I wanted a mirrored door put on my husband's closet to match the 3 door closet on the other side of the room. I contacted the company and a very nice gentleman came to measure. I also had thought about getting rid of my framed shower doors (sliders) and putting on a frameless shower door. he came and measured the door that was on the closet. It was really small, maybe 3 fit. by 6ft. something. He said it was no problem getting a mirror door Then he went into the very tiny bathroom we have and measured the possible doors. he used some kind of laser beam to measure it. He left and told me I would get a quote. I never heard from him again. I went out to the place on the business card that he had given me. He had moved and never changed the address. The neighboring business( this place was in a business park with the typical large garage doors) told me that he moved 3 months ago and gave me his new address. I went to the new address and found him. I asked him why he never mentioned he had moved, he appeared not to know that the business card he gave me didn't have his address on it. I sort of fumbled around and said he was getting new ones printed. He was very surprised to see me. I looked at one of the barn door type shower surrounds he had up and asked him if that was what I would get. I never heard from him again.. Strangest encounter for a service company I ever had. He never did explain why he went to all that trouble to measure instead of telling me right off that he did't want to do the job, or couldn't do it or whatever. One of our rolling/sliding glass doors on our downstairs shower shattered while we were out of town and we think it happened while our cul-de-sac was being repaved and somehow the vibration from the heavy equipment transferred to the stressed shatter proof glass. Anyway, it was an unpleasant surprise to come home to - our dismembered shower door in a large and scattered pile on the floor. It was stress thinking about replacing it since it would be a small custom job and in expensive San Jose, it can be difficult to get anyone's attention for small jobs. I contacted Ben at Santa Clara Glass along with a number of others. All the prices were about the same but I really liked Ben's straightforward and honest discussion. He gave me choices with trade offs for our 2 bathrooms. One was a frameless corner glass and the other was on top of a tub. I liked his responsiveness and he did not push an agenda vs others. His installers are good,they removed the existing shower enclosure and put the frameless one up matching the holes and such. They were very effective and clean. My landlord just used them to install a brand new enclosure in the master bath shower two days back. Guess what, the door won't shut properly hence leaving one inch gap outwards. First time I've showered, left a big puddle on the new laminated floor. He installed shower enclosure door that won't shut properly and told me that's the way it is.. self centered hinges on frameless showers should be used so the door would align properly. I would had given negative five stars if given option!!! He was more expensive than others but used him which was probably my mistake. Originally quoted $1700, follow by $150 for enclosure removal and then said tax has not been included even though screenshot of our conversation confirmed tax and installation was included! At the end of the day, all I want is a door that closes and properly align with the other glass thats why it's called self centered hinges.. not offset hinges. As a owner, you should be ashamed of yourself! Have no problem the enclosure cost more than other local business, but do expect a shower door to close properly!!! I needed a glass top for my metal and wood table and was looking for someone locally who could make it to size, deliver and install it. Ben gave me an estimate and I ordered the glass. When they came to install it, it turned out to be the wrong size. Ben immediately placed a replacement order and had another piece ready in 5 days. Ben and his colleague, both of whom were very nice, brought the glass over and installed it. The corner edges were sharp so they came back later with their sander and sanded it to a rounded edge finish. They also cleaned the glass very thoroughly. The great experience started with the owner Ben. For medical necessity/reasons time was of the essence to fix this particular shower (wife can't use the other). I asked for a quote here on Yelp. Ben was the first, and only, to respond with something other than a cut and paste... "call me". Seems the measurements I provided "couldn't be correct" because they were non-standard. Nobody else looked at them (didn't know?) nor cared enough to ask. Ben called me and I confirmed the measurements I had provided so he came after work to see for himself! Turns out the previous guy fabricated from materials he had "on hand" from an industrial job and nothing was standard. Everything had to be replaced. Ben's shop is very busy but he knew it was important so he had his team fabricate the glass in-house and waited for the first opening in the schedule. His guys called the next Wednesday and said they had an opening can they come in 20 mins. Two very friendly installers and two hours later and everything was brand-new and gleeming! Ever since I owned a home, I have worked with so many contractors for various purposes. Among all of the them, Ben is easily the most professional and honest person to work with. After the installation of the shower door, I was not happy with the alignment which was caused because of slight bend in the door. When brought to his notice, without arguing a bit or trying to convince me, he changed it for a new one. He is quick to respond and the answers patiently to any questions you have. I'll start off with the good stuff: - The mirrors that were installed look absolutely GREAT, and I'm very happy with the installation job. - Their response time was phenomenal, and was the main reason that I chose Santa Clara Glass. Not as good stuff: - Their initial price estimate was on the higher side (~75th percentile) in comparison to other competitors. The only reason I accepted was because not only did they respond first, but they claimed they would be able to finish the job in the following week. - The job did not actually finish the following week. Supposedly there was an accident with the shipment, though no proof (nor any information related to the purchase of the raw materials) was ever shared with me. - The guy did not schedule a time to install at all. "We think it'll be Tuesday or Wednesday". No updates, and then all of a sudden I get a text on Tuesday afternoon, "We'll be there in 15 minutes." And then they showed up in 5. This thankfully worked out because of COVID, and I WFH, but it's entirely possible that this would not have been the case. I felt this was very disrespectful of my time. - These guys were initially expecting a 50% payment up front, though they did not as of yet provide any services, or even proof that they had bought the mirrors. I had to spend time to discuss and explain that I was not comfortable doing this in order to get them to actually schedule a time to come. - The initial invoice that was sent to me included a 9.25% tax on top of his services, and not only for the raw materials. I had to specifically point this out, and I was told it would be amended. - The guy gave me an updated estimate, which was slightly lower. I asked if he would be giving me the updated invoice so I can better understand what I'm paying for (how much for the actual installation, how much for raw materials, etc.). He said he would give it to me that night, though this would be after I paid him. I STILL have not received that promised invoice. - Paint was scratched off some of the exposed wall in the room directly above where the mirror was installed. A simple apology would've sufficed, but it was never even brought to my attention. - I am STILL finding glass and mirror shards in my garage. The surface they were working on top of was my rubber flooring (my garage doubles as a workout gym). I don't understand why they couldn't have cut the glass outside, or why they couldn't put a tarp down to catch all of the glass. I enjoy working barefoot in my gym, and I no longer feel safe doing so. Overall, the entire process just felt disorganized. I hate to give negative reviews - especially since it was my intention to try to support a smaller local business in the first place - but unfortunately I would not recommend this company to a friend looking for a similar service. read more

Our current frameless shower enclosure was in need of either a full replacement, or at the very least, a good repair/maintenance job. Seals were deteriorating and the glass panels were slowly shifting in place, allowing for water to leak out. After several quotes, Santa Clara Glass was able to quote me a "repair/replace" of the current panels that was less than half of a full replacement (saving me over $1000). They were also the only ones to quote a repair/replace and INCLUDED warranty (others would do the work with no warranty). The team came out on time and did a phenomenal job. It is the same glass but looks completely brand new. My wife, upon seeing the job after the team left, said to me: I thought you were just going to use the same glass panels.
