And it really celebrates their home made corn and flour tortillas. The only thing I didn't like was the salsa. It tasted like canned tomatoes and it was a wee bit salty and not very spicy. I really liked the migas, though. It was made with fresh jalapeño and had just the right amount of heat without needing any salsa. So I think this is one of those places that does some things very well... enough to build up a solid base of regulars, even though some of their other offerings were disappointing, like improperly reheated enchiladas. But if you know what to order, you can really enjoy this place. Oddly enough, they have chorizo on the menu, but don't list it among the available proteins on the breakfast taco menu, which I personally find very strange. Chorizo and egg is such an iconic breakfast taco offering. I'll bet they'd do it justice.
