worst experience of my dogs life. She was never so happy to leave a place - she ran for the door as soon as I was given her leash. I provided 2 extra days of Farmers Dog food which disappeared. I provided Oinkies Bacon Wrapped Treats for her which she has been enjoying for the past 5+ years - someone took the bacon strips off the treats. But they forgot to take the crumbles out of the bottom of the packaging. Terrible experience - I wouldn't recommend them even as a last resort (so to speak) read more

Second time boarding my 16-year old boy. Asked for grooming, asked for shaved versus cut, to cut down on grooming time for my senior guy. Stunned when I picked him up. He was shaking and crying, I was crying. They said they had to stop halfway through, because he could not tolerate continuing. I would have to stop if someone was scalping me, too. I had to request to see a manager, Jackie, who acted like no big deal, if I want, I could come back sometime when a more experienced groomer was working. Edited to reply to Bayside's comment: My dog NEVER injured another dog. To imply that is a lie. Also, implying that my dog was not actually injured at Bayside pet resort: they reviewed their footage and saw that not only was my dog injured, but they even identified the dog that injured my dog. So yes, it DID happen there. Additionally, our dog was a client at Bayside Pet Resort for less than 1 year total, just to clarify what they must consider to be "an extended period." After reading all of Baysides promises on their website, I believed our dog would be getting great care, at Bayside Pet Resort. But unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. I scheduled our dog to attend Bayside's Daycare while he was boarding, so he could have exercise & playtime. Although he weighed only 40 pounds, Bayside put him in with the large dogs who towered over him, and one of the large dogs bit my dog so badly that my dog had puncture wounds on his neck when we picked him up from boarding (photo attached). Fast forward to my dog's most recent stay at Bayside Pet Resort. Our dog was scheduled to board for 5 nights, plus I added on 2 "All About Me" (1-on-1) playtimes PER DAY, during his stay. We dropped off our dog around 9:45 AM, and every time I looked on the camera, our dog was pacing around inside his kennel, bored out of his mind. Several hours went by, of me watching my poor "high energy" (their words) dog pacing around in his kennel, when finally at 2:00, I contacted Bayside and asked them to take my dog out to play (which they were supposed to do 2 times a day, but they hadn't done at all yet). At that time, they then took him out to play. At this point, I realized Bayside must think people don't log on to check on their pet to make sure they are receiving the promised and paid-for services and attention they're supposed to be getting, so I contacted Bayside and told them I would like to see the "checklist of times showing my dog's playtimes and potty times each day." I truly didn't think this was a big ask, especially since Bayside's own website advertises providing a "Report Card detailing the pet's playtime and potty habits" at pick-up. When I picked up my dog 5 days later, "Brandi" handed me a printout showing my dog's potty times and play times, and she told me,"This is the LAST time we will provide this for you. I assure you your dog received the attention he deserved." I told her I was not trying to be difficult; I simply wanted to make sure my dog received the extra time I paid for because it didn't look like he was receiving it when I saw him pacing in his kennel every time I logged onto the camera. THEN, I looked at the log sheet she gave me and I saw that IN FACT, my dog did NOT receive the 2 playtimes per day that I requested and was charged for (log sheet and receipt attached). There were only 4 playtimes total during my dog's 5 nights of boarding. I told Bayside that their log sheet only confirmed what I was afraid of--that my dog was confined to his kennel and not getting the exercise I had requested and paid for. The receptionist then took the log sheet to the back and then came back up front several minutes later, with 3 more hand-written times on the log sheet. I was charged for 9. I said, "I hope you understand now why I requested the log sheet. I had a bad feeling, when I kept logging onto the camera and seeing my dog pacing around in his kennel each time." The receptionist said she understood, and she said she would apply a $24 credit to my Bayside Lodging account, for my next stay (for the 'unaccounted' for playtimes I was charged for). I said that was fine, and then I confirmed my next Boarding reservation, which was for 1 week later, when we were going out of the country. Two days after picking up my dog and having the encounter with Brandi about the log sheet, I received an email from her saying I am no longer welcome to board our dog there, "effective immediately." Note: I've had a reservation for 3 months, to board our dog there in only FIVE DAYS. And, just like that, Bayside cancelled our reservation, simply because I caught them not caring for my dog the way they were supposed to care for him, and charging me for services they did not provide. It all worked out fine in the end, because I have found a much better place to board our dog, and he will get the attention he deserves. But I wanted to write this detailed review so anyone boarding their dog knows they need to keep a close eye on their dog... because Bayside makes promises they do not keep. read more

