It was busy for sure. Dropping off 3000 cruise ship passengers in a town of 8500 will make things a bit hectic. We were seated quickly and had our order taken pretty fast. Good local Alaska beer selection. Plenty of food choices. I ordered the Halibut fish and chips and my wife the pub burger with no sauce. Food arrived but no utensils. Had to go grab them from the front. Pub burger had sauce and had to take it to bar to get it replaced. It was replaced quickly and was tasty. My fish and chips had far too much breading. I actually cracked the breading and ate the fish like out of a shell. That was tasty but the breading not so much. So service was lacking and food was okay. The bill for a burger fish and chips one beer and one cider was $100. I lived in Hawaii for many years and understand island pricing but wow. So be aware. Decor was definitely rustic and Alaskan.

My friends and I were in Sitka for a fishing adventure and we had to look for dinner the first night of our trip. We ended up at the Bayview Pub. As we have been coming here for years we cannot help but notice how crowded and touristy Sitka has become. The cruise ships now stop by Sitka regularly and the town is inundated with passengers for these ships. So, as I look at the menu I see prices on the have really gone up and the Bayview Pub is overpriced in my opinion. The food here is pretty decent though. They make a great burger that is either bison or elk, served with fries for $38. My halibut fish and chips were 3 small pieces for $38. The server mentioned how good their chowder was so I substituted my fries for a cup. It was OK. Personally, I would not return because the food is just not worth the prices.

The only vegan option at least they were tasty!

One of the only spots in Sitka to have food/drinks. Quite busy, but service was fast. A fun stop but expect to pay tourist prices. No vegan options, but at least the fries were good!

Always good ambience with a great view. The food is scrumptious with many options on the menu. Everything made fresh with what ingredients available in Sitka. Attentive staff although it does get busy, they still do their best to take care of you. A specialty is their variety of potato sides, from fries, to loaded, to tater tots. and my favorite dessert is their brownie with chocolate and ice cream.

My burger was perfect. It was everything you want a really good burger to be! The bun was soft, and the house sauce was delicious. I opted for the handcut fries, maybe not the best choice. My fries were over done and I could not eat them. I was upset, because the next table over, their fries were golden and fresh. I did try a hand dipped onion ring....amazing! That is what I will order with my burger the next time I go in! read more

Very good upscale pub. Great food - the burgers on pretzel buns are to die for. Service was excellent- quick, knowledgeable and friendly server. Went there twice in our three day stay. read more

Bayview Pub - We ate here two nights in a row because the food was excellent, well prepared & served in reasonable time frame. Our server was friendly, attentive & helpful in selecting beers - offering tastes to help us decide. Portions were huge!! The amount of perfectly prepared fresh sautéed veggies with the lo-cal plate - I added salmon - was more than I could eat! We even enjoyed the music that was playing in the vibrant pub atmosphere with a great harbor view! read more

This place is honestly just mediocre. My husband and I rarely go here anymore because the food is over priced for what it is. We have never really had a meal we thought was that great, it's always just alright. Since the place has expanded, they now have darts and a stage for live music which can make for a fun night; these are usually the only reasons we make an appearance now and then. However, expect a pretty high bar tab because drinks are pretty pricey. read more

Chill setting with great views, pretty good pub food, and a good selection of Alaskan beers. I had the shrimp tacos and my wife had rockfish tacos, not spectacular but the seafood itself was fresh and perfectly cooked. read more

My first review ever, that's how bad it was. Salad came without many ingredients listed on the menu. Waitress acted annoyed we were asking for missing pickled eggs. She came back stating they were out of eggs and offered to take $1 off the price. That was nice of her. My friend ordered a chardonnay took one sip and didn't like it. She asked waitress if she could switch for a merlot. Waitress said no problem and took it away. When the bill came, the chardonnay was on there. Waitress refused to take it off saying my friend had drank it. My friend took one sip, that's it. If they weren't going to let her switch drinks that's fine but waitress should have been upfront about that and my friend would have just stuck with her original drink. Instead she was forced to pay for a drink that the waitress took away. I come here for work all the time, and will not be going back to this restaurant. Waitress was very rude and it was definitely unwarrented. read more

