Impossible billing system, once procedures are quoted and appointments completed there is always another bill that appears in the mail for services not covered by insurance. if I could give negative stars, I would. The reception is Shelly is extremely rude. She hung up on me while I was talking to her. Apparently the office if you have moved appointments prior ( I changed three appointments over three years, never no showed and always showed up) that you must get dropped from the practice.. I tested positive for Covid today and called at 8 AM to reschedule. Apparently, if I did that I would be dropped from the practice. I had proof of a positive test, and they said it was OK to still come in. That the hygienist will be masked up for the service anyways. Didn't Covid kill a bunch of people? how insane. read more

As someone else stated....i don't really do reviews and ratings...but the place is off the mark everywhere. I'm coming up on two years to get my dentures that snap in. I've . gone in for a look at my teeth and maybe a slight adjustment and waited two hours. Not a single word of recognition except that i did have an appointment at2. No thanks for being patient no explanation why except the doc stiill with someone. When seen I was in and out in 10 min. This happened again and I couldn't believe it. This time they were fresh and abrupt. This time they wanted to take an exray Machine is in lobby next to waiting area. I was asked to strip waist up. I asked where's the exray room and that hallway was it! Open for others to see. I said really ? Are you serious right out herein the open. I left my clothing on and was told it's not their fault if the exray is not clear . Boils down with a dozen other thins that they are inconsiderate and don't communicate. Now they are saying they have to approve the snap in part of the dentures. I'm shocked..they said that before and it was approved so they put studs in mt jaws to hold the teeth in but it took time for swelling but come on half a year..? They started think they should finish and now I'm hearing I could pay for it to be finished. I know the feeling when underhanded is the way of someone....this place is it. read more

I have been here 2 times. I have asked on both cases that a prescription for my anxiey be sent over, I was assured it would. I called at 4pm when i realized that there was no script for me and never got a call back mind you they close at 5. I had to find a way to contact the emergency aftercare dioctor and did not get s script till 5 phone calls later and it was at 10pm at night. I now have an appointment for tomorrow again i was told that a script would be sent over and i am now on hold again for 15 mins waiting to talk to someone .. i was also supposed to get a script the day i left on my last appointment and nothing was ever sent. Im not sure if its the people at the front desk just not caring enoupgh to send a script over when i imagine it takes a click of a button. Efficient, not much waiting and professional. Dental hygienist took care of my gums with laser cleaning. A rare skill for a hygienist to have. She said if I took care of my teeth and gums it would not be necessary to do again. I go for my cleanings regularly like I haven't before. They schedule and call you even after texting t confirm. I normally don't write reviews but my experience was so bad felt compelled to warn others: Had a scheduled, regular dental cleaning and when I showed up the hygienist (her name was Michelle Pinto) said she wouldn't perform my cleaning if I didn't undergo X-rays. Since I was needing to get to my job by 9 am (the appt was at 8 am), I really didn't have time to undergo anything extra and said I would call and make a separate appointment for the xrays. She then *literally* ordered me: "You can do it tomorrow at 8.30" (wouldn't work in my schedule, again I politely said I would call and find an appointment that worked within my schedule) and her reply was "I am not doing your cleaning if you do not do Xrays today." She was talking to me the whole time in this incredibly rude, nasty tone. I was completely taken aback. I decided at that point to leave as I didn't want this unhinged woman with sharp tools anywhere near my mouth. Tried to call today to report my experience: of course, "supervisor wasn't in" I already have a HUGE amount of anxiety going to the dentist, and this woman was hugely disrespectful and treated me with a complete lack of dignity. So use caution, and don't let any medical professional coerce you into any procedures you do not consent to (it is literally illegal). It is sad that this horrible white woman is being allowed to provide any kind of care in a place providing care to lots of POC / intersectionally diverse people. There are other much better dental places to go where you can be treated with dignity, respect and care. read more

