The restaurant is fantastic. It's definitely a must go location while you're on the island. Super nice staff and great food. We loved the crab cake sandwich. The coleslaw and corn pudding were great. We also loved sampling different flavors of Smith Island Cake. All restaurants on the island close by late afternoon, so you may want to get a meal to go, so you have something to eat for dinner.

The Crab Place -- Crisfield, MD…read more Steamed Crab Heaven, Delivered Across the Country We've been ordering from The Crab Place since our DC days--over 9 years ago--and have continued every year even after relocating across the country to Reno/Sparks. The FedEx overnight shipping for these time-sensitive, freshly steamed Maryland blue crabs is insanely expensive--but so worth every penny. The crabs arrive fat, rich, and impossibly sweet--capturing the inimitable flavor that makes Maryland blues stand out. Don't get me wrong--I love Alaskan King, Dungeness, and Snow Crabs, but only Maryland blues have my heart. The Company puts a lot of love into protecting that perfection: - Crabs are packed in styrofoam crates with bubble wrap barriers to shield them from the dry ice, so nothing arrives accidentally frozen. - Often, they include a few extra crabs, just in case one or two don't meet their own high standards. That thoughtfulness goes a long way. While these steamed beauties are mouthwatering anytime, the prime season is in September, after they've had the summer to fatten up in their shells. That's when they're absolutely bursting with flavor and texture. Having said that, I still can't resist ordering for Memorial Day to officially kick off the summer and in June to honor daughter's annual request for her birthday feast. This is more than a crab shipment--it's a tradition. From coast to coast, The Crab Place delivers a piece of Maryland's culinary soul with quality, care, and consistency. For any true crab lover, this is the gold standard.

Seems not fresh (for sure), hushpuppies seem bought at a store not homemade. There are just much better places to get seafood. For example, go to Shuckin Shack in Summerville for fresh seafood.

Three sailers were sitting in the Waters Edge Cafe having just finished a nice lunch of crab cake…read moresandwiches and talking about what else but where we should go for dinner, what else, right? Since it is early April, Crisfield is not quite in full swing so a lot of places are only open on the weekends. On our arrival via sailboat last night we saw a couple of places with water front decks so we we trying to figure out which places those were and whether they were open. One spot we identified was the Fishernan's Warf but our online searches indicated they were not open until Friday afternoon. The other place we identified was the Crab Pot Depot and according to the online information it was open. We left the cafe and walked down the street checking out a few shops and chatting with some friendly locals and the decided we would walk over and check out the Crap Pot Depot. When we arrived we saw that while the hours posted in the window indicated they we open, the sign and the locked door clearly indicated they were closed. While researching the place online, we could see that they had a few tables along the waterfront so we found our way along the side of the building and out to the back deck. When we got there we found the owner, Eric, busy cleaning the deck and tables. He said that he should be open but due to a few things he was not open and that he would be open tomorrow. I jokingly asked if he would be willing to serve three hungry sailors and to our surprise he said that it wouldn't be the first time he had done something like that. We chatted some more and next thing you know we had arranged for two dozen crabs and two pounds of shrimp to be prepared and ready to eat at 6:15. We hustled back to the boat and did some laundry while other crew caught a few winks. I slipped over to Big Willies and grabbed some Yingling Lagers and at 6 we headed over to the Crab Pot Depot. We settled into our private restaurant picnic table on the water and in no time at all Eric delivered crabs and shrimp to three hungry sailors. Maybe it was the setting, maybe it was the circumstances but the crabs and shrimp were absolutely outstanding. As an added bonus, Eric served us his own side dipping sauce of butter with garlic and spices that complimented both the crab meat and the shrimp to perfection. On top of the fact that the food was tremendous, and Eric was incredibly accommodating, he was also an outstanding host. One drawback was that there were a lot of biting gnats out this evening. We were doing our best to drown out their annoyance with crab, shrimp, and Yingling and we were doing a pretty good job of it but Eric could see they were bothersome. To aid in our comfort he went into his kitchen and brought out a large industrial fan and extension cords and set it up so it would blow down our table, eliminating 90% of the bug problems. If you are ever anywhere near Crisfield, do yourself a favor and look up Eric at the Crab Pot Depot. This is one guy who deserves all the business he can get! https://crabpotdepot.com/ Food ***** Location ****** Service *****

The crabs were great and reasonably priced. We received wooden mallets and rugged plastic knives - just like eating crabs at home! We made two trips to get our fill. Not a bad crab in the bunch. The business is family owned and operated and we could not have been more satisfied. Of course, carry out is available, seafood is seasoned to taste, and the cornbread is excellent. Thank you Eric and Shane for the enjoyable meals!

I took a pic of the "jumbo" scallop entree. The original Basket version is just 4 scallops and fries for $17, that was my original plan. Even though the scallops weren't local, I was encouraged to get the entree version which had 4 more scallops (so 8 total) and an Xtra side, which I chose Mac n' cheese (house made). But this entree version was $31. So for $14 more I got a scoop of Mac and 4 of these pitiful scallops. I'm sorry but that is egregious. That's highway robbery and there's NOTHING added in the entree variant that justifies that kind of price. The basket version, isn't justifiable at $17 given what's here. Not to mention that its not even plated and everything was in a to-go format. There were flies everywhere that kept crawling on me and I was just ready to leave the moment I recieved my food. Softshell crab and the rest of the food is good. But not THAT good. Two basket-type entrees ran us over $70.
