That will not change with the exception of this property, I will not return. I have stayed at this property almost loyally for almost ten years whenever travels have brought me to Spartanburg, and I have never had a problem until this visit. I stayed at this property 8.30.2026 - 9.20.2026. Given my concerns over honesty I feel justified in that decision and want to caution other travelers of my experience that may stay here to exercise caution. When you leave make a sweep of the property make sure you grab all of your property, do not forget anything behind. About three hours after I checked out, I realized I had left clothes in the closet and promptly called the hotel to try to coordinate getting them back. I advised the gentleman specifically what was missing. About ten minutes later he called and advised they found only my work shirt and a sweater. All of my clothes were left hanging in the closet together. Why would I grab only two items and leave the others? The problem for me is the missing items have retail value of $150; Athleta brand linen jogger pants and an H & M beige color vest top. Now, clearly, I knew property was left behind and they knew because two of four items were returned. Where the other two items went I will never know. A co-worker retrieved the two items and sent them to me and I tried to follow-up with the hotel regarding the two pieces that were not returned. At this point I accept my property is lost for good. I called yesterday Sept. 10 and spoke with the woman who was at the front desk. She promised to look into the matter and get back to me on Sept. 11, no callback. I called at 9AM on Sept 11 and requested to speak with the manager, the same woman answered and she advised she did not know when the manager would be available but she would give him the message to return my call. Six hours later no callback. I decided ok, this is important to me but clearly not to the hotel so I contact IHG directly. Within 15 minutes of hanging up the phone rings and the manager calls. I will say he did absolutely nothing to help the situation it was all deflect and cover his staff. Not a modicum of empathy. He tried to speak over me and said, "That's your theory." I should have expected as much given how this entire situation was handled by this particular property. Again, this is simply my experience and caution to you. My room was clean, I did sleep fine the three nights I stayed, the breakfast was meh, but it was free, and it was pretty much what you would expect of hotel breakfast. The staff for the most part was cordial. Not returning all of my property is a deal breaker for me. Next trip to Spartanburg I will stay at the Hampton Inn across the street.

The staff was VERY nice and frankly mad a mediocre stay better. I felt safe. It is off the interstate toward and convenient as you travel to HHI. Overall worth the price but not up to the Marriott name.

It may have been the coolest hotel I've stayed at in years. It looked like townhouses! Upon my entry, I was greeted by a very cheery front desk person, which is not always the case at Marriotts. This very happy woman told me it was one of an only few remaining Residence Inns similar to this. When done checking in, I found out that she was the GM! In the last few years of Marriotts I have only met a handful of GMs that actually interact with guests and staff. This woman's name is Renee, and whatever Marriot's chain is, she should be promoted. Now to my room. I was on the second floor, so no one was running around the room above me. Immediately, opening the door, I saw a stairway. It leads upstairs to a large king size bed and bathroom! This provides room for two families. The first floor consists of a living and eating area, kitchen, with full size refrigerator, stove top, and dishwasher, a king size bed and bath. What more could you want! The MOST important thing about hotels, this room was SPOTLESS!! Extremely CLEAN. The breakfast is similar to most Marriotts, however, in the morning, everyone that walks in is greeted by the woman that definitely keeps the breakfast area stocked... more importantly, CLEAN! The hotel has a very friendly atmosphere - even the person that I assume is the main engineer for the hotel. If you are anywhere near Spartanburg SC, don't look elsewhere, this Residence Inn is a MUST for travelers, you won't be disappointed, especially by the CLEANINESS and FRINDLENESS!

Everyone made us feel so comfortable and like family. We were lucky enough to be there on Buff circle night and for a $20 donation we were able to eat all we wanted of some really delicious food. I had been looking for venues where I could play outside and somehow or another Google led me here so I sent them a request letter. I quickly got an email back from CFR inviting me to come play, they had no problem paying my asking price. They even offered to put me up for the night. When we pulled into the campground, it just looked like a normal campground. Campers everywhere, kids playing, people on golf carts...then we passed by a naked guy washing his car. My wife looked at me with big eyes,said "That guy was naked!" and started to giggle. We checked in at the office, and the lady who checked us in, Bev, was fully dressed. We signed some paper that basically said we would behave, and were given a key to a cabin. We drove over and took our stuff in. I asked my wife if she was coming to the pool for my gig. She just laughed, gave me a kiss, and told me to go have fun. On the way out the door I stopped, looked at my wife and said screw it, and I got undressed. "When in Rome".... I'm not going to lie. I was not in my comfort zone. I was contracted to play from 3-6. Audience response was good. I got laughter at all of the right places, people came up to say hi and thank me for playing, people were dancing. I'd say the average age was mid 50s and up. There was every body shape and size you could possibly imagine. Stretch mark's, flabby bellies and boobs, saggy butts, old faded tattoos and when they start dancing all that starts moving around... But after 10-20 minutes something in your brain changes. You stop noticing all of that and you just see people enjoying themselves. At one point this young 25 year old woman with a perfect body, meaning not a blemish, not a scar, not a stretch mark, with great perfect muscle tone walked up and threw me a tip. Her nudity didn't even register, at least not in any sexual way. I noticed how nice her skin was. I was jealous of her youth, I noticed her smile and how warm and friendly she came across. Any sexuality related to nudity was simply non-existent. at some point later I was talking to one gentleman and remarked how incredible it was to see how accepting everyone was and how comfortable everyone was in their own skin. He told me "That's because we're all perfect just the way we are" He is right. After I was done with my gig (I played 2:45-6:15 with no breaks) I went back to the cabin where my wife was resting and we went to the bonfire. There were people there from age 20 to 70. Some wre nude, some were dressed. Being nude was no different that not being nude. Nobody acknowledged one or the other, except to compliment one of the younger girls on a pair of boots she was wearing. If you want to be naked, be naked. If you don't want to be naked, don't be naked. It was no different than wearing a ball cap or a watch. My wife is very modest and had earlier told me that she was not getting naked, no how, no way, simply ain't happening. CFR is CLothing Optional and the only places where nudity is required are the Hot Tub and the pool. We went to the hot tub and she got got naked and got in. A little later she got in the pool as well. A couple of people walked by and she tensed up, but she held her ground and walked thru her anxiety. Sunday Morning we awoke to rain. We decided to go hit the hot tub before leaving and once again she got nude. This time several people came by and they all thanked me for playing. The entire weekend (Sat noon - Sunday noon) the people could not have possibly been any more friendly and welcoming. They would make it a point to say hello, ask if we needed anything, people offered to feed us. It was the most welcoming, inviting, accepting group of people I remember ever encountering in the last decade or two. When we left I was a bit down. I wasn't looking forward to having to return to the real world, the one that makes you wear pants. Visiting CFR is a life changing experience. I don't know about any other resort, but when this one says it is family oriented, what they really mean is they treat each other, and the guests, like family. They are interested in you. They want to get to know you. The nudity is just an added benefit, the real draw here is the camaraderie, the sense of community. I guess the nudity helps to facilitate that but they treat the sense of community as the utmost, primary principle here. We have be come regulars here, visiting one weekend a month. Our favorite time to visit is in the winter. There are less people, Things are quieter and slower, The pool is closed, but the Hot Tub which is at a constant 104 degrees is always open That Hot Tub is something else.