My son is in the process of getting full dentures at Bay State Main Street Springfield. Probably not the best place to get full dentures but unfortunately he has Mass health and this seems to be the only Bay State dental where they take Mass health patients and unfortunately they do not get the same care as paying customers. But as the tax payer who contributes to Medicaid, I hate to see my tax dollars wasted. Last week he had the try in period and if I had not come in with him they were going to have the permanent dentures made even though they were falling out of his mouth and did not fit properly. When we questioned how they fit, they decided to fit them and align properly. I asked if he will have another opportunity for a try them before the permanent ones are made and the technician said no the doctor said she is going ahead and having the permanent dentures made with out another try in. The dentist is very busy and does not have the time to spend with people. I hope his permanent dentures fit properly when they are completed. He is young and will have a long life with these new teeth. read more

For few Months I have been looking for a new Dentist for a tooth Extraction I had bad experience with other Dental Place So I decided to check them out my first time i went there for a clean up and check up I was Very Very impressed the Dentist and assistants were awesome and Very Helpful they checked my teeth thoroughly and cleaned it Very good then I went back for my 2nd appointment for a extraction and they were so helpful and they did remove it without any issues and I didnt feel any pain during my extraction I am Very glad I found this place the Studio is Very Clean and cozy its been my 2nd day after my extraction and I do not feel any pain as much they did a good job on my wound Im def going there from not on for my cleaning and treatments etc :) read more

BayState dental of Springfield referred my husband to BayState dental of west Springfield who charged $450 for a cone beam scan. Springfield told him he would get the results in the next two days... Called many many many times finally Had to go somewhere else to get another scan and pay another $450. Tried to dispute the credit card charge and west Springfield denied my dispute. I reopened the case but wow. Terrible customer service w a big bill that I never received my results for. We are considered a low income family and $450 is a lot of money for us and I am about to start getting late fees. So stressed out from BayState Dental. Highly recommend perry orthodontics instead. This place has the most insane policies if you don't answer the call or reply to your text message The day before your appointment your appointment will be double booked so when you show up you will be the one waiting the first time I went there I waited 2 1/2 hours the second time I had to reschedule because I waited over two hours the third time I went there I waited about an hour and a half in the most recent time was 45 minutes the staff is great but that place is all about the dollar in making sure that seat is filled all the time they have no problem with you waiting hours on end but if you're 10 to 15 minutes late you will need to reschedule and if you want to go outside for five minutes they have an issue with that read more

I had called to make and appointment at a different office and got transferred here. Had an appointment scheduled almost 3 months prior to the date they scheduled my daughter. Now call me 2 days before her appointment date and tell me they cant see her because shes 3. So i would have to wait till shes 5 in order to be seen. Which is completely bs because my niece who is also 3 goes here. Im very annoyed by this. This practice comes off as caring but dont let the initial consultation fool you they are HIGHLY racist here and do not care if you are in pain due to a tooth they removed. Leaving behind shattered pieces to become infected so they can have you back in to make more $$$. CONSUMER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While the staff at Baystate Dental is friendly, their billing practices are EXTREMELY "unkosher." When I went for a cleaning, the dentist demanded that I had x-rays taken because the insurance company wouldn't pay for any work that may need to be done without them. I asked how much it would be, and they couldn't give me a price. I asked if my insurance would cover it and they said yes. After the cleaning, they sent me a statement saying that it would cost $885 for 3 fillings ($295 each for 3). When I phoned around, all other dentists only charge around $120 to $130 per filling. I questioned them about their rates being so high and they stated that there would be a different rate through my insurance, but they couldn't give me that number. I went ahead and had the fillings done (the dentist butchered my tooth in the process!), and then paid my bill in full on my way out the door. When I saw the statement from the insurance company, the dentist had maxed out my deductible limit for x-rays, 1 cleaning, and 3 fillings!!! Where I typically could get two cleanings per year, this year I can only get one now. To make matters worse, I just received a bill in the mail for what the insurance company didn't pay for in the end, and they charged me several finance charges on top of it!!! Finance charges?!? This is the first bill I received from them (1/14/12) and my visit was during this past summer!!! Needless to say from now on I will just go to my old dentist and pay the $120 per filling out of pocket (sadly, he doesn't take my new insurance), and not deal with a $295 out of pocket fee!