Our pup has stayed here twice now, and both times she has come back happy and healthy! Super convenient location on 41, close to the airport. The staff here have been very friendly both times we've visited; they're obviously huge animal lovers, which is essential when dealing with animals out of their normal routines. They're very understanding and patient. They also do a great job keeping track of our dog's behaviour during her stay. At the end of her time there, they provide a doggy report card with everything the staff has observed, so you know exactly how they did -- bathroom habits, behaviour, socialization, and sleeping. read more

Resort filled with front desk incompetence, miscommunication, and hidden fees. I boarded my dog here for a week and it was an absolute disappointment. Cons: - Rude front staff workers. I was not greeted when I entered but was instead met by a lady with a scowl. When I said I had a reservation, she rolled her eyes at me. - Difficult temperament assessment. All dogs need an assessment before being allowed to play with other dogs. When I asked when my dog can do the assessment, I was told "theres no availability or staff". So basically my dog was kept in a room all week without socialization. No idea how an "award-winning" resort do not have time or staff to do an assessment for any entire week. My dog ended up getting stress colitis with bloody diarrhea because he was essentially kept in quarantine all week. - Socialization is an extra charge. Even if your dog passes the temperament assessment, it is an additional charge to your boarding fee to have your dog play with others. - Poor communication. I asked my dog to be bathed prior to pick up. The front staff told me it will happen. When I went to pick up my dog, surprise! No bath was done. Pros - as poorly run as this resort is, the dog handlers are very friendly (but they will charge you for interacting with your dog!). They were attentive and were apologetic for the numerous shortfalls of management and the front desk Overall, I would not bring my dog back here. If you do, make sure you schedule a behavior assessment before your actual reservation and be ready for pay an extra fee for socialization. Also, don't expected to be greeted or acknowledged when you come in. The front desk has such bad attitudes and treat you like you owe them money. read more

Everytime I check on my dog she is in a small room with a bunch of other dogs while the only worker in the room keeps mopping the floor and never engages with the pups. They follow her around in a pack while she ignores them and they don't even play with each other. I guess if you HAVE to go away this isnt so bad. A good place for doggy care and boarding. DEFINITELY not a place for GROOMING! I had dropped off my little Yorkie for boarding for a few days. Figured I'd try out the grooming service. I was very specific about how to cut the private areas and his little tail. Upon arriving to pick him ...the cut and instructions were NOT followed! Asked if it was possible to have her redo the cut. They are a disaster. They separated are two small dogs, one 5 months old and 1 1/2 yrs old. They 5 lbs and 9lbs. We specifically made reservations for the dogs to be together. Then they charged us for 2 kennels. The communication with them while trying get reservations correct should have been our warning. The puppy had never been alone before and this is the first time we have boarded our dogs. They also gave the dogs all their calming treats even though there were detailed instructions on how to give. I guess we should have only given enough for 2 days. When we could see the video we only saw one dog and it was too late to call the facility to find out why we could only see one dog. We worried all night and went first thing this morning to pick them up and deal with more confusion. My husband told them the manager should call this evening when I'm off work to explain this mess. He was told she comes in at 10 and she leaves before 5:30. I guess. They don't care about upset customers. read more

