I'm a huge fan of slow and low smoked barbecue, so when this place popped up on my Yelp I had to pull up to see what it was hittin on. Walking in it definitely passes the eye test. Looking through the menu I really thought I had found a gem. However, not so much. The armadillo eggs were supposed to be fried brisket and cheese stuff jalapenos. which sounds amazing, but the filling was more like a puree of brisket and cheese, weird texture definitely no tender bits of brisket which was a shock. I would've like some chopped brisket in the filler, but the texture was way off. I went on to have the smokehouse sampler with Chicken, Brisket, and Pulled pork. I got Brussel sprouts and mac & cheese for sides. The brisket was dry and felt reheated. The chicken was tough and the breast was over cooked, and the pulled pork was dry and bland. The only thing saving this food was the sauces. For a smokehouse, the food doesn't have the flavor profile of smoked meat. My wife got the eastportorican, which is a cuban, but it was dry. There was only 1 server for all the tables, so I'm not sure if they were just under staffed and having a hard time, but you only get one chance at a first impression and this was not a good one. I actually had no complaints about our server either, she was doing better than most people would in her situation, and the customers were pretty patient. read more

Loved it years ago. A few trips recently have been less favorable. BBQ was dry. A BBQ place should be consistent and the servers should be able to look at a plate, see it's dry, and not serve it to you. The wings are good. They're not as crazy good as some people say. Skin can be gummy. Buffalo sauce is mild. Meat is great. Better than most wings. Bartenders are consistently friendly when you walk in but then get distracted. Has happened last few times. Got wings last time, ordered blue cheese, came with ranch. No one noticed. Asked again for blue cheese. Never got it. They have good live music often. The stage area is odd though. It's kind of behind a low wall. There is no great place to watch the band other than one table right in front. They should take down the walls unless they need them for something else. That said, the walls are nice to lean on. Maybe make them railings... I do like the place and see that it is a popular local favorite for people who live in the area. Just hasn't wow'd me lately. I'll give the brisket one more chance. They have daily food and happy hour specials worth asking about. Then check your receipt and make sure you get that discount. read more

Very casual tavern that serves bbq. I made a reservation here, but I don't think I needed it because I showed up and it was empty haha. I ordered 2 appetizers: smoked wings and the beer batter covered onion rings! We only got a half order of the onion rings per the suggestion of our waiter, which I'm glad we took because the few pieces we got were huge and filling! We had the smoked wings tossed in the fire sauce, but it didn't actually taste spicy to us. For the entree I ordered the Texas brisket (sides: mashed potatoes and collard greens), which came with all sauces in to-go containers. The brisket was a little dry to me, but the sauces definitely helped! My husband ordered a burger that came with house chips, which he said was the perfect thickness and very crispy! Even though the brisket was a bit dry, I would still recommend it because it thought it still had a delicious smokey flavor. I think next time I would probably hold off on the appetizers because by the time our entrees came, I only took a few bites and had to take it home, same for my husband! read more

The first time we ate here the food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the brisket sandwich, corn bread, and sloppy Joe. The corn bread was one of the best I've ever tasted! Second time we ate here the corn bread was super dry and so disappointing because we loved it so much the first time. The brisket sandwich wasn't as stacked as the first time and also was sliced up differently. A barbecue spot with great sauces and a variety of meats! Just want to start off by saying the place was very accommodating. Went here with a party of 7 and they were willing to move tables and even give us multiple to allow our group to sit together. The service was excellent and the saving grace for the place. That and the sauces. The wings were a bit expensive but they do have a warning on the window about a wing shortage and thus a spike in prices. The wing sauces however were quite delicious. The different flavors of barbecue sauces definitely hit the spot. Outside of that the food was very average. Nothing else stood out to me saying "I have to go back to try that again." Unfortunately they were also out of pulled pork which two of the people in my party were looking forward to try. Overall a decent experience for our party and we tipped well. After a long day of traveling thru torrential downpours, we stopped in for a quick bite to eat and were so pleasantly surprised by this place!! The minute we walked in the door, Jen the bartender (and co-owner) welcomed us in and immediately made us feel like one of the many locals she continued to greet and chat with!! Throughout the night, she made a list, with the help of other locals, of places to eat and see while we're here for a week. We ordered wings, which Jen suggested we do "naked" and she brought us 6-7 different sauces to try and every one was sooo good! I had a beet salad with apple balsamic vinaigrette and my husband had a sampler platter with brisket that fell off the fork because it was so tender. Everything was absolutely delicious! Located in a strip mall, you'll find Annapolis Smokehouse. We grabbed a (very wobbly) table outside: I love that there is outdoor seating, I don't love that it's next to a busy road and parking lot. We each grabbed a beer: Gose blood orange for him and I got an Austin East blood orange cider (which wasn't labeled as a cider, I definitely thought it was a seasonal beer, mildly disappointed). We ordered a 1/4 rack of ribs as a starter. I liked that we could order a small portion as a starter so we could try other BBQ options. The ribs were amazing and really did fall off the bone. I lover the Kansas City sauce and hubs stuck with Carolina mustard. For entrees I went with a pulled pork sandwich and he ordered the smoked fried chicken. Pulled pork was fine and came with slaw. Next time I'd probably get the slaw on the side. The smoked fried chicken was 3 pieces of chicken the dark meat was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone under a crunchy breading. The breast was really dry and borderline inedible. The breading was seasoned incredibly and really was a win, I've literally never had anything like it. The sides we went with were fried corn (steamed corn beer battered and fried), which was super different and really good. Not a first date food because it's on the cobb, but the batter is very tasty. Brussels sprouts(we're okay, could have cooked longer) and [at the recommendation of our server] we also had sweet potatoes (mashed and super sweet, could have been dessert). Our server was hilarious, very funny guy and while he didn't check on us frequently, we were pleased with service. Overall we'd come back especially for the fried chx platter would love to see a white meat/dark meat option next time. read more

Me and my family love to eat here. The food is mostly good, and I've only had good experiences. Smokehouse is an easy go to place and we love to watch sports events here. The service is amazing and I love the simplicity of the restaurant. You do not need to dress up or anything it is just a quick and easy place to grab a bite. There's always good service and the food is always delicious. The one bad dish I had was fish and chips...but hey! who orders fish and chips from a BBQ restaurant. I really like this place. The food is really good and our server Lela was so sweet and accommodating. She explained to us that the sandwiches and meats come dry and you can use the different sauces with them if you can nail down one particular one that you like. Overall we tried 5 different flavors and I learned that I like Bourbon Cherry while hubs liked the regular BBQ and the spicy habanero. It was a tasty lunch that will send you home to take a nap. They have some very unique items on the menu such as their nachos and they have a decent selection of beers. By far amongst the best bbq I've had! The ribs were smoked to perfection. A number of sauces were at the table with my faves being the bourbon cherry (a little sweet) and fire sauce (spicy) - sweet and spicy :) Our server took the time to explain each sauce to us. After seeing pics of the fried corn on the cob I knew that had to be one of my sides. You definitely can't go wrong with this choice. Lightly battered in something amazing - I swear I've never tasted anything quite like it. And I have had fried corn before. I rounded out my meal with the collard greens and loved the vinegar base reminding me of how my grandma use to do it. We stopped here after taking our lab for a swim at the dog beach. We sat outside with her and (I think he was an owner or manager) came and took our order.
