Ryan made an exception to his rule of not taking reservations over the phone and accommodated our large family and we're so glad he did! Traveling from out of town we were surprised our breakfast options seemed limited so we were relieved to find this restaurant and be treated as well as we were. The food was just so so. Had the Cali Rueben. Lots of brown pieces in the cabbage. Soggy pickle. The potato, bacon & leek soup was not good. But the tomato basil soup was tasty. The service was good. Some of our favorites are the French Dip/Philly sandwich, Parm crusted grilled cheese, club sandwich and French toast. We always look forward to eating at Bayside. read more

My husband & I were on vacation and when looking for a breakfast place, we found Bayside. We had prime rib hash & bay harbor breakfast & coffee. Everything was excellent. We asked the server which coffee it was, so she gave us the name of coffee company so we could order it online (not Starbucks). The bacon was cooked perfectly; no chewy parts. The bathrooms are clean, smelled nice, and pretty. Our server provided great service & was very nice, in fact, everyone was super nice. Would recommend. read more

I paid $17 for a mediocre chicken wrap withr over seasoned French fries. There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant and I couldn't even get my drink refilled. The best restaurants in town don't even charge those prices and are levels above...top that with the poor service and is a joke. You are better off going to subway!!! read more

Great Breakfast spot...made to order omelette was delicious as well as the veggie frittata. Shared a lumberjack pancake for something sweet, that was very good too. Our server Sydney very pleasant & attentive always keeping our coffee cups full. This was our first visit we will definitely be back to try other options. The lunch options look good as well. Disappointing. We were happy to have a low key option in a resort area of town but the food was just ok. Corned beef hash was flavorful but corned beef was not well trimmed and fatty. At $10.98 it did not include toast and I was charged an additional.79 for one slice of barely toasted bread...which waiter forgot to order and came out halfway through breakfast. Friend has pulled pork that stayed with her all day. Waiter also forgot to order her fries and those also came out halfway through meal. All in all we dropped $35 on two less than great meals. read more

Giving this resturant a 1 is over rating it. This place is a total 0. Showed up to the restaurant with a party of 9. The hostess put our name on the list, 2nd one from the top. Sat the people above us, sat the people below us. The second group below us, a party of 9, got seated, we talked to the hostess, she said we have you on the list. Waited a little longer and the hostess sat a party of 10. I went in and asked her why we were not seated, and asked for the manager. While she was getting the manager I looked at the list and sure enough we were not scratched off and all those parties were sat down before us. Recommend not going here if you have a big party. They have trouble keeping track of the order on the list. read more

Only gave this restaurant a three star because there's always room for improvement I would suggest bringing your wallet and spending a little bit more of the markup at this place. Food was really good though and the ambience was really nice and clean. I couldn't decide between the corn beef hash and the traditional eggs Benedict so told Erica to surprise me...she blended the two by giving me the hash with two poached eggs and hollandaise...so creative and pure heaven! Rudest hostess ive ever experienced. Was seating other people ahead of us and when we asked what was going on she simply glared at us and rolled her eyes and said absolutely nothing. They told us it was a 35 minute wait and 40 minutes later we went in to ask how much longer and they said 35 more minutes and didnt even apologize. read more

This place is so good and the waitresses are adorable and beyond sweet (the owner should be very proud of these young ladies). Big portions and great food. Their waffles are awesome. I was excited to try the new breakfast restaurant in town just to be disappointed. I ordered biscuits and gravy, my husband the breakfast burrito. Other tables were seated after us, yet most of them got their food first. When the food was ready to be delivered, our waitress delivered our plates to a table that was getting ready to leave. Then brought them to us. She never asked how we were doing or if we needed anything else. Typically breakfast burritos come with salsa, not so with this place. We requested salsa, three times, along with our bill and we had to ask a fourth time for our bill. My biscuits were delicious, but the gravy was disgusting. They use maple sausage and it ruins a savory dish. I will not return or recommend to family, friends or perfect strangers. The Bistro still has the best breakfast in Petoskey, Brutus Camp is the best in Northern Michigan. read more