When any restaurant claims to have the "best" of something, I always feel inclined to put them to the test! Bayview Restaurant claimed to have the best fish and chips in town so I could not resist it when lunchtime rolled around. I really liked the decor of the place with the worn and dark wood and the small light fixtures. I guess the "best fish and chips in town" also caught the attention of almost the entire cruiseship so it was pretty full when I arrived. I of course went with the fish and chips and an Alaskan beer that I never heard of before. The food came quick and it was the wrong order but I tried a taste just to be sure. It was the chicken strips which tasted great enough that I would have skipped the fish and chips altogether! I was glad I didn't though becuase when the problem was fixed, I had me some pretty fine fish and chips! I did not know bottom fish could work so well battered (it should not surprise me) so I now put above cod as good fried fish options. One problem was the lack of accessible ketchup and they all came in little containers. I liked their small but good selection of PNW beers but I guess I chose the wrong one because I did not like it too much. Overall, I had a good experience and I think I would conclude that it is a place worth trying. read more

Had a cozy family dinner here. The atmosphere was very upbeat and friendly, including kid friendly. Nice view across the street to the water. I had the blackened rockfish tacos, and they were delicious. Husband had the fish and chips and was feeling a little greasy after - but that seems par for the course with a fried meal. Good beer selection. We ate at tables in the restaurant/pub section but you can also sit at the bar or couches in the back of the bar - or play pool or darts. TV's showing sports - but they aren't as intrusive as in some places (nice eg for the kids out with adults). read more

This is a good place and it is located right downtown Sitka, upstairs from a sporting good shop across from Crescent Harbor and across the street from the Westmark. I have heard complaints about service but personally, I have had nothing but great service. The wait staff I have had have been friendly and prompt. When they can't be prompt they tell you why and keep checking. I've been here more than 5 times in the past few months. It's a bar but your kids are welcome, as long as they behave. My teenage daughter and I come here a lot to make a meal out of the appetizers (wings are good, fried dill pickles, bacon wrapped scallops...blue cheese fries and homemade French fries to name a few). The barbecue nights are fair - I've had some dry pulled pork but fortunately the flavor was good and I like barbecue sauce, which they will bring, as well. Their fish and chips are good, whether halibut or rockfish and the burgers are very good and cooked to order. The hand cut French fries are outstanding. Sunday brunch is good - recommend the eggs benedict. They serve local brewed beer and Alaskan brewed beer as well as some other different kinds. You can't ask for Coors or Miller or Budweiser...that does make them a tad weird but the local brews are very good. Their mix drinks are strong and large. They do offer some great mocktails with half price refills. What is best is the view, the layout - very open but with enough partition walls to cut the noise and the fact that there are about 11 large screen tvs that show every sport going on. Warning: This is a Blackhawk stronghold but it's not so fanatical that they throw out Red Wings fans. read more

I came here with two friends, based on yelp reviews. Oops! While my salmon sandwich was fine. My friends ordered the dinner special "pulled pork nachos". Well, for $14 they got a basket of chips with very little cheese. And the pulled pork? Dry and flavorless. We never went back. Avoid this place unless you just want to drink beer. read more

Burgers were great, salads were disappointing (ingredients not as promised). Music was LOUD LOUD LOUD! We had to shout at each other across the table. I asked waitperson to turn it down a little, but she said she couldn't. So go for the good food, not the relaxed atmosphere. read more