Just picked up our little guy from a fun filled full day of day care and overnight stay. The staff continue to be amazing. Ricky howls as soon as we pull into the driveway. The entire staff from the moment we arrive are welcoming, professional and have clearly made it feel like Ricky's home away from home and extended family. This place sounded like a good idea at first but really they're way over their heads. They try not to answer the phones as much as possible. I'm still waiting to receive a callback from a manager from always a week ago. Our flight was cancelled on the way back and it was nearly impossible to speak to someone while being on the other side of the country. The receptionists are pretty hit or miss, one of them was very skilled but the rest had no idea what was going on and provided terrible customer service. My dog came back with a huge scratch on his face and a huge rash on his back. None of these things were communicated to us, even though they were boarded fora week. The bag gave them for my pup's food was also returned torn to pieces. There is no communication on their side, not even a heads up. My dog has anxiety. She goes to another pet resort and runs right in. She didn't pass at Bayside because they threw her in the kennel and different people kept trying to get her to come out. I realize her being reactive would be cautious but they have trainers on hand. My dog was left in a room for 4 days. They then charged me $72 for a nature walk that she couldn't even do. Took our 9 month pup for the first time to get a temperament eval and daycare. The facilities are well kept and clean. The cameras to check-in are a nice addition. We left her there for a full day of play. When we picked her up, I was handed her and a piece of paper from one of the dog handlers. Nothing was said other than here's a report. I thought it was a report card of how she did. Once we got in the car, we saw cuts...some deep...all over her body. The "report" said another dog had "scratched" her but there was no fight. We were never called and there was no explanation at pickup. Now I understand why we have to sign a waiver to absolve them of any blame for injuries. If my dog gets injured on the very FIRST day of being there, I can't imagine what would happen every day. If they are accepting dogs that are aggressive and/or letting them be with the general population then what is their temperament check for? Having one handler for 15 or more dogs seems like a recipe for disaster. We cancelled our next day booking needless to say. I would recommend NOT taking your pet there. read more

They killed my dog. He came out totally dehydrated, throwing up and unable to hold up his head or walk. I took him immediately to the Emergency vet and he died. He went in in good health on no meds and just had a complete checkup. He was there for three days and I paid for a room with cameras , a tv and outside door , two walks a day and "me time ". I called every day to check on him and was told he was great and when I asked what happened to him on the way out when he could not hold up his head - they handed me a sheet that said he did great . He collapsed outside the door. After he died I called to discuss what went wrong - they would not even acknowledge what shape he was in when picked up. As far as I am concerned they are dog killers. I took my dog here for daycare and decided to trust them for boarding for the 4th of July weekend and she spent pretty much the entire weekend locked in her kennel. She looked stressed and had peed on the floor at one point, likely because they didn't let her out much because she can hold it a long time. They don't return phone calls or answer when you call. This is a clean and very well run pet boarding "resort" for dogs and cats near the SRQ airport that's been open for about a year. There's plenty of animal loving staff that makes you feel you've left your pet in the best possible hands. They do offer "suites" of many sizes all with shower door type glass fronts to eliminate the dog prison look. Rates are competitive for basic services which include everything your pet needs; exercise time, feeding (bring your own food - or they will supply) on the schedule you prefer, and snacks. As stated on their website included services are; accommodations with maid service, soothing music, comfortable beds and clean, climate-controlled surroundings. Along with sanitized dishes, freshly laundered bedding and safe, clean elimination yards. They do offer a dizzying array of additional services which of course will affect your final cost. Many of the supplementary "amenities" that we passed on are TV in the suite, closed circuit TV for you to watch your pet via the internet, orthopedic beds, and various activity packages. During a facilities tour they explained all the available services but no hard sell when we made a reservation. When we returned Bogey was damn happy to see us and was clean and healthy! It's hard to leave mans best friend behind, but we felt good about Bayside and will gladly use them again. read more

My 6 month old puppy went 8 times for 1/2 day daycare and at 30 lbs was largest dog in the small dog group. After last visit he came home and curled up for 2 days and yelped anytime anyone approached him to pet him. Obviously someone at Bayside did something to reprimand him and he was traumatized by whatever this action was. After 2 days of soft words and patience and eventually holding him, he revived and was the happy, social, loving pup he was before that last visit. Will never go back there again. read more

