My husband and I chose the Fairfield Inn for reasons 99% of those seeking a hotel would not…read moreconsider. A very serious ice/snow storm was forecaster for our area and, as we don't have a generator at our home, we needed to find a hotel on a main road that might not lose power. Due to their reviews and location, we chose to stay at the Fairfield for three days. While power went out at our home for over 25 hours, the power and the internet at the Fairfield remained in place. We had selected a room with a king bed. The room was tastefully decorated with ample sources to charge our electronics. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable. Though, I really think the bathroom was the most remarkable aspect of the suite. The shower is quite large--as is the bathroom itself--and the bathroom mirror has LED lighting, The breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) was outstanding. There were eggs and bacon or sausage, a pancake bar, and a very generous cereal and granola bar. Finally, the staff--including the manager Nick Tarleton--couldn't have been more helpful, friendly, and focused on the cleanliness of the facility. Hunkering down in the hotel (unable to leave because of the storm), we saw them often. A special shout-out to the woman who manages the dining area--she was a delight to encounter each morning. Unfortunately, their pool area was closed due to updates, however, we did go into the gym which contained new equipment and generous options for working out. To summarize, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Fairfield. Very easy access off of I-26, which makes it a great base for seeing the many sites and mountain destinations for which western North Carolina is known.

So I have been staying here a few times a year. Parking is around the perimeter of the hotel and you can use your key to enter from doors near where you park. On my last visit, I got back late from a performance so I appreciated the multiple entry doors and all the lighting in the parking lot as the spots in front were taken. When I arrived, I was given a feather-free room but on the second floor. The room was clean. The walls were on the thin side or the couple next to me were just loud talkers. The tv lineup was good for the little time I was in the room. WIFI was in the good range. Breakfast had a pancake maker; waffle maker, mini quiches and breakfast sandwiches; some cereals; oatmeal and breads. The hotel is good for an overnight stay.

"Our only regret is that we booked just one night!"…read more We've stayed at several B&Bs, and The Red Horse Inn ranks among the very best. Every detail was exceptional--from the thoughtful touches in the room to the breathtaking scenery. We're already looking for an excuse to return to South Carolina so we can spend more time here. This stay was part of a planned road trip through North and South Carolina, and the experience began well before we arrived. In the weeks leading up to our visit, Christian reached out multiple times to confirm our preferences and arrival details. It was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel genuinely welcomed, like our stay truly mattered. The arrival and check-in instructions were clear, warm, and inviting--more like being welcomed as guests than customers. The drive in sets the tone beautifully, winding through the rolling hills of northwest South Carolina, past lush forests and open pastures. Eventually, you arrive at an unassuming gate off the road, leading past a small pond and into the woods. A short drive up a gravel road brings you to the main inn. The building houses four guest rooms along with common spaces used during their wine bar events. There are also several private cottages on the property, which we didn't explore--but after this stay, they're definitely on our radar for next time. We stayed in the Gable Room, located up a flight of stairs with its own private ground-level entrance. A personalized note greeted us at the door, and inside, a beautifully arranged welcome letter awaited us on the bed, surrounded by rose petals--an elegant and memorable touch. The room itself was stunning. Our favorite details included the lace-draped bed, the cozy gas fireplace, the relaxing jetted tub, and the incredible balcony view. It truly felt like every possible need had been anticipated--from plush robes to well-stocked kitchenette supplies, even down to small, thoughtful items like bandages by the sink - just in case. And the bed--absolutely incredible. The memory foam mattress and feather pillows made for one of the best nights of sleep of the trip. Waking up to a sunrise over the pasture, with horses grazing against a mountain backdrop, was nothing short of magical. We spent the morning on the balcony, setting up the chairs and tray tables to enjoy coffee in the early sun. It was completely peaceful--just the sounds of birds, a few wild turkeys, and the occasional soft chuff from the horses. We were genuinely disappointed to be leaving after just one night. Throughout the rest of our trip--and even now--we keep talking about how much we wish we had stayed two or three nights instead. If there's one small area for improvement, it would be the Wi-Fi. The signal in our room was a bit weak, and the streaming-only TV had trouble connecting. That said, in a place like this, you may find you don't miss it at all. It didn't detract from our experience, and certainly not enough to impact our rating. Overall, a 10/10 experience. We even had the pleasure of meeting Christian, Allison, and Griffin on our way out--they are an absolutely charming family. Thank you for an unforgettable stay. We can't wait to return. PS- Happy Birthday Allison, and a very Happy Anniversary to you both!

The 16' yurt was incredible! It was so clean, well appointed, and spacious. The queen bed is super comfy, bathroom lovely, kitchenette had all we needed! We were there during the week and had our whole section of the campground to ourselves and we had the pool completely to ourselves 2 days in a row The 1st night there was a whopping thunderstorm and our yurt was so cozy! Lying in bed watching the lightning through the skylight and hearing the rain on the canvas will always be a favorite memory for us! The whole resort is so well thought out and the people are super sweet! Thank you Nancy for being so kind and accommodating!

I feel so lucky that we found this cute campground! Because of the fires there was a burn ban however it wasn't a problem. We were camping in our RV but there are so many great accommodations if you don't have anything to camp in. To me the best thing was the bathroom and shower! I have never been to a campground that had such great showers!! Incredibly clean and they have shampoo, conditioner and body wash in there for you to use. They even had towels rolled up in cubbies! Who has that! We loved it so much that we already booked a spot for next year :)

The Reach is situated high up on the property, above all the other cottages. Each cottage is completely secluded with its own driveway, hot tub, and fireplace or wood burning stove. There are trails on the property, which we greatly enjoyed, and the stargazing at night is spectacular. Cathy and her family were absolutely wonderful hosts. We mentioned we were taking this trip shortly after our anniversary, and we arrived to find a bottle of champagne, chocolates, and roses waiting for us. Oh and they really do leave you farm fresh eggs, fresh baked bread, and plenty of chopped firewood as well! The kitchen has all the gadgets you'd need for basic meals, as well at a Keurig and a little stockpile of coffee and hot cocoa. This was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had, and I nearly cried when it was time to leave. We are already planning our trip back. Location is great too, not too far at all from Black Mountain and Asheville, and a short ride from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This place is worth every single penny, don't let the one or two negative reviews impact to your decision. Please stay here!
