1st time ever stopping here. It's all outdoor dining , picnic tables and umbrellas. I ordered the whole belly clam dinner and a bottle of water . Was like $40 ish. Came with plenty of clams, not over breaded or overcooked , they were just right . The belly's were big and juicy ( don't think about what you're actually eating ) with zero sand . I did get an extra tartar sauce . No complaints. The French fries were plain and kinda soggy . The clams were on top . They were just average . And the all valuable Cole-slaw . Frozen mudslide was wonderful that I would say was the highlight, I ordered the fish basket that came with two pieces of large haddock, although not much fries and only one tartar sauce, which wasn't even enough for one piece of fish, my friend got the whole belly clams although half of them were strips. We spent about $130 including tips so I would say that the food was good but they should definitely give more tartar sauce and a normal portion of fries since mine was half of what my friend got. Great day at the beach! Why not treat yourself with a tasty lunch! I messed up and got the cold lobster roll, it had mayonnaise definitely not the move after being in the sun. I bought a lobster roll and calamari. Both came with fries however, I feel it was over priced (prices definitely fluctuated over a short time). Just my opinion. We have passed this clam shack many times and decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed! The items are cooked to order so you will wait a bit but it's worth the wait. The lobster roll was delicious, a perfect balance of lobster scallions mayo on a yummy crusty roll. Fries were crunchy and hot and the cole slaw was not overly dressed. The Stonington scallop roll was perfection, lightly breaded and a good portion. They have plenty of picnic tables with umbrellas so you can eat on site. We grabbed a fantastic take-out meal from Salty's on our first night in Misquamicut. It was a great way to start our week long vacay! We started off the meal with 2 orders of steamers, an order of 6 clam fritters, a fish basket (haddock), a hot buttered lobster roll, and a side of corn. I was also able to purchase an ice cold Corona. (Perfect since we hadn't done our shopping for the week.) The meal was delicious!!!! We had so much food that we enjoyed the leftovers for lunch the next day. The young service staff was friendly and helpful. The food was packaged very well...no leaking broth or butter. We enjoyed this meal so much we will be returning for dinner on our last night of this vacation...and adult "mudslide" milkshakes some time in between. Yum! read more

After a long wait I was very disappointed by the "whole belly" clams: there were no whole bellies, just some dried out attachments to clam strips with a lot a breading. Were they using frozen clams? After a beautiful long afternoon on the shoreline, our stomachs were ready for some local grub! We definitely wanted some seafood, but didn't want to have to dig too deep into our pockets! With the season coming to a close, we stumbled upon Salty's by accident. The choices and options were decent and prices reasonable enough on the wallet. The two of us decided to split shrimp tacos, with cole slaw, seasoned fries and a large cup of Rhode Island clam chowder! The wait was reasonable and the portions generous enough for two. The Shrimp tacos with the soft tortillas had plenty of medium sized shrimp pieces, cole slaw and garnish. The fries crisp and lightly seasoned, but was too cold for my taste, hence the four stars! I was fearful when the old Seafood Haven closed....but the replacement is a nice update. I think owned by the Sea Well next door, it assures fresher seafood. I had the chowder (RI style, amazing with lots of potato and clams) and the fritters (a bit dense but a great clam flavor). Had the calamari but it was so so.....needed more debris. A super convenient location, and it does have parking, and the menu is wide with lobster rolls and other fried and fresh seafood. Just plan ahead - one day I went at 4 and was served right away. One day I went at 5 and waited 1.5 hours from in line to served. One day I went at 3 and the line was crazy so I skipped it. They do give you realistic wait times. As I said, plan ahead and be prepared for a bit of a wait depending when you go. They do not do call ahead orders or online orders, unfortunately. read more

Fresh seafood in a variety fit for all. Rhode Island or New England clam chowder. Lobster, blackened salmon or shrimp taco's. The oyster PO-boy is so big and loaded with tons of oysters, it took me two days to finish it. Best I ever had because they don't slight you. Nicest staff ever as is the parking guy. This place is a hidden gem! After spending the day at misquamicut state beach my boyfriend & I were quite hungry and in the mood for fresh seafood. I ordered the tuna poke bowl and holy moly it was bar far the best tuna poke I've ever had! I'm the type of person that try's out poke bowls where ever I find them, and it was definitely a risk ordering one here without knowing how it would turn out, but boy am I happy I got it! It had radish, cucumber, fresh greens, avocado, pickled onions, and the tuna was marinated in a delicious soy sauce sriracha combo. My boyfriend ordered the hot lobster roll and I was just as impressed with the quality of the seafood with his meal as well. I'm seriously looking forward to the next time we spend the day at the beach near here just to stop and order food here afterwards. read more