I love all the employees at Bayside and I know they care about my dog. Fritz is now 8 months old. For the last 6 months he's done day lodging, daycare, overnights, grooming, professional photos, puppy training classes, and he had his 6 month birthday party with them. I thought the service was great, people were cordial and responsive when I called about my dog. The facilities were clean and my dog came out happy and tired. My concern however is that my dog came home infested in fleas! He was checked beforehand to confirm he didn't bring them in and I would have expected them to do the same with the other dogs. In just 10 minutes of combing him after the bath, I've pulled at least 15 fleas and he won't stop itching. And unfortunately I don't live nearby so I can't take him back for a bath. read more

I have been using them since I moved to Florida in September. I have a pit mix puppy who is hyper and I needed a place for her while I was at work. It worked out perfect, she LOVES daycare and can recognize when we pull into the parking lot and can't contain her excitement. A few months later my sister moved to Florida with her non dog friendly German mix. After about 6 weeks of day lodging and getting used to the staff and seeing other dogs she was FINALLY able to go into full daycare. Everyone there was so excited for her, they all seemed invested in her getting better with other dogs. I take both dogs 3 times a week, all of the staff remembers my name (and my dogs') and are very friendly. It is always clean and smells great. They are a few dollars more expensive than some of the competitors, but the staff and cleanliness make it worth the extra $2-3 difference. read more

So sad to see and experience such a huge decline to pet care and customer service. Have been a client for over 2 years. Never again. My small dog was boarded over Thanksgiving weekend with a pick up date for Sunday. I opted in for her to be bathed on Sunday prior to pick up. No one called me to let know she was ready for pick up. I called mid afternoon and was told she was ready. I pay. Receive the dog bed and food (no boarding paperwork telling me how she did) . She had feces on her backend. I asked for it to be cleaned since she just had a bath. I was told they didn't have time. Too many dogs to take care of. I was told a manager would call me on Monday. Then she changed that timeline to next week because the manager had reports to do on Monday. ( they really take customer service seriously) Well the reason my small white dog had feces on her backend is because she had Diarrhea. No one ever said my dog was sick. No one ever reached out to me in any form as I was told they would. Well my dog died on that Thursday. I can't say they caused it. But I can say they didn't pay attention or follow up. That lack of customer service goes all the way up the food chain to whoever hires and trains this staff. Ps. Answer the phone!!!! read more

I have used Bayside at Sarasota twice and will not be returning. I wanted to like it as the facility is very nice. Both times I left messages asking for a call back which I did not get. The staff do not appear at all interested in the animals. Our dog was not allowed in daycare because he growled at another dog. I opted for nature walks which he may or may not have received. There was no feedback about anything. No sheet to say if he ate, enjoyed his walk, anything. I requested a bath before pickup which didn't happen. The explanation was they didn't know the pickup time (which I gave). It was only a half hour before I would have gone into another day's charge so it should have been obvious when bath needed to be completed. Our dog came home with diarrhea and cried all evening. Doing slightly better now. Did not come away with a good feeling about this place. read more

They do not tell you what to expect nor the fee for first 4 hour trial. When I couldn't see my dog on camera, I called the Sarasota office. No one picks up the phone after multiple calls but the front desk is staffed. I was starting to worry as there was no receipt given that they took my dog. When I gave feedback after pickup, the response was how my dog would be welcomed back. If my issues are not addressed, why would I bring my dog back? I wouldn't do it even if it was free! read more

My dog is very active and loves to swim so we started coming here when we found out about the pool, and it is wonderful! The facility is clean and very nice. My only suggestion is that they have a more welcoming and friendly front office staff. No contest - this is the BEST resort to trust my precious diva dog. I love the attention, the clean inviting environment and the staff. The staff seems to really like working here for the team is the same and recognize our dog. Always fully staffed, and easy to get a suite with clear glass for our dog. Play time is reasonably priced allowing us to spoil our diva while we are on vacation. The best part - our dog loves coming here, moving into the door without hesitation. Private area with turf for outside play, means our dog comes home clean. Bathing is an option you can add, if you like. read more
