If you're thinking about coming here for crab cakes, don't bother -- and honestly, think twice about coming at all. My party was seated, ordered drinks and appetizers, and only when we started ordering entrées did our server, Faith, suddenly inform us there were no crab cakes due to a "crab shortage." At a seafood restaurant, that's something you tell customers immediately, not after they've already spent money. The story didn't add up. The day before, we had crab cakes at SALT Waterfront Kitchen with no issue. After leaving Ruddy Duck, we went straight back to SALT, ordered crab cakes again, and were told point‑blank that there was no shortage. So the excuse we were given at Ruddy Duck was misleading at best. The whole experience felt deceptive and disrespectful. We won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values honesty or basic customer service. read more

My family and I eat at the Roddy Duck Seafood Restaurant fairly regularly . The Ruddy Duck was great. We called in for a reservation earlier in the week, so had a table ready for us at the exact time we got there. The food was great, my wife got the crab cakes and I got the Baja fish tacos. The only negative was I ordered a beer, but it didn't get to the table until we were almost done eating; however, they didn't charge us for the beer, so that was good customer service there. Im here when I come down to wine country, for 2 things onion rings and pasta dish veggie. The place hasn't evolved much with menu. A couple weeks ago my son. Granddaughter and myself wanted to have an afternoon lunch. So we all voted to try the Ruddy Duck Restaurant. All three of us ordered Entrees in which my son had Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes and a veggie. My granddaughter had Steamed Shrimp with French Fries and I had their Fried Shrimp with French Fries and Cole Slaw. We were all amazed at the presentation of the food as well as the quality and taste. It is evident they have expert Chefs and Sous Chefs. I wanted to have dinner at a place with a view of the sunset and this did not disappoint. I arrived at a weird hour so the bar and restaurant were quite empty but that's okay because that means I had the chance to pick where I wanted to sit and there were many options from high tops to booths, tables and the bar - almost every table has a view of water!!! I ordered the special soup of the day to start off with and it was a great choice - the potato and leek soup warmed me up from head to toe. For my entree, I ordered the crab cake dinner and substituted masked potatoes and vegetables and it did not disappoint. I actually had to take one crab cake home to lunch the next day! Very beautiful venue situated on a spit of land between two bodies of water. Stunning views, and a spectacular sun set! Great signature cocktails. Fresh and fried seafood entrees. Menu is upscale sports bar. Lacks the pizza oven of the Solomons location so leans more towards sea food. Service is good. Prices a little high but the food is good. I had heard rave reviews and was looking forward to this. The ceiling was nicely decorated. And the view by the water was beautiful. This accounts for the 2 stars. Ordered the crab dip and the cheese was more curdled and crumbly similar to feta cheese. There were a lot of things they were out of on the menu. My water glass was dirty and when I had asked for a new glass, the waiter brought back the SAME glass. The dirt and specks of food on the outside of the glass were STILL there. That's just a little gross. Had the prime rib sandwich and it was over cooked and very crisp. The meat itself was very salty and had a lot of grisly fat. Wayyy too many flies inside the establishment where I couldn't do anything but swat them away. Ordered French fries and they were the BEST part of my meal. Drive to Lexington Park. This is a super cute spot on the water! The people are really sweet and it's a local vibe type of bar that brews their own beer. Their beer is really good. The view is just amazing. Outdoor seating is subject to direct sunlight, very limited shade spots, but with such a great view, why sit inside! Portion sizes are small for the price you're paying. The duck fat fries were great, but tasted just like my fries that came with my dinner, but the aioli that came with them was spectacular! It says it's an alehouse, but if I remember correctly, they may have had 8 beers on the menu, it's a stretch for an alehouse. What a wonderful surprise. While visiting family in the Lexington Park area we were introduced to this excellent seafood restaurant rite on the water. This is a place that the locals cherish. Traditional seafood platters, seafood bowls, salads, and even gluten free options are available as well as daily specials. There is a great selection of wines and as the name implies in house brewed craft beers. Water views of the surrounding rivers really set the mood for delicious seafood and top notch service. Ruddy duck is sooo good. Great to have a semi classy bar restaurant here in SOMD. Bartenders and wait staff are great and the food is always hot and fresh. It's not on the water but close enough. I love the selection of there own brews on tap. Cool how they have some duck items on the menu. Love the duckadilla. You can't go wrong with anything on the huge menu. Pizzas are even good. Excellent brew selection and unique, interesting cocktails. Duck fat fries are a must, Crabcakes are a no-brainer. One patty is not enough! Fish Tacos highly recommended as well. This restaurant is located on Solomons Island in Maryland. We have a place on the Potomac River, but it is on the other side. It is either a 2 Hour Dr., or a 20 minute boat ride to the Ruddy Duck. We opted for the boat! That worked out well, because they have a nice sized pier off the St. Mary's River which is on the other side of the island from the Potomac. It is not your typical dive river bar. It is definitely a step above that in terms of decor and menu choices. Lots of fresh seafood, and lots of craft beer that they brew at their other site in Maryland. We had the crab dip, the fish tacos, and the fish and chips. All were very good, and we probably could've got by with just the crab dip and one of the entrées and shared it. It is a little pricey as the tab came to about $58 for both of us with soft drinks and the a for mentioned food. I have been here a few times before and had many different items on the menu. I would definitely go for seafood, the crabcakes are very good, and so are their shrimp tacos. This is definitely a place I will return to, as long as the river is flat enough to get across! read more

Great food! Great view and excellent service! Prices are not as expensive as other water side restaurants and we had a marvelous experience. The special the waitress spouted off sounded amazing and I went with it without even considering anything else on the menu. I was glad. I love risotto and this was a great twist with vegetables added in with the rice and perfectly cooked butterfly shrimp laid on top. My counterparts enjoyed their meals as well. First, come for the endless views of the water! We had a safely spaced delicious brunch with raw oysters which are farmed just a few hundred yards from the restaurant, crab cakes and salad. The views and location of this place is Simply Amazing.. We had an early evening dinner here. I do believe timing is everything. We arrived around 5pm or so and was greeted and seated right away. Our server came right over and we told her we was part of the Ruddy Duck Adventure tour. They had a special menu for the tour group. We didn't have to pay anything additional unless we added alcohol beverages. My food was good. Even though the coleslaw was not good. It was also on the warm side. Glad I went with the shrimp Tacos. It was very tasty and fulfilling. The Calamari was good but l was a little disappointed that they didn't offer the Marinade sauce but only the one white sauce so l had to eat it plain. Ummm try more then one sauce option please for the fried Calamari. No complaints with my shrimp Taco it was delicious and l had leftovers for the following day and it still tasted great. Try the outdoor seating if the weather permits. Or indoor by the window. I took some breathtaking pictures. Staff was attentive. I would definitely return if in the area. read more

Love the Rudy Duck on St George's Island. I always say it's about as close to being able to drive up to being on a boat as you can get with it being on narrow strip of the island. Windows on both sides of bar & booths see water views surrounding you. Brian the bartender could not be more friendly & making you feel welcome & taking care of your needs. Now the bad news. No crabs. But I get it - crabs are just running too high in price for everyone. Good news. The chicken Tuscan sandwich is still my favorite. The Ahi Tuna bowl is so poplar it was sold out. The Baja fish tacos are substantial - I'd order that again. Always look forward to stop here. Worth a detour on your travels IMO. read more
