I needed a couple of small pieces cut for an outdoor lamp and had looked around Santa Cruz as that's close to home. I had one estimate of $60 per piece which seemed high for a 5" by 7" piece of glass. I then went to Los Gatos and heard $30 a piece. I passed by Bay Glass and thought I'd ask although I'd basically given up! Leo said he'd do it and hoped he wouldn't have to charge me! Although I didn't make my needs clear on the thickness and had to return, he still made good and refused to accept my payment. I'm stunned at this customer service! We have double pane windows and someone shot a pallet through one of our front windows many years ago. Broke the outer glass. After many years i thought it would be nice to replace it. I heard about this company through a family friend who suggested Bay Glass because of the customer service. I was beyond satisfied with this team, their highest points being: 1. Customer Service: They answered their phone any single time I called, and this was often times beyond business hours and even on weekends. Apparently they have 24/7 phone service. Very friendly and understanding coordinators in their office. 2. Quality: While this is a smaller company, the workers they have here are unsurpassed at any other glass companies I have worked with. The workers really understand what they are doing and can always come up with a solution or way to make things work, which was especially helpful for me since my purchase dealt with atypical glass measurments. 3. Price: Simply put: these prices can not be beat anywhere else. Trust me, I have worked with MANY glass vendors all around the bay area and you will not find a better deal than Bay Glass. They are always willing to offer competitive rates, and they are all the better since you are still getting quality work for a low price. When I built my house, Bay glass did pretty much everything from custom shower enclosures, bathroom mirror installation, closets and stair case glass placement. I've used them 4 separate times throughout the time I've owned my home and have had nothing but good experiences with them. They are incredibly reliable, fast and efficient. Eddie who is on site during the job is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to all things glass, and as an added bonus he is extremely cautious in keeping the place neat before and after a job (Lays down blankets, wears shoe covers). After so many good experiences, it's highly unlikely I will go anywhere else. I HIGHLY recommend this company. read more

I broke my sliding window & threw away the aluminum framing pieces....Big Mistake. I later learned the frame is crucial & most expensive part. After numerous phone calls around town, nobody wanted to help me. They all needed a frame to start, or charged outlandish fees to make one. Bay Window not only hooked me up with a low price on the overall project. They understood my problem & had a solution. They made a new frame & everything was good..... I did not ask for a challenging piece - just a couple glass surfaces to place on top of a dresser and night table. Neither was an exacting piece of detail work, so I can only give a "binary" thumbs up - work quality met the standards. What I can say really stands out is the level of service. Pablo offered me a phone estimate, and was very straightforward. He said he expected me to shop the price, and that was fine. I had already received an estimate from one other shop. Pablo's was about 20% less. I decided to give Bay Glass a shot, in part because he offered same-day turnaround. Most impressive is what happened next. Mind you, I'm talking a small job. Despite that, and my ordering a bit late in the morning, Pablo made good on his offer to finish same-day. On top of that, I called him from San Francisco in the heat of Friday traffic to let him know I wouldn't make the 5 p.m. deadline for pickup (i.e., his closing time). I even told him "hey, I know I'm not a big customer, I'd really understand if you want to call it quits and start the weekend ... I can always pick it up on Monday." Pablo's response: "I can wait ... don't worry about it and just drive safely." No kidding. And he was there, at 5:30 p.m., even helping to bring the pieces to my car when they were fully small enough for me to handle. A+ service, and I agree with Chris G - I hope Pablo thrives. read more

This company was outstanding to work with, is easily accessible by phone and e-mail, and provides amazing customer service. They installed a beautiful laminate glass and aluminum door for me about 1.5 years ago and we get more compliments on this door than on any other home improvement we've ever done. The owner (Leo) and his employee Eddie are both reachable at any time for questions and Leo returns e-mails faster than anyone in the trades. Eddie is extremely hard working and eager to please. I will definitely be using them again to do sliders and windows during our future remodel and would highly recommend them to anyone. I would ignore the review below dated 5/19/11 because this "reviewer" never had any work done with this company and people do get sick and have to reschedule estimates...that's life. read more

Avoid Bay Glass. Leo, the owner was very difficult to work with and did not follow through with his promises. His repairman was incompetent and was not able to complete a simple door latch repair after multiple visits. I originally used Bay Glass to replace all my windows and doors. After 1 year and 1 month, the door latch stopped working and I called Leo to repair the door. No one ever showed up for the first appointment- this is after I took half a day off to be available to meet with his repairman. I set up a second appointment and Alex the repairman diagnosed the problem and declared that it would be a simple repair after ordering a part. After his second visit, he discovered a problem and claimed that the entire door stile from the frame had to be replaced. He claimed that there was no other way to replace the latch. Alex had to come a third time, because he didn't take all the proper measurements the previous time. After following up numerous times, Alex claimed the door stile supplier kept making mistakes and he didn't have the stile ready. After several weeks, I found out that Alex was no longer working for Bay Glass- he claimed that he had quit. Either way, Leo was not taking responsibility for the work and was quoting me over $700 for the job. After this point, I wanted nothing to do with Bay Glass. I had Palo Alto Glass come out to look at the door. After an initial diagnosis, they were able to replace the latch in 1 hour, with no need to replace the door stile. They showed up on time as promised and were highly professional. Do not use Bay Glass. Apparently they have moved from Mountain View and I believe they are in Campbell now. Regardless, I would not recommend working with Leo. read more

I called several companies, Bay Glass was the first one to reply, and the first one showed up for estimate with reasonable price. The workers are on time, clean and polite, they completed the work within the amount of time they promised, and they did good job cleaning up before they leave. We had a fabulous experience with them, and the windows and doors came out much better than we ever could have anticipated. They finished ahead of schedule, were neat and courteous, exactly on budget, and were extremely responsive to calls and emails. In the end they were able to fabricate and install 7 foot wide by 9+ foot high custom commercial windows that give us panoramic views of the hills, and nobody else with whom we spoke could fabricate them and also guarantee them. Called them up to get an estimate on a project...they told me they would call me the following day to come out and make estimate. After receiving no call i called them again and after profuse apologies because the guy was sick they "guaranteed" they would come the following day. Surprise... no communication the following day either. I won't wait for the third strike. A company that can't follow up to earn business is not a well run business plain and simple. read more

I was trying to get my wife's attention from outside by tossing pebbles at our upstairs double-pained, horizontal slider Milgard window, and managed to break the outer pane. I reached out to Leo at Bay Glass, who explained the vacuum-sealed nature of double-pained windows, and that I would need to replace the whole unit. The very next day his team arrived to take measurements, right on time. The guys were great and extremely polite and respectful. They even paid a house call later in the week, leaving a note on my doorstep informing me when they would be back for the install - simply wonderful customer service.