This place was delightful. Pleasantly out of the way from the busier side of town and has a perfect open seating area outside. The food was magnificent. We had a fried clam basket and shrimp tacos. The shrimp tacos were so outstanding, especially coming from a clam shack. Seasoned to perfection and topped marvelously. Fried clams were well above average and the basket was enormous. The hot lobster roll was overflowing with lobster and so delicious I ate it two days in a row. The clam chowder had more clam than you'd expect and was hot and hit the spot. Unfortunately because beach parking is so expensive and most of the restaurants are sit down style, I only come here to take a scenic ride around the area. There are only two "walk up" and order style food joints along the ocean so I chose Salty's. Damn, it really does live up to its name. See pictures below to understand what I mean. For a seafood shack, the prices for clam chowder and clam cakes are outrageous, in my opinion. The quality is inferior to other shacks as well. If you are looking for a creamy New England style clam chowder, you won't find it here. It included mostly pieces of potato with the skin on it and what few pieces of clams I found were gritty with sand from the ocean. The liquid was...liquid. This "chowder" was more like a soup than anything else. Where to begin with the clam cakes. They would have been awesome if they weren't inundated with large pieces of salt fried onto each cake. The salt at the bottom of the paper container they were put in, makes me want to have a heart attack just looking at it. All in all, for 2 cups of clam chowder and a 6 piece clam cake for $25 at a SHACK, I find it to be overpriced especially for being subpar quality. read more

This is one of our family beach day go to restaurants. The sea food is delicious, there is usually a line and we can't call ahead because they don't take orders over the phone but they have outdoor sitting and a staff member cleaning the tables and ensuring the sea gals are not bothering anyone. The ice cream shop is next door. Family friendly restaurant. You don't need to wear shoes lol and it's pretty laid back. A prices are ok. read more

This was the worst lobster roll I've ever had. Aside from the fact that the dry/tough lobster was COVERED in dill, the roll was hard as a rock (as if they grilled it at noon and I was eating it at 6 pm). The dill could have been a bad judgement call on their part (really bad judgment), but the bun was blatant disregard for quality. I've lived in RI my whole life and have had many great lobster rolls (it's not hard), these people clearly don't care and are just trying to rip off tourist. read more

I ate here several times last summer and I am counting the days until Salty's opens again for the season. The food is SPECTULAR! We have had the lobster tacos which are packed with lobster and seasoned perfectly. I have also had the Poke Salad which is delicious. Our kids aren't big seafood eaters, so they had hot dogs and some of the best beer battered fries I have ever eaten. I cannot say enough good things. Monday around 12:30, my friend and I pulled into Saltys. Cute place. My friend got a lobster roll and was very happy with it. I got the Blackened fish tacos and an order of fritters. When I asked the girl what kind of fries came with the tacos, she sarcastically answered "french fries". There are a few variations of fries that places serve such as, shoestring, steak, battered, etc., so I think it was a legitimate question and honestly, I don't think there should ever be sarcasm when dealing with a customer. I asked her if they were battered and she said no but there was a light batter on them. They were also a bit oversalted. The fish tacos did not taste like they were blackened and were bland. The clam fritters had a good texture but could have been just called fritters. I found about 4 tiny pieces of clam in my six fritters. Even if they want to be stingy with the clams, which they shouldn't because they own a seafood market, they could at least put some clam juice in them. The food did come out quick and I like that they did the social distancing with the picnic tables. The portable bathrooms weren't very appealing; however, we discovered very clean public bathrooms down the road. Not sure if I'd try it again though read more

at salty's clam shack in westerly ri I had a clam chowder delivered to me which i was planning on not rating due to that fact that a hot and fresh chowder will obviously be better then one delivered but however because of the amount of pepper, enough to make a navy seal drink a bottle of chloraseptic throat spray and the half a potato chunks in the chowder I have to give it a 5:10, however the broth was good and the clams were excellent. read more
