The food at Chris' is awesome. Today was my first visit. I intended to stop in for a light lunch but the menu has so many great options. I chose the falafel pita, and elected to make it a platter. Even with huge portions, the price was still a bargain. The Greek side salad was crisp and tasty. They brought out a bottle of house-made dressing. There were so many chunks of Falafel in the pita, and the mound of rice with it was huge (you can have fries instead). I enjoyed a beer with it and the frosty mug that came out with it actually had little icicles on the rim. My server was Billy, who was very friendly and attentive. Loved this place when it was on West Street. Just went to the new location in Edgewater. Service was good, and the Greek food was good, but the pizza quality has really declined. The crust was flat and dense and appeared from the hash marks on the bottom to have been cooked on a rack. Really tasted more like a frozen pizza than the great pizza previously made on west street. Still a nice family-oriented place, just not good for pizza anymore. read more

I ordered a famous gyro which was the worst I have ever tasted. I lived in Greece for 3 years and never had a gyro this awful. The meat was so dry and had absolutely no flavor. Even the tzatziki was used sparingly which was disappointing. Would never recommend this dish. read more

So, they haven't been re-opened for too long. They were packed tonight so the service was slow, waited for 10 minutes for a menu in a "seat yourself" joint. Tried to order a combo plate and was told they "were too busy". That might need to change or put a disclaimer on the menu. For the goods, the food is just as good as it used to be at the old location and the prices are still reasonable. We used to like Chris' when it was on West street, but the Edgewater location is not the same. My wife ordered a gyro and what was brought out was inedible, she sent it back. The meat was dried out and leather like. The steak and cheese sub I ordered was not much better. The meat was grey and tasteless. Very unlikely that we will ever return here again. read more

I had not gone to Chris Charcoal Pit since before it was destroyed by the tornado. Decide to try the New location. Ordered Pasticio which comes with a salad and pita bread. It was very dry, no flavor, very little meat and sauce. It was covered in oregano. Lots béchamel sauce. Not impressed. The previous Pasticio that was served when they were on West Street tasted like Pasticio this does not. I don't know what happened to the recipe. I Haven't been to Chris' since it moved from Annapolis and reopened in Edgewater. Top notch food and amazingly generous portions. The three of us shared delicious Falafel...crispy, crunchy and tender inside with well seasoned Tzatziki. My platter contained a generous portion of pasticcio, 2 huge dolmas, 1 good sized piece of spanakopita, gyro meat and chicken, a serving of tzatziki, pita and a fresh greek salad with a fabulous dressing. Each portion was beautifully seasoned too. I ate the salad, a little gyro meat with tzatziki, some Pasticcio and took home the rest for a lovely reheat dinner! Food was out of this world. Perhaps the best dolmades we've ever had. Vegetables were fresh and flavor was perfect for everything we had from the tuna salad to the Greek sample platter. I've heard good things about this place. It relocated to a new location in Edgewater , after a long absence in Annapolis because of destruction by tornado. My review is only based on my gyros sandwich. It may seem unfair and I agree. Here, gyros packs 2-3 times more meat than any other gyros from elsewhere. To me, it is more meat than I think necessary. Onion is chopped up too small to give texture to each bite. There was no lettuce. Instead, a few slices of cucumber were added. Tomato's was ripened and flavorful. Unfortunately, there was not enough sauce to last the entire sandwich. So, overall, the gyros was not what so expected. After taxes, my gyros sandwich alone was about $13.78. The gyros is nothing to write home about. I am not giving up on this joint just yet. I will try again and hopefully will give higher rating. read more

My first visit to Chris' Pit and it was exceptional. I don't know how we got the best server but He was dynamic. It was a special occassion and I had dinner with my son, his date & my wife. The meal was less than $100 and with the delicious food we got it was a steal. I was impressed with the servers way of hadnling the order and the way it was delivered. Also, while we were finishing up our meal, the female server stopped and picked up finished plates and glasses it seem very effecient. The waitress was friendly and it was a good place for families. I went with family and their orders were fine. I ordered a Mediterranean salad with shrimp. It came in a big bowl which had mostly lettuce and few veggies. The problem was the shrimp. They were small and dry. They curled as if it was over done. For the price I payed it should have been medium sized grilled shrimp and not chalky dry. Very disappointed. read more

It's located on West Street in a strip mall painted white with blue doors. Been open since the 1980's but with new owners. They recently expanded their dining room. Seating is seat yourself and someone comes by quickly to take your drink order. My experience with Greek food is rather sparse just consisting of this place, Hellas, and someplace in Alexandria. The restaurant has a rather hole in the wall feel, but is decorated with paintings of Greek countryside. A video showing stunning pictures of Greece plays non-stop. Due to Covid, they give you plastic cups and silverware(ok...). As far as the food, it is rather basic but filling and good. I always get the Athenian Delight which is chicken souvlakia wrapped in a warm thick pita piled with fresh lettuce, onion, tomato and garnished with fresh parsley leaves and tzatziki. My advice is to order the sandwich and not the platter and save $8.00. The platters come with salad which is the same stuff on the sandwich and a side of rice or fries. You can just order the fries or rice separate for $3.75 each. I have never tried the gyro, but my coworkers rave about it. The baklava is always tasty. Chris' Charcoal Pit is worth checking out when in Annapolis for basic Greek food. read more

I am beyond ecstatic that Chris's was able to re-open after that devastating tornado! We are in Crofton, MD (not sure why it says we are in Arlington?) and have loved their food for years (especially their cheesesteaks!!!!) but it is their staff and especially the owners who keep us coming back no matter where they are. Our girls love their pasta and their baklava and dolmades are exceptional. Even with their new location, their quality of food and service is fantastic and not to be missed.
