This was our first visit with my puppy, who had an appointment to get a round of vaccinations. This place gets quite busy, as I there was not much availability when I initially called for an appointment. I guess during Covid, they have implemented certain protocols. You pull in and have to call the number to check in as they don't allow anyone inside. The line was busy for a few minutes and after about 7 tries I got through. The front desk was very prompt in meeting me outside with filling out the paperwork. We waited a few more minutes and our puppy was picked up from our car. We waited about 15-20 minutes and the vet called to give us a quick run down of his health summary along with next steps for the rest of his vaccinations. When it came to pay for services, again we were told to wait in the car and someone would call for payment. I gave my payment over the phone and was asked to wait for for the payment to go through and have someone come out with the receipt. I didn't mind that, until the wait for the receipt went longer than our puppy's actual visit and I had to call back again to follow up. Overall, our first trip to the vet went very well. I'd imagine things would run much smoother had it not been during a pandemic! But I appreciate their safety measures in place.

They took my bird in despite being heavily occupied and saw him as an emergency and prescribed medication and antiobitoics for his gash. Thankfully, he got better with their help and was able to take him back home that same day. I appreciate everything you do for us and our fur babies !! I would recommend this over pet care veterinary Hospital for sure!

Unfortunately covid is the answer to everything these days... Service is terrible it's covid you can't reach anybody through a phone line it's covid.. Even the website... Defaults you to read Our new procedure about covid then it won't let you Navigate anywhere else in the site... Emails they don't answer because they say that they don't have time answer any correspondence through their website. Phone calls..Website text...NO GOOD If you were so fortunate as to actually talk to A person the 1st thing that is asked are you here for the veterinarian hospital no appointments for weeks and weeks for regular visit But you can come right in for 30 $40 more and a higher rate for everything because it's a hospital... Absolutely terrible just driving their customers away I've been coming to Bay beach since they built the building on the boulevard beside Princess Anne high school... And I have 3 dogs I love my dogs.. But Bay beach stay away it will make you old

I called early this morning around 2 am, my 8 week old kitten was throwing up the past few days and starting throwing up worms. The receptionist was so nice and helpful. She answered any questions I had and even let me send in photos to show the vet assistant to make sure it wasn't an emergency circumstance. I called many places today and everyone was rude, rushed me off the line, and told me it wasn't an emergency. I know worms are normal for kittens to get but since I've had him for 2 months already and he's been dewormed I started to worry. I appreciate all the effort she made to help my baby boy and I. Thank you again to her added 2 pictures of my boy.

We have been with Bay Beach since it bought Dr Bloxham when he retired. This now 27 yrs with the talented vets and staff. They care for your pets as if they were their own. From 100lb dog down to our 4lb bunny. Sasha,Gypsy,Houdini,(Cheyenne, Onyx,Cherokee and Flower crossed bridge pets) all loved being patients. Up front with cost and no sugar coating the care with outcomes. Love yall!!!! Mike and Helene Poulios

I have been taking my dog Hope to Bay Beach for 10 years....10 YEARS...and today July 13, 2020 I was talked to by the most disrespectful staff EVER in my entire life. I will NEVER return to Bay Beach. Hope was there on June 5, 2020 for her annual physical and she was doing great. NOTES by Dr Cronin:skin looks normal, hair coat in good condition, eyes clear, lungs clear, beautiful bloodwork, etc. Everything was perfect. Because of COVID I was not allowed to go inside of course & they said they would email my receipt. I called several times requesting it but never received it. Hope has an autoimmune disease vaccine induced Ischemic dermatopathy that Dr. Honaker diagnosed in 2015 and added NO VACCINES to her medical records. Hope lost most of her fur and was in tremendous pain and she almost died. If it had not been for Dr Honaker and with medications prescribed and monitored by a dermatologist, over a year, Hope would not have survived. Hope's fur grew back and she was finally better, and she continues to see the dermatologist annually as well. Within 2 weeks of Hope's annual checkup at Bay Beach on June 5th, Hope's fur starting getting thin and some places gone completely and now her skin is bleeding. I knew something must have happened at her visit that caused it. I sent an email on Su day July 12th requesting the receipt and finally received it. They have her a vaccine WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. And her medical chart states NO VACCINES!!! This morning Monday July 13, 2020 I took Hope to Bay Beach for Dr Cronin to look at her skin, just look at her thru the glass and tell me WHY she was given a vaccine. The front desk staff REFUSED to get Dr Cronin or even a Vet tech to come out and look at Hope. I asked when I could see or talk to Dr Cronin and they said she is very busy and booked up. They told me I could see and Emergency Vet and pay the ER fee. I said Bay Beach caused this problem and I will not pay for their mistake. Breeanna, front desk staff told me that would be the only way or I could go elsewhere. I said give me Hope's medical records and I will go elsewhere. They said they would have to email them to me. If you love your pet, take them to a different Veterinary practice because obviously Dr Kimberly Key, owner of Bay Beach has little concern for the well-being of your loved ones. I've attached a picture of Hope at Bay Beach on June 5th sitting in the grass waiting for her appointment AND pictures of her fur and skin now.

