    Lobster roll
    Stevie P.

We have passed this clam shack many times and decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed! The items are cooked to order so you will wait a bit but it's worth the wait. The lobster roll was delicious, a perfect balance of lobster scallions mayo on a yummy crusty roll. Fries were crunchy and hot and the cole slaw was not overly dressed. The Stonington scallop roll was perfection, lightly breaded and a good portion. They have plenty of picnic tables with umbrellas so you can eat on site. All in all it was a great experience!

We grabbed a fantastic take-out meal from Salty's on our first night in Misquamicut. It was a great way to start our week long vacay! We started off the meal with 2 orders of steamers, an order of 6 clam fritters, a fish basket (haddock), a hot buttered lobster roll, and a side of corn. I was also able to purchase an ice cold Corona. (Perfect since we hadn't done our shopping for the week.) The meal was delicious!!!! We had so much food that we enjoyed the leftovers for lunch the next day. The young service staff was friendly and helpful. The food was packaged very well...no leaking broth or butter. We enjoyed this meal so much we will be returning for dinner on our last night of this vacation...and adult "mudslide" milkshakes some time in between. Yum!

Whole Belly Clam roll is the Bomb! Sweet and delicious. A must have to kick off your summer in New England!

Pulled up on the bikes, Grabbed some clams and a beer. Nice setting, with the breachway, and bridge right there. Plenty of seating outside. A definite multiple summer stop for me.

Grilled shrimp tacos, cabbage/slaw and seasoned fries!

After a beautiful long afternoon on the shoreline, our stomachs were ready for some local grub! We definitely wanted some seafood, but didn't want to have to dig too deep into our pockets! With the season coming to a close, we stumbled upon Salty's by accident. The choices and options were decent and prices reasonable enough on the wallet. The two of us decided to split shrimp tacos, with cole slaw, seasoned fries and a large cup of Rhode Island clam chowder! The wait was reasonable and the portions generous enough for two. The Shrimp tacos with the soft tortillas had plenty of medium sized shrimp pieces, cole slaw and garnish. The fries crisp and lightly seasoned, but was too cold for my taste, hence the four stars! The Rhode Island clam chowder was nice! Plenty of flavor, potatoes and celery but short on clams for what it's suppose to be! Would I try them again, yes!

Hours say 12-8pm on google and maps. Show up at 7:10 and the place is closed. Fix your hours.

Oyster PO-boy with the freshest tomato and lettuce, plus a slice of lemon to drizzle.

Fresh seafood in a variety fit for all. Rhode Island or New England clam chowder. Lobster, blackened salmon or shrimp taco's. The oyster PO-boy is so big and loaded with tons of oysters, it took me two days to finish it. Best I ever had because they don't slight you. Nicest staff ever as is the parking guy. I'm here for a week and sad to find out they're closed Mon-Wed this second week of June. #waaaa

    Tuna Poke Bowl $14

This place is a hidden gem! After spending the day at misquamicut state beach my boyfriend & I were quite hungry and in the mood for fresh seafood. I ordered the tuna poke bowl and holy moly it was bar far the best tuna poke I've ever had! I'm the type of person that try's out poke bowls where ever I find them, and it was definitely a risk ordering one here without knowing how it would turn out, but boy am I happy I got it! It had radish, cucumber, fresh greens, avocado, pickled onions, and the tuna was marinated in a delicious soy sauce sriracha combo. My boyfriend ordered the hot lobster roll and I was just as impressed with the quality of the seafood with his meal as well. I'm seriously looking forward to the next time we spend the day at the beach near here just to stop and order food here afterwards.

Firstly, the guy at the window was an a-hole - yelling at elderly people that "the wait is an hour, be ready to order when you get to the window and get out of the way!". Secondly, I ordered my son a hot dog (which comes with fries) and waited until I got home to open it. This was the hot dog....

    Fried clams and shrimp tacos

This place was delightful. Pleasantly out of the way from the busier side of town and has a perfect open seating area outside. The food was magnificent. We had a fried clam basket and shrimp tacos. The shrimp tacos were so outstanding, especially coming from a clam shack. Seasoned to perfection and topped marvelously. Fried clams were well above average and the basket was enormous. Really nice people and decent turnaround for the food. Highly recommend for lowkey delicious seafood.

