Similarly to Downtown Nail & Spa (same owners), I've given this salon many chances over the past year, but my experience has been mixed. I usually booked with David because he's very gentle, takes his time, and clearly knows what he's doing. Unfortunately, while the appointments were comfortable, my gel manicures consistently ended up with a very thin polish layer. My nails often felt thin and scratchy afterward, and the polish rarely lasted more than 10 days before chipping or lifting. I went back several times to have one or two nails fixed, but after multiple visits, I realized this seemed to be the technique being used rather than an isolated issue. I also tried booking with other technicians, but they always seemed to be unavailable. On several occasions, the person answering the phone (Lee) came across as rude and not very welcoming, which made scheduling appointments unpleasant. On the positive side, I had a few pedicures with some of the younger technicians, and they were excellent. They were gentle, thorough, and provided a great experience. One thing that has always made me uneasy is that I witnessed a few clients cry out in pain after their cuticles were accidentally cut during their appointments. Similar to my experience at their Downtown location, it makes me feel anxious every time I come in, even if it isn't happening to me. I wish there were a greater emphasis on gentleness and client comfort, because the salon has the potential to provide a much more relaxing experience. read more

I called ahead and made a 6:00 PM appointment for a regular (clear polish) manicure and gel pedicure. I arrived on time and was seated shortly afterward. Multiple technicians worked on my pedicure, and it seemed one of them was still in training. Despite the extra help, the service took about an hour. The nail techs were all very friendly and polite throughout the appointment. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the $90 price. My toenail cuticles are slightly cut, the gel polish is uneven, and I noticed pink polish had transferred onto my white shoes--likely from the technician's gloves when he handed me my belongings at the end. I got the basic pedicure and it felt extremely basic. Barely any massage and barely any callus removal. I guess I should try one of their higher level pedicures but I wasn't overly impressed which is a bummer since they are close to where I live. It was a last minute decisions to get my nails done before venturing out into the city and I found this place on yelp, how convenient that it was located next to my hotel. When I went in, no one was at the front to greet me or say hello. I stood there for a god 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging me. I was beginning to regret coming until finally someone came to say hi. I let them know I just wanted a manicure and was told to go wash my hands. They had a guy technician who sat in front of me and started working on my hands. The customer next to me started to engage in conversation with me and it turned my whole experience around. Many of the employees spoke English but Mai no Lu in their own language amongst each other. I find that it's typical and didn't bother me much. The guy who did my nails was too serious and didn't talk much. Oh, my nails look good and I payed $24 plus tip. On the surface everyone is nice and look like the two customers I was chatting with are regulars so that should speak to how much their customers love their work. Gel manicure lasted less than a week before it started chipping/peeling, was rough and thinly/unevenly applied when it finally cured. Most of my nails are now damaged as the gel is taking itself off (it's bubblng in the MIDDLE of the nail first!!). called to give them the opportunity to fix it, they never called me back. I had a spa or deluxe or whatever they call it mani/pedi here a few weeks ago and my nails lasted a long time. I love that you can make an appointment online so that's the first great thing. They were ready for me and had a large selection of Essie nail colors to choose from. The pedicure was very relaxing and towards the end another technician started on my nails. I appreciated that I could enjoy the beginning of my pedicure while reading my book but also appreciated that they efficiently started my nails and that I could stay in the comfy chair. All in all it was a good experience. I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but where I'm from in Florida it's hard to find a place that won't cut you or nick your skin at some point (so much so that I've just given up on getting my nails done there) but this experience was pain free as it should be. read more

The location is really convenient for me from my office, and they were able to fit me in same day. I had dip on my nails that had well past its prime and I wanted to do dip again. I'm so disappointed in this place, and I really wanted to like it because of its location to my work but I'm shocked at the price jump between what their advertised pricing on the wall was and what I ended up getting charged (see photos). When I asked why I was being charged $75 for the basic fill I was told they charge an additional $30 FOR SHAPING. Never in my life have I heard of such a ridiculous add on! He said that they have to charge for the extra shaping almond nails take... MIND YOU, my nails were almond to begin with. I've been getting almond for YEARS at various different places throughout San Diego, LA, and Arizona and I've never been charged for shaping. Makes me sad because I really wanted this place to be my home base for nails. It really is a pitty because she did a good job! They lost out on a very loyal and repeat customer for such a crazy stupid add on fee. read more

