I had worked in Veterinary Medicine for years, and had never heard of that but let it go. I also asked about a cone for his procedure upon pickup, and was told "he should be fine". By Tuesday he was unable to hold his urine, straining to pee, and hind end shaking. Wednesday he was vomiting, didn't sleep at all in the night, and would not eat. Still straining to pee and urinating all over the house (on accident). I called to speak with someone on this, and I was told I would need to make an appointment. I explained that they were over an hour from me (this is not my regular vet, it is the vet the rescue used), and asked if they would be waving my exam fee to be seen since he was just in on Monday. Again, after working in vet med it is pretty customary to get a free recheck after a procedure. I was cut off while asking and was just told "That is completely up to the Doctor". Got it. Can someone please ask before I drive over an hour each way or pay my regular vet to fix a problem that he did not start? I told her never mind, and contacted my regular vet. My regular vet said that he also had never heard of a standard neuter resulting in such an exorbitant amount of antibiotics, and wondered if there was some sort of contamination during the procedure that I was not made aware of. My vet also mentioned that the pain medication that he was put on, is really not standard for the procedure that he was given. I spent $400 at my current vet (more than the cost of the neuter), and we are hoping that they did not do any internal damage which is making it hard for him to hold his bladder, or be unsure when to release it. Overall, I am not pleased with the level of care OR the client service. I would not recommend you bring your pet here, and based upon the reviews there is an overall lack of care by many. Save your pets and your wallets, find another provider.

We gave her those pills like they told us to. One with every meal. And once we stopped the real problems began. We can't get her to stop licking her privates and she has completely licked the skin off that area. If she DID have a yeast infection then somehow after this visit it got 10x worse. I had tried to keep things cheap because I'm 18 and was doing this so my mom didn't have to. But they kept telling me "you're paying for the check up, but do you want the exam?" "You're paying for the exam, but do you want the results?" "you're paying for the results, but do you want the treatment?" These people are a bunch of scammers. And it's either a coincidence or the pills made her worse and I don't know how to fix it. The only helpful thing they did was hold back some woman's crazy German shepherd from trying to attack my dog.

Scooping him up like he was one of their very own and taking the best care of him. Honestly, I've never met staff who understand the pain of potentially losing the oldest animal in a home filled with kids who love them until these kind folks. Heather, took me aside personally and explained absolutely -everything- and took the time to discuss what needed to be done and how, along with his chances of survival given his age. Despite the odds, I was convinced I would not be coming home with our old man and I am overjoyed to be able to say HE IS HOME and doing SO WELL! He's eating. He's cuddly. The nurses and receptionist are friendly and attentive. Dr. Lynch took time to explain in great detail what all of my Boston terrier's lab results meant, rather than just giving me a bottom line. When it came time to pay for the services, I was mindful of how much I as a human appreciate insurance. You do pay for this level of care. The office visit was $54. It cost about $200 for blood and urine tests. 14 pills and 12 cans of special dog food set me back about $80. I'd say my dog was worth the expense, and she is. But, part of the reason I came here was because I thought Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital was too expensive. It seems that if you want quality, you have to pay for it.

He charged me almost $900 to diagnose an infection. He told me that my cat's liver had an infection and was 3 times it's normal size, putting pressure on her stomach and that's why she would not eat. I'm not a doctor but that did not make much sense to me at the time, how an infection could affect a liver in any animal so dramatically but I had been here before so I trusted him. HUGE MISTAKE!!! My cat stopped eating again and I took her to another vet who charged me $240 to diagnose that she had a fatty liver and a life-threatening liver issue, I can't remember the exact term was. He said had I brought the cat in sooner he could have done something, but now the best thing to do is to put her to sleep. This veterinarian at Pets Ahoy charged almost $900, and KILLED MY CAT. Had I gone to a real veterinarian that cared less about money and more about the animal my cat would have been properly diagnosed at less cost and I would not be setting an appointment right now to put her to sleep. Dr Williams whom built this practice on morals, ethics, and care has retired and sold this practice to a man that wishes to drive a Bentley. He did nothing to build this practice or its reputation, he bought it and I was completely blindsided when he walked into the door for my cats original appointment. Nobody notified me that this practice now belonged to someone else. I was pushed into a corner where my cat was not eating and I was now at a veterinarian that I did not know but knew that she needed help fast. I would have never have gone there had I been notified and given the opportunity to look on the internet and find all the negative reviews of this man. Had I walked out I would have saved hundreds of dollars and my cat's life! I provided a photo of what this doctor did to my cat. Notice how skinny she is, and she is hiding in a corner of my house waiting to die!!!!!! My children are absolutely heartbroken, this animal deserved better.