Took my Ceaser to be put down today. They were very sensitive and professional. Thank you.

The vet told me it was a blood feather, removed the blood feather and stopped the bleeding.

We have been going to Paws for 4 years now and recently switched to get our dog's teeth cleaned elsewhere. Never again. Our dog runs highly anxious, yet at Paws, where he can constantly move in the aisles before and after his session, he is less hyped. Love that we don't need an appointment. It's just a short queue every time. Love that our meds are less expensive and we can buy individually or as needed. Love that the doctors are quick and easy-going and the nurses have treats to give. Our dog even got microchipped as a puppy, and he yelped once and then got a treat and loved everyone again.

But after having 3 different awful experiences with this woman I cannot stay silent. My first encounter with her that went awfully was when I had brought me and my moms new puppy and intended to carry him so he did not have a leash since I was conscious about him touching the floor and carts being I did not know how well they had been cleaned and he had no vaccines yet and I was unsure if his mother had any vaccines. She spoke down to me once again, forcing me to put a slip lead on him and put him in a cart despite me being uncomfortable with this.  The next time we had been late on our puppies vaccines and he had to restart his vaccine course to which this woman spoke down to me and my mother about how if we had come in earlier he wouldn't have had to restart and in general was rude and nasty.  This last experience that I had yesterday is by far the worst and inexcusable. My personal dog who is human reactive had been muzzled bc he is large and scary when he barks but has 0 bite history. I stood with him near the door to try and catch the woman and ask her about where we should stand because my dog sometimes barks at people. when she came out she very rudely told me people had been waiting and I couldnt cut in line. I expressed that i was trying to alert her to my dog and keep him from people to which he is reactive. She told me she would have to help the others first and that the line started in the back. I assured again that was fine and she started helping people to which my dog started screaming because he saw another dog and got excited so she told me to go wait on the other side. I moved me and my dog to the other side of the door behind a pillar and was giving him treats and praise for ignoring the people and dogs. She came back to told me I needed to wait around the other side of the building all the way at the end and she would get me. I waited out there for 20-30 minutes crying because she made me feel shamed for trying to properly keep my dog under control and everyone comfortable. My mother ended up coming to help me speak to someone because of the treatment and we went straight back to the manager to speak yo him and were placed in line. When we walked in she tried to make an excuse that she somehow didnt know I was waiting outside despite her telling me to wait there. Everyone was amazing and helped us perfectly fine until my mother was trying to check out at the front with some items she was purchasing and heard the front desk woman telling other customers to "watch out for the girl and her mom with the muzzle dog who was lunging at others" to which my mom had an argument with her and left. My mom called me and informed me she was up there speaking about us and the woman standing in line next to us informed me that she had also been given the same warning about me and my dog and I alerted the manager of this. As I was leaving she was once again speaking about me and my dog If you look at any other negative review of this clinic it mentioned this woman and her repeated behavior like this. So this begs the question: are some dogs inherently less deserving of vet care because of their reactivity and does this woman get to decide?

A strong word of warning about Dr. Ashley Powell and Animal Medical Center:…read more We took our dog in for an emergent but common procedure. He was diagnosed quickly and surgery was recommended (to be performed by Dr. Koegel). Hours go by with no updates so I called to find out what was going on. Dr. Ashley Powell (the co-owner of the practice) got on the phone to tell me our dog died during surgery and Dr. Koegel was upset so she sent her home. Dr. Powell gave an - we don't really know what happened the procedure itself went great he just didn't do well - explanation of what happened. We went in to say goodbye and during our second post-surgical interaction she said the same thing - no clear explanation of what happened. My husband and I are both in medicine and knew something was off here. On our THIRD conversation after demanding to know what transpired during the procedure step by step (and demanding to speak to the lead surgeon Dr. Koegel) we learned that Dr Koegel mistakenly cut into our dogs diaphragm and called Dr. Powell into the room to help stabilize him while Dr. Koegel attempted to suture the laceration. This unforced surgical error was what killed our dog (admitted by all parties in our 4th conversation). What is more disturbing to me than a mistake happening during a procedure is the lack of professionalism, transparency and ethics by Dr. Koegel and Dr. Powell at every step. Dr. Powell runs the practice and found it reasonable to send Dr Koegel home instead of doing the ethical thing of facing the family and explaining what happened and taking that responsibility. Most importantly, Dr. Powell was not honest during the first two conversations about what happened during the procedure even though she was in the room. Medical professionals have a solemn obligation to conduct themselves with integrity even in the tough moments and Drs. Powell & Koegel lack that fidelity. We can't accept the idea of something like this happening to another family so please reconsider your vet care - Dr. Powell also co-owns Ally Urgent Medical Care off North Great Neck Rd in addition to co-owning Animal Medical Center. Dr. Koegel has since left AMC.
