First of all, I don't even like sandwiches but this place makes the best sandwiches ever, breakfast ones too (served until ~11am). I love ham but Bay Street Deli really made me realize it because in fact, they have the best ham you'll ever have in your life -- it's light, fluffy, and so flavorful. Check out the pic (the dunes) and you'll see what I mean but you'll have to taste it too. You can modify it to your liking like I do most of the time with the dunes (but only cos I have a sweeter tooth): white instead of marble bread, provolone instead of Swiss, and honey mustard instead of mustard. You seriously never had a ham or sandwich like this before. I also love getting breakfast sandwiches here (on a roll). In the morning, when you walk in, you hear the fresh egg shells cracking in the background -- it's a familiar sound like when you're at home and mom or dad make you breakfast, it's a great feeling -- followed by the far away sound of one egg at a time hitting the hot surface straight out of its shell, you can hear it bubble up and freshly fry away, and eventually you finally get the wrapped up sandwich with a swirl of breakfast goodness in the air. I look forward to every season when they reopen. They also have hot/iced coffee, with flavor options. I love their chocolate chip cookies too, freshly baked every day. Outdoor seating is available for a quick bite. They're sweet people, it's a family-run business, and you can see their love of family in some wall decorations too. By far my favorite lobster roll in Rhode Island! Tons of buttery lobster inside a delicious homemade fresh roll! I'm horrified to read some of these crazy reviews about the poor bread quality because I've never had a bad experience! The bread is fresh and homemade! I really love this place when we come to Watch Hill! One of the best delis ever been to. Sadly I only have couple times per year. I always get the Dunes (#10) and it might be one of best sandwiches ever had. I love a good deli and this was is worth the visit. It's a little pricey but worth it in my opinion. They also have amazing baked goods like cookies and donuts along with Del's lemonade! Must try if your at Watch Hill and want a good lunch. Those reviews I just read aren't accurate. Hot butter lobster roll...you say those four words to me, and thanks to Bay Street Deli, I will have a pavlovian drool response. I don't have New England roots so my main experiences with lobster rolls are the ones served cold in mayo in New York restaurants that charge them for almost $30. With its hot butter lobster roll, Bay Street revealed certain truths to me: First, lobster rolls taste just as good if not better when they are doused in hot butter compared to the cold, mayo-y kind. Which way you choose your lobster roll done is a matter of how you feel, but the universal fact is both taste amazing. Why more places in New York do not provide the hot buttered option is simply tragic... Second, lobster rolls are simply better on a butter-griddled hot dog bun than on any other bread-holder. Bay Street's bun was crispy and buttery, and it provided the perfect pedestal for the thick claws and lobster meat erupting from the bread. It was just as appealing to my eyes as it was to my stomach. No more lobster rolls in hamburger buns for me (well, maybe Mermaid is an exception). Last, the era of lobster shacks is over, and the era of lobster delis will soon reign. Bay Street shatters the preconception that good, cheap seafood can only be found in isolated shacks in New England. I walked into Bay Street and it looked like just a regular deli with cold cuts in the glass counter, soda bottles in the refrigerated glass case, and a menu with sandwiches written in chalk/marker. I got a tuna sandwich there today and when I opened it, the bread had bright green mold. I mean, it wasn't subtle. When I walked back over to show it to the cashier, she just said "yup, yup." I was told that the lobster rolls here are GREAT and my friend did not steer me wrong! It was mouth-wateringly, savor-every-bite, delicious! Made fresh after you order and the lobster chunks are meaty and succulent. The bread is warm and soft. MMM...I will be dreaming about this place forever. My only regret is that I didn't get the large roll. I still kick myself. The lobster is sauteed in butter in the "hot" roll. That's the one I got and it's so freaking good. Words don't do it justice. I didn't try the "cold" roll but it's made with mayo. I think the price was $11 something for the small and $13 something for the large. Quite a steal considering the sub-par lobster rolls I find in the Bay Area go for $15+. The owner told me that I just missed Conan O'Brien by an hour. While the prices were what I expected for being at the beach, being greeted by a miserable, older woman who took our order certainly did not leave a great first impression. Hidden gem in Watch Hill! Great place to bring people because the food is great, the staff is incredible, and it's priced right. I'd highly recommend the Italian or heated up Reuben. The iced tea was also very refreshing and the outdoor seating was nice. Most importantly the staff were extremely friendly and polite, they smiled, welcomed us in, made a few recommendations, and thanked us for our business (most people in Watch Hill are stuffy/arrogant for no apparent reason). Love the lobster rolls here but the last three times we have come they were closed for no apparent reason. Saturday of labor day weekend and you are closed at 5:30 that makes no sense. If you don't feel like working then just close your establishment. Maybe you go for the lobster rolls, but definately will not go to this dive again. Simply because the owner was so rude & gruff. I asked for the chicken ceaser wrap with tomatoes.
