Went to Bayside Bull for the first time today. It was excellent. Not since I left Baltimore city limits years ago did I think I would find a place outside of Baltimore that had a good pit beef sandwich. These were delicious, generous-sized sandwiches. We like ours with White Onion, Tiger Sauce, a small dollop of BBQ sauce (Texas was our favorite) and black pepper. The Pit Ham sandwich was also very good. Of the sides, we loved the fries---fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside, fresh and hot with just the right amount of salt. The Coleslaw was our second favorite side--not too sweet with a nice fresh 'bite' to the cabbage. The Potato salad and Pasta salad were good too. The crew was friendly, helpful and very fast. This is pretty much a grab and go place -- hope someday they add some seating but it definitely had the feel of most pit beef places in my memory. For those not familiar, pit beef is largely a Maryland (and particularly Baltimore) thing. I didn't realize that until I moved away an people had no idea what I was talking about. Some Texan friends of mine referred to it as Baltimore BBQ, which I never understood as to me it's so different than BBQ. If you're not from around here, give it a try. I cant wait to try their other menu items but it will be hard to tear myself away from the delicious beef. read more

Wow, talk about perfectly executed meat! We got the pulled pork and beef sandwiches and they were SPOT ON! It is honestly the best cooked pulled pork and roast beef I've ever had. Both were soft and juicy and not in the least bit dry. They're a bit low on flavor, but they have a ton of sauces, horseradish, and vinegar for you to add to the sandwiches to your liking. The customer service was so good, they noticed I had a dog and offered to give him a bag of "scraps" (I've never seen such appetizing scraps before). Oh and the fries! They're perfectly salted, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, and full of flavor because they're fried in peanut oil! We stopped at Bayside Bull for lunch on a Sunday. This was our first time trying the Bull - passed it numerous times but never pulled in. Our loss! The staff is fantastic and right on top of things. While we were deciding on our sandwiches, one of the guys behind the counter asked if we were getting fries. Good move, because it obviously takes longer to get the fries prepared than the sandwiches. If you're getting them (and I recommend you do) they're ready when your sandwiches are. I had the pit beef with onions, mayo and horseradish. My wife had the smoked pulled pork sandwich. Both sandwiches were piled high for only $6.75 each. We loved our sandwiches and the fries were awesome! Pair great food and great service and you have the Bayside Bull! They also have sodas, chips, etc. you won't be disappointed! read more

This place had great sandwiches and fast service. The only complaint I have is that they don't have a bathroom or even a place to wash your hands, you have to go to a filthy port-a-John to use the bathroom. I know it's a carry out spot but they could at least have a sink to wash your hands. After going across the street to use the bathroom and wash my hands I really enjoyed my 2 sandwiches and delicious french fries. Another amazing experience at Bayside! We were so hungry we waited outside the door a few minutes before opening(which I'm sure is annoying) but regardless, we were greeted with smiling eyes above a fitted mask! All the employees were clean, masked up and very hard at work. They were patient and kind while we mulled over the menu and helped us choose what we wanted today! The steak and cheese with mushroom sauce was the special of the day so we got that, tiger sauce on the side and a bunch of BBQ to go for dinner tonight! The sandwich was amazing, per usual. The absolute best pit beef sandwich anywhere!!!!! Order it rare with onion and horseradish, add a little bbq sauce and your taste buds will not know what hit them. The turkey with onion, pork BBQ with Cole slaw and the sliced pork are also great, but do not come close to that rare pit beef sandwich. The Bayside Bull team is fast, efficient and friendly, what more could you ask for. They also have a "secret menu" where you can get your sandwich with extra meat and "scraps" for your dog! Bayside has been around for decades right off Central Ave in Edgewater. My family has been ordering their bbq for carryout lunches and for catered parties for years. Inside there's not much space and you can't eat inside. The people are really friendly and quick to greet and take your order. I recommend the pit beef and the pulled pork. Their chili is delicious as well. The sides that I have tried: coleslaw, potato salad, and baked beans are very tasty. The fries are always hot and fried to order. They aren't true fresh cut fries, but are still good. I wish they were more like boardwalk style fries. They always have freshly brewed sweet and unsweetened tea which is becoming something of a rarity these days. read more

Ive used their catering side several time. The last 2 times were bad experiences. Besides them forgetting food, hamburgers looking like hockey pucks, hotdogs looking tie dyed green and pink, not explaining their food, substituting food at 9pm in an email. Sliced roman tomatoes for hamburger. The food was 45 minutes late because they did have hotdog buns. The rest of the food was delivered. After most of the guests were eating desserts. One of the first places I want to go when I am back in town to see family and friends. I remember washing dishes in this place before it was even a BBQ joint, and was called the Country Kitchen. I also remember getting the Pit BBQ sadwiches after lacrosse games at this place before it had taken over and remodeled the Crunchy Kitchen. The atmosphere is the same before and after remodeling, but the food is amazing. The Pulled Pork w/slaw is the best sandwich in the country, and hasn't changed since I can remember. Just like Andrew L. said, know what you want (you want the pulled pork w/slaw) and bring cash and a place to eat (your car). What can I say? Bayside Bull is the epitome of efficiency and consistency. I have entered during a busy lunch rush, ordered, paid, received my food, and have been back out in the parking lot in less than two minutes. On a regular basis. Note...there is a certain rhythm between the employees and regular customers, so don't be "That Guy" who throws it all out of whack. Don't be shy. When they yell at you for your order, yell right back, and be clear as to what you want. If you want to stare at a menu and mull it over for a while, there is a McDonald's down the road. The food is top-notch. The roast beef is delicious, the turkey is moist, and the pork bbq is fantastic. The ham is generally excellent, but occasionally can drift towards the dry side. The menu is simple, maybe a little limited, but they know their strengths and stick to them. They have not had soups lately, which is too bad, because their stews and chilis were excellent. I suspect that the soup may be seasonal...fall and winter...so I will wait patiently for their return. The sides, cole slaw and potato salad, are a little understated, confined in small containers in the soda cooler. They could probably bump up that size a bit and make them more a part of the experience. The fries, on the other hand, are ridiculous. Hot, salty, and almost illegally delicious. One hint...if you are not going to eat them in your car, peel the foil covering the cup back so that they don't steam and get limp. Trust me on that. Some minor quibbles...horseradish is pretty tame, could use more of a bite. This goes for the bbq sauce, too. I'd like to see something with some serious heat. And (this is not limited to Bayside Bull) enough with the obnoxious little ketchup packets. By the time I get the little pool of ketchup that I require to drown my fries, my food is cold. Splurge and get the pump and little plastic cups with lids. This is the kind of a place that is the anti-chain restaurant. Employees who genuinely care and move like their lives depend on it. Whenever I visit family I make sure to stop here at least one time for lunch or dinner. My favorite options are the Pit beef sandwich and an order of fries. Yum, yum, yum! This is a bare bones (pardon the pun) bbq joint that is as good as it gets. We ran across it today totally by accident and decided to stop without knowing it was a local institution. Don't be discouraged by the lack of seating inside. Everything is packed to go and you can eat outside, in your car, or take it home (if you can resist it that long)! They had pulled beef, pork, and turkey and all the traditional sides (slaw, potato salad, chips, fries). The prices are very reasonable, the service is fast, and the food is fantastic. We had two sandwiches, two sides, and drinks all for about $15. Worth making a special trip next time! read more