Last night was my second time going to Bayside. They have done a wonderful job! I had an appointment at 6:15 and I was running late because of traffic and they still let me come in even though they were closing at 7 PM when I was late... They also stayed about 30 minutes past closing for me, extremely accommodating, and did a wonderful job! Came in for a basic manicure and there was no wait time. I wish I never went. I try not complain because I know I'm very particular when it comes to nails but my goodness. Bled for a solid two minute from three fingers because the nail tech was trying to rush or maybe just wasn't trained. Very messy job especially around the cuticles. Khoi is my guy! He does an amazing job on my nails every time! I text them a picture of what I want before my appt and he makes my dreams a reality every time. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the rest of the staff is not as good. The most recent time I visited, the lady who did my manicure gave me three different price quotes, each one higher than the last. The gentleman who did my shellac pedicure cut me several times, had to reapply the gel 3 different time due to mistakes, and left polish all over my toes. I now know I'll need to specifically ask for Khoi every time I go. Not sure about parking, as I walk there. I *THINK* they validate parking, but don't quote me. read more

I am not really sure how this place passes the health standard.... The water that goes from the foot tub in open right behind you so you can see it and it smells. Unfortunate since i did like this place but don't like the open water that smells dirty water if you know what i mean. They also will not do pedicure and manicure at the same time unless your upgrade your service (even though staff is available in the back sitting in their phones) in my mind, if they have availability they should do whatever makes the customer happy. read more

Had an appointment for a week, waiting 50 MINUTES after asking multiple times for an update. At 53 minutes they put cotton on my nails to remove the polish, waited another 15 minutes, and then told them I am leaving. They then tried to charge me $35!!!! I live across the street and this is my go to salon for gel nails and pedicures. They always fit me in and I rarely make an appointment. They have plenty of staff and are usually very busy. They all work well together and the place is organized and clean. They have you wash your hands first thing and they offer you water , wine, or champagne when you sit down. My gel manicures are well done and last quite a while without peeling off. My pedicures I love. I get the combo deluxe mani and pedi and I love the quality of service. Would recommend them to anyone. I have been going to this spot for years now but unfortunately their service has gone down hill. The last few times I have gone in for my appointment, my appointment wasn't honored . When I went in a few weeks ago I waited 50 minutes for my appointment. I never received a text message that my appointment needed to be pushed back . There was another lady that took my appointment. I totally understand things happen like call outs and over booking. Out of respect for your clients please let people know that appointments will be changed that way we can get other things done . It wasn't until the end of my appointment when my nail technician told me there were two call outs that day . At that point I was already upset . I think they started the other ladies appointment first since she was going to be paying more . My nail technician did tell me he would be a little bit . I was under the impression it would be ten minutes not 50. I also noticed my nails got damaged coming here . Short Version: My appointment wasn't honored cause I didn't respond to their confirmation text. When I questioned it a man raised his voice at me and wouldn't let me speak till I walked out. Long Version: I've come without an appointment and was told it's a 40-minute wait.... lesson learned. I found out I was free Monday morning so I called Sunday at 4:30 pm and got a Monday 9:30 am appointment. Got a text message at 5:15 Sunday saying "This is a reminder for your 9:30 appointment could you confirm?" I just got off the phone with them less than an hour ago so I thought the message was redundant, & didn't respond. Arrived for my appointment and a woman told me it was a 30-minute wait cause I didn't confirm I was coming. I began to question her and a man working on a person started walking towards me raising his voice repeating that I didn't confirm and proceeded to grab his phone and tried to show me his text thread while still repeating and carrying on. I asked him not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES "May I speak?" He just kept ranting so I turned around and left. Revolting customer service and lacking simple human decency by not having a calm productive conversation. I will never go back to a place with such a degrading man around. They don't respect anyone's time. Management needs to step up their time schedule and respect their returning customer's appointments. Not all of us are tourists walking in from the hotel with nothing else to do with our day. They were an hour behind my original appointment, which made me have to rush my manicure and i still had to end up paying full price for half the service. I was charged for a luxury gel manicure and pedicure when i had no spa service, massage or time of anything luxury, because they were rushing. But, I didn't have time to go back and forth with the cashier because I had to get out of there to make my meeting I was already late to.
