Slowest breakfast cook

Love the place love the prices love the help behind the bakery counter the fish counter the meat counter, but the girl cooking breakfast throwing F bombs everywhere complaining about people looking at her waiting for their food. Took 20 minutes to get breakfast. Wow they stood around and laughed and joked. Some people don't have that kind of time in the morning so I felt it was very disrespectful.

I have been coming to McQuade's since I was a kid, because my Grandmother lived right on School Street! They always had the best food, and we LOVED getting treats from the pastry counter. She even used to let me rent movies from the front of the store on Friday nights Fast forward to my Grandmother's 93rd Birthday, we called McQuade's for a cake and it was AMAZING! Thank you so much, you made her birthday!

Charged 2 pound lobsters rate...got 1.25/1.5 pounders.

DONT GET LOBSTERS AT MCQUADES!! They charge $8.99 a pound for 2 pound lobster sizes, but what you get are lobsters that are actually only 1.25/1.5 pound lobsters. And then they have the nerve to tell you that the 2 pounders they are selling you are actually on average about 1.75 pounds. When you ask them to make it right by either giving you the 2 pounders you asked & paid for, or at least refund you the difference, they DON'T. You're better off going to Pt. Judith/Galilee to get fresh caught lobsters that day & are the TRUE weight you ask & pay for. I'm giving them 1 star because they have RingDings! Can't get them back home.

McQuades is a high quality market. It's well stocked, and clean. The produce and meats are always fresh. It's the only place to shop.

Cranky staff. Deli personal do not ask you how you like your meats sliced. Stocking shelves during peak times.

This one hurts to write because I usually love the sandwiches here. The market is small but cute,…read morethey have fresh produce, tons of premade salads pastas and soups. A great cooler with local organic ice cream, and tons of organic sweet treats on your way to cash out.but my favorite is their full deli with plenty of options. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. This day I got the block island on a wrap and when I opened it i had never seen a sandwich wrap look like this. The center was all wrap. When i removed all the wrap in the center it was a very flat thin piece of meat. Maybe this just wasn't their day but i was disappointed when i got back home and opened it up. I won't let this stop me from going there again but if it happens again I won't order a deli sandwich again. I give this place five stars but on this particular day just 4. Side note my mom also got a sandwich a turkey on white and it was so soggy she said it wasnt edible. We only traveled about 15 minutes with them back home.

Shopped here and there's one item I couldn't stop buying. The SEAFOOD POT PIE. When visiting there for the day last September then back to CT. and NYC, bought one for dinner that night at a cousins house in CT. Now I just told a good friend there and he bought one for his first time last night. He's hooked!!! Loves it. It'll be a staple item for he and his wife. He sent me the picture. Slowly opened it and that was it. Raved about it. So you'll have a great steady customer there. Hopefully we'll visit friends there in September. Just wanted you to know.

This place would rank higher, and honestly, I don't think the negative is within their control, but…read moreit affected the shopping experience, nonetheless. Firstly, let's talk about the positives. For a big name grocery store, they have a very wide variety of many different things. For example, they have a huge selection of cheeses. They also have one of the biggest ice cream aisles I've seen. Prices are fair, but frozen apps/snacks are cheaper at Walmart. Soda is about the same price, and these guys have a wider selection. The meat and seafood section is really good too. Oh, and they have live lobsters. That seems rare for grocery stores these days, but it's much appreciated. Okay, good selection, good prices, I should've loved this place. But, I didn't. And that's because of the negative...the patronage. It's sort of an unfair quality to grade, because it's pretty much out of their control, but it severely negatively affects the shopping experience here. Multiple times, people just block the aisle, and they don't bother moving their cart out of the way when they see you. One person even parked his cart perpendicularly to the aisle. Excuse me, are we for real?? What the heck is that all about? Oh, you know how you're about to pop out of the aisle, and someone else was just about to cross as well? And you both stop and you both apologize and you both tell each other "Oh, no problem"? Oh, that doesn't happen here. Out of the 6 times I had that event, and I apologized... 1 time, they also apologized. 2 times, I got ignored. 1 time, I got an eye-roll. And 2 times, I got a death stare that was only stopped when I gave back a death stare. I mean, for real?? We're playing elementary school rules now, are we? I've only come across this type of behavior at this store. Even 4 miles down the road at Walmart, people are better-behaved. If you're on statins, I highly suggest not shopping here, because the environment will not be conducive to your condition.

Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island in particular, have a very strong Stop & Shop base. This store is in a busy area of Westerly, but it does have competition with an Aldi almost across the street and a SuperWalmart, less than a few miles away. I went to get some croutons for a quick lunch we were having and they had a nice large selection of them. Checkout was not too bad.

Exceptional Quality, Incredible Selection, and True Old‑School Service…read more Westerly Packing is one of those rare places that reminds you why local businesses matter. Every time I walk through the door, I'm greeted by the smell of fresh, high‑quality meats and the kind of friendly, knowledgeable service you just don't get anywhere else. Their butchers are true professionals -- you can ask for custom cuts, cooking tips, or recommendations, and they always take the time to help without rushing you along. The selection is outstanding. Whether you're looking for everyday staples, specialty cuts, or something unique for a holiday or big family gathering, they have it -- and it's always fresh. Their marinated options are consistently flavorful, their sausages are some of the best around, and their steaks are the kind you proudly serve to guests. You can tell everything is handled with care and pride. What really sets Westerly Packing apart is the experience. The staff treats you like a regular even if it's your first visit. The store is clean, well‑organized, and clearly run by people who love what they do. Prices are fair for the quality you're getting, and you always leave feeling like you got real value. If you care about great food and supporting a business that genuinely cares about its customers, Westerly Packing is a must. Five stars all the way. Ask them to try Westerlys gold!! We had a large crowd to feed after a long day at the beach and just wanted a few party side pizzas. We called around to all of the local pizza places and Big Y was the only place that would do them without 6 hours notice. We wouldn't have even thought of them but a local recommend we call them. We saved at least $100 by ordering here. Their party size cheese(40+ pieces) was the same prices as the large cheese pizzas that only had 10 slices at two other local pizza places. Another evening we decided we wanted lobsters. Called Big y to check prices and they were able to do 6 steamed lobsters 20 minutes after we called! We grabbed some, oysters, corn and potatoes and we were devouring our amazing meal less than an hour later for a fraction of what it would have cost to eat lobster out for 7 people. The steamed lobsters stayed very hot in the bags while we prepped our other food. The groceries may be a little pricier than average here but check out the extras that they offer for sure!
