Visiting from South Florida, my wife and I were hunting for a real sandwich, something with heart, not heat lamps and room temp pre-sliced meat. Break'n Bread Sandwich Shoppe delivered in every way. When you walk in the front door you see the chalkboard menus, pastries lined like trophies, the warm, hometown vibe made us feel instantly welcome. Sarah, the owner's cousin, greeted us like family and clearly proud of what is being built here! I ordered The Godfather, "a sandwich you can't refuse". Perfectly stacked, rich with flavor, and balanced like it was crafted by a culinary consigliere. My wife's Car's Caprese was fresh and vibrant, while our friend's Chicken Parm vanished before my eyes as it was unwrapped. The menu here is fabulous! We have been wanting to stop in on the way to RI for months now, and glad we finally got to try. It's your regular sandwich shop in a quaint plaza. For food we both liked our sandwiches, but would probably try a different kind next time. The Godfather is your typical Italian cold cut, plus a thick slice of mozz. I enjoyed that- but I think it needed mayo and a little more oil & vinegar. The bread was amazing. The cheeseburger grinder was good, not the best we've had, and also lacking some sauce. The bread was really awesome. Our recommendation would be to add more sauce or request something special. The coleslaw is more mayo based than vinegar-- so just not our cup of tea. But I love you get coleslaw OR chips with your sandwich. Complimentary sides are not common nowadays. Overall, we'd go again but will customize our sandwiches next time! read more

On the way to the casino, I took a small detour to Break'n Bread Sandwich Shoppe & Deli in Griswold. The place is very small and is geared towards takeout, limited space for eating by the window and there are 2 metal tables and chairs outside in the front (be aware of the hot air blowing out of the round vent from the business next door). The menu offerings include a variety of specialty sandwiches & classic sandwiches served on a 9" hero roll (from the Bronx) with chips or cole slaw, salads, break'n bread (toasted , baked goods, Atomic coffee and cold drinks. I ordered The Pietro ($10 plus tax), a cold sandwich served with cole slaw, which was made to order promptly and wrapped to go. The Pietro had oven roasted chicken, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, arugula, roasted red peppers, and mayo & pesto spread on a chewy toasted 9" roll. The small side of slaw had chopped cabbage in a mayo & vinegar base. The sandwich was very good. On my next visit here, I will get The Big Daddy (shaved steak, sharp provolone, gorgonzola, peppers, caramelized onions, garlic aioli)! read more

I have had Break'n Bread twice now and have been floored with the quality and the flavor profile of the sandwiches I've tried. I had the Chicken Verde and the Franky and i truly couldn't pick a favorite. The customer service was also so incredible, all the girls who helped me were super friendly and personable. Had the pleasure of trying this place out yesterday morning, and I can say it did not disappoint. Walking in was greeted by the Pleasant staff. Our order consisted of two breakfast sandwiches and a steak and cheese grinder which we ate our breakfast sandwiches there and they were good we also ordered a blueberry muffin and a pistachio muffin homemade and we are definitely going to be back!!! if you have the chance to try this place, please please do!!! read more

This hole in the wall is a must try. Great sub shop with nice people. Got The Godfather which was a well balanced classic Italian sub. Noticed they also serve breakfast too with NY style bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Will have to go back and try something else on the menu. read more

ordered over phone and asked about pastrami. was told there is a pastrami sandwich on the menu so I ordered for pickup. Upon arrival I see a pastrami Reuben on the special board. Note there were no specials posted on Facebook. Sandwich was slathered with overpowering horseradish mustard and terribly soggy Cole slaw. Pastrami was very fatty.