Cheese and bread were good! I asked if they add a tomato soup or something to go alongside it and they said they didn't however they threw in a free side of lobster bisque to dip the grilled cheese in! That lobster bisque was very creamy and paired really well with the sandwich. Afterwards they even threw in a free chocolate ice cream when we finished! So, since the Old Saybrook location closed, we set our sights on visiting the Niantic location, looking forward to what we missed so much. Sadly, this was one of the worst experiences we have had! Our order consisted of a kid's hot dog platter, an adult hot dog, side of onion rings, 2 small coleslaws and a side of clam strips. Let's begin with the hot dogs...Both the kids and adult hot dogs were the same size in different buns. The adult in a foot long bun and the kids in a regular bun. Again, same size hot dog inside. Moving on to the onion rings...for $7.00, I counted 19 shoestring onion rings. Not a nice pile, but flatly 19 and shoestring ones are incredibly deliciously thin. The kids platter arrived with just the hot dog on it. No fries. When I went back, I was told it did not come with fries. I disagreed and after some time, curly fries were placed next to the hot dog. I asked about regular fries and I was told that they did not carry regular ones. The nice boy behind this all stated that they did and it was corrected. Hot dog was now ice cold. My side of clam strips for $14 consisted of maybe a cup of clams. Sad portion! We ate what we could shaking our heads in disappointment. So sad our expectations were dashed! When we left, it was decided that a short walk (and I mean short because my mother can't balance for long) might be nice in order to forget the fiasco at the restaurant. As soon as we stepped away from the car, we were chased by their parking guard who said that we could no longer park there if we left the car. I explained that we had just spent almost $70 in their establishment and would be taking a short walk. She continued to chase us. We kept walking. Our walk took approximately 7 minutes. Upon our return, the man parked next to us entered his car with 2 bags and coffees from Sift Bakery. Obviously NOT a Skippers customer, yet he was not chased! So, sadly, we will NEVER again be visiting Skippers in Niantic. Johnny Ad's is meh, but this was way worse. I hope that they can fix things so that others can still enjoy eating there.

There are no trendy menus, no upscale atmosphere, and no attempts to reinvent fish and chips. Honestly, that's part of its charm. I've been coming here for years, and I have to admit that I am probably the least adventurous customer they have. Every time I visit, I order the same thing: fish and chips and a cup of white clam chowder. When something works, why mess with it? The fish is always crispy without being overly greasy, despite what some reviews might lead you to believe. The portions are generous, and the fries have always reminded me a little of the fries served at Wright's Farm. I'm not sure exactly why, but every time I eat them, that's the comparison that comes to mind. The clam chowder is also very good. As a lifelong Rhode Islander, I'm firmly in the white chowder camp, and theirs is done right. It's flavorful, satisfying, and pairs perfectly with the fish and chips. The setup is simple. You order at the counter when you walk in, they give you your number, and you grab a seat in the dining room while you wait for your food. It's efficient, straightforward, and keeps things moving. The staff has always been friendly, and I've never had an issue with service. Another plus is the value. The prices are very reasonable, especially these days when it feels like every restaurant meal costs twice what it did a few years ago. You get plenty of food for your money, and I've never walked away feeling disappointed. Parking is easy thanks to the large lot, which is a small thing that becomes a big thing when you're hungry and just want to get inside without circling the block looking for a spot. We usually stop in every few weeks, and that's probably the best endorsement I can give. If a restaurant keeps earning repeat visits year after year, they're doing something right. This isn't a destination for fine dining, and it isn't trying to be. It's a comfortable, reliable spot serving good fish and chips at fair prices with friendly people behind the counter. Sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for. Four stars.

When I arrived, around 3pm I was one of only 2 tables there. It's counter service and the teenagers taking my order were respectful but not overly kind. They didn't tell me I needed to wait for my order as they wouldn't call it out. But, I digress. The restaurant itself is small but clean. Dated in a cute way. You can tell they've been in business for a long time and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I had seen online that they had a scallop and shrimp plate but that wasn't offered today so I settled for shrimp and fish along with a cup of chowder. All this and a bottle of soda cost $40. Not an amazing price but I thought it was reasonable as a treat. My food came out quickly and I started with the seafood chowder. This chowder is amazing. Very creamy, decadent, and full of fish. I can not recommend it enough. The shrimp were also delicious. They were fried very well and moist. Not greasy at all. I recommend those as well. I have conflicting thoughts on the fish. On one hand I know that the English preparation is a heavy batter. I'm okay with that. But this batter was borderline soggy. No crisp to it whatsoever and the fish inside was completely lost to the breading. Which was honestly too bad because the fish itself was nice and flaky. Do I recommend Ye Olde Fish and Chips? Sure. I like supporting small business and I in they add a lot to the area. Would I get the fish again? No. But I will be first in line for the scallop and shrimp plate if it ever comes back to the menu!
