I was out in MA for business for a few weeks and happened to know of Joe Bastek through other friends and the community. I was super stoked to see that he was tattooing locally right where I was working. I sent Joe and message on IG and told him I was interested in getting my leg sleeve filled in with lots of color and small tattoos. He was super kind, responded and told me to swing by the shop for a consult and some photos of the leg that evening. I was stoked to have him take a second out of his day to meet with me. Consult went great and he was cool as heck which was awesome. My schedule is super hectic and I travel a lot and I'm not a resident so I was worried he would be upset - total opposite. Dude pulled out a planner and started throwing all sorts of times and days out there "Wednesday at 640pm? Saturday at 10am? What works?" I laughed because that's how my schedule literally works we ended up getting a few sessions in and knocked out the rest of my leg! I followed Mariah to here from her old tattoo shop and I am so happy she switched over to Broad Street Tattoo Parlor. The location of the shop in downtown Bridgewater is very convenient and parking is plentiful although the shop does not have a private lot. The shop is clean and beautifully decorated and their merch is really nice looking. Another great benefit to this shop is that artists have their own private booths to work in so there's some degree of privacy while you're getting work done. As nice as the shop is, the artists are what make Broad Street Tattoo Parlor phenomenal. Mariah does beautiful tattoos in a variety of styles. I've been getting color, neo-traditional from her but her portfolio includes all kinds of styles so I'd suggest hitting her up in particular if you're looking to get work done. Colby, one of the shop owners also does really great work, particularly on realistic looking tattoos. Check out the shop Instagram for some work from them and other artists. I haven't been into a ton of parlors/studios but broad st. is by far the cleanest and most professional one i've encountered. I got my first and only tattoo here after Larry did my roommates back piece. I had gone with her and was totally impressed with the artwork hanging in his room in the studio as well as his warm and personable attitude. Let me say first, this place is unlike any tattoo parlor I've ever been to. It is beautiful inside, nicely decorated and super clean. Today I got my first Tattoo by Russ at Broadstreet Tattoo ! He was so fabulous. I am sure he knew that I was nervous. I brought my daughter (22 years old) who bought me the Tattoo for my Birthday. I thought WHAT THE HECK, I'm 50, I can do whatever I want now!! So I started small (1 1/2 inch to 2 inches square) on the back of my leg/ankle. Russ explained EVERYTHING to me as he went. When finished he was excellent at giving me the directions on how to take care of it while it heals. He's a really nice guy and fabulous artist too. I got EXACTLY what I wanted and it's perfect. It's clean there, their staff is really great. I had heard through the grapevine that they were good but I'd say EXCELLENT. Way to go Russ ! Broad Street Tattoo came highly recommended to me by a friend. I got my first tattoo here in December of 2010 and was nervous walking in, but I was immediately made to feel comfortable by the staff. They understood how nervous I was and also took an idea I had drawn up and made it ten times better. I was getting a script done on my foot and couldn't choose between two fonts. The artist kind of blended the two into one and it came out perfect! When it came time to actually do my tattoo, he talked me through each step of the process before & during, and the conversation made for a good distraction. This seems to be an anomaly of an experience, but I wanted to do a simple walk-in piece and hadn't thought anything much of it. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted, but I wasn't picky and I was absolutely willing to pay. I felt I was getting an unenthusiastic third-degree the entire time, people were talking to me about how they didn't want to just "make up" some lines when I said I liked geometric pieces and would love to pull up a reference and to build on another tattoo I already had and a lot of blank or annoyed looking staring that I wasn't sure how to parse, so I stood there uncomfortably instead. In the end I went with something that apparently the tattoo artist was more comfortable with tattooing, despite it still having absolutely no meaning to me ( It turned out great, I am not at all unhappy with the quality of the work. ) I didn't mind that they were unwilling, only that instead of saying an outright "that's not really my thing," or "I'm not interested," or even coming up with some bs excuse like they didn't have time, I was getting the third degree. They seemed to be experiencing some sort of moral dilemma- they didn't want to do my idea for a tattoo, but they didn't want to tell me 'no'. In the end I was being met with an abrupt, distasteful personality in the middle. Later, while I was getting tattooed, they kept talking about how they bought a burger a while before and that they couldn't wait to go home and eat with their wife since they didn't get to have it- I would have accepted a "we don't have the time to fit you in," but instead they said, "someone else was supposed to do this." People were in and out the entire time talking about burgers my artist couldn't have, there was a comment about the clerical girl that sort of rubbed me wrong. Prostitutes oddly enough came up, though that didn't really bother me. I could tell that maybe my artist wasn't having the best day- we didn't part on the worst of terms. We talked a bit about where we came from etc. and he finished up, I paid and tipped and he thanked me with what felt like genuine enthusiasm for the first time in the night. Overall, I just went to have some good experience for the day. I've been mentally exhausted, and tattoos and piercings make me feel happy and good about myself, and I just had an entirely alienating, uncomfortable experience that had my gut twisting a bit at the end of it. I honestly can't place the experience but I don't think I'll be going back. read more

As a college student at Bridgewater University, this place was very convenient. It was a short walk down the road and the prices there are pretty good. I got a medium-sized tattoo and a smaller one for $100 total. The staff is very nice and the artists are talented for the most part. The only negative part I'd have to say is that their filling-in and their line work can sometimes be sloppy. I don't know if it's because I'm young that my tattoos turned out this way, but if you're looking for something perfectionistic (which luckily I wasn't), this may not be the place for you. I'm really particular, and she nailed the look I was going for with the floral piece she is in the process of working on. Although it was a long wait to have her do the work, it was well worth it! Artist dont return calls, never at the store when you stop by, go back and forth via email, "book" a date after 1 month, try to make you book with another artist, and after you settle for a date, decides to travel and needs to reschedule. Never had a so bad costumer service with a tattoo shop. If the shop and the artist doesnt want new clients, they should advertise, so I wouldnt spend my time going back and forth like an idiot. Im paying, Im the client and all I want is to be treated as one. NEVER going back to the shop, NEVER referring nobody to the shop. My review is right on . Very unprofessional. I drove miles to this shop only to be told by a counter person that only one person could do this tattoo for me at this shop . The person's name was Miss Colby. He gave me her name , number and e-mail address and told me to contact her directly. I called the Tel. # and e-mailed her numerous times with no reply back at all. It took 3 day's for her to get back to me only to tell me that she couldn't do it. This is the owner that does not even return people's calls. This is no way to treat any customer, never mind a new customer. Like I said in my 1 st. review, Do your self a favor and find another parlor some where else. These people do not care about their customers. I am not saying they do a bad job, I am saying they are not customer friendly.