There is a cool tradition here that if you ring the big bell that they have you have to buy everyone in that drink a bar. Cool enough one of the people in our tour rang the bell and it was exciting to see. You are then given a rain check token that you can save for your next visit or use right there and then. We used one and kept one as a souvenir. Also there is a liquor store connected to the bar where I'm sure locals come to stock up on their alcohol and tobacco. They feed you raw meet, there staff is the most disrespectful staff I've ever encountered. And even before having an actual rude encounter with there staff they have always seemed very passive towards me and whoever else is with me, my mom, godmother, bf, ect. Anyways this is a type of business you can't really have an issue with or a concern, anything of that matter unless you want the owners to personally call you tell you you're a spoiled brat, people like you don't deserve to be our customer and that the "horse shit" I did was unacceptable TO CLARIFY. They gave me a raw burger I sent them a photo showed them proof it's a raw burger told them my boyfriend was puking it up which he was, and they told me very rudely it was medium rare, (I need to take cooking lessons) (people like me shouldn't be able to eat out) and so on. so I posted it on my own timeline on my own personal Facebook page, posted the picture of the burger and said "is this raw, I seriously don't know I ordered it from a restaurant in town, looks raw to me and definitely tasted and the meet felt raw... is it" I even put the laughing emoji bc I was embarrassed I even had to ask that , I GENUINELY DID NOT KNOW. But this business thought I was bashing them when I never used there name in the post and had there employees personally text me again on my personal Facebook (meanwhile I'm a 17 year old girl, and the staff that were texting me were all adults), then there staff says what they need to then blocks me so I can't stick up for myself of course then goes out of there way to post on a local Facebook page in my town screenshots of my Facebook post on my personal Facebook and the rude stuff they had messaged me, from that point on in there post they go to say what's wrong with children like me I have nothing better to do and just a lot of other unnecessary and very unprofessional things were said, not only to me, and right on a local page for everyone to see but there staff was disrespecting just about everyone in there comments as well, also took the time to comment to other people in my comment section trying to start stuff with them. The owners of this business are the most unprofessional and disrespectful people I've ever encountered. You have to be very careful what you say and how you say it around the owners because they will take anything you say out of context. Oh they also took the time to call my father the next day (who I don't live with and haven't for who knows how long) just to say I'm not welcome there and if I ever come back they will call the police on me.... All for posting on my own social media. read more

Horrible service -- I just hope other customers saw the fiasco... The waitress was very rude. She threw a temper tantrum at the end when we asked for split checks. I could not believe the way she was speaking to paying customers. Did not know splitting a check was the end of the world for her. Throughout her temper tantrum during all of this - she yelled that "she didn't have time for this there's Venmo and PayPal." Continued to yell "if she had to split the checks she was going to lose it on us" (Us being the paying customers) Can't leave out that she added an automatic gratuity of 18% because she knew how terrible she was acting. Whenever we go out (even takeout) we tip well over 20%!!! It states on the menu that gratuity would be added to parties of 6 or more. We were a party of 5 with a pretty simple order. Another employee took over and got us taken care thankfully. I have over 14 years of experience in the food industry --12 of those years being a waitress and I have never acted this way toward a customer. .Yes - it was busy and she was busy, but all she had to do was say hey look, could you give me a few minutes - I am very busy. Glad she chose to freak out on us... To the waitress - you should probably brush up on your customer service skills if you want to make any money... ...Wouldn't have had to add that auto tip if you were friendly....just sayin' read more

I live in Ketchikan but make it up to Sitka fairly regularly. Heard this place was good so I stopped by last week with some friends for food and beers. They don't offer any "mainstream'' beers, only regional American craft beers, which is just fine with me. The bar offers "Table Taps" which are amazing and a very cool way to share beers amongst a table. Definitely recommended if going there with a group. Friendly service, good vibe and all of the food they brought us was notably fresh and absolutely delicious! Word has it they will have a full liquor bar very soon. That seems to be the only missing ingredient as far as I can tell. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Sitka and I would certainly recommend this to anyone. For my money, this is the best food in Sitka. read more

Good food, good drinks, good atmosphere... Motivation to yelp about them inspired by the chicken tenders and wing sauce. My son brought home "two spicy and one mild" containers. I have consumed concoctions around 4 million s.h.u. In the past and these both approach that in my opinion...they're either ghost pepper or Scott's bonnet based. The "mild" is like 7 scoville units less hot, it's an awful prank. They are still delicious...but unless you like punishing your nether regions, steer clear of both sauces. Barbecue is probably quite yummy. If you DO try the hot sauces, sneak a yogurt in to gargle with later. read more

Directed here from locals at a recent convention for marine mammals. Disappointed that there isn't a "cup of soup 'n salad" option, but got a cup of soup from the soup special advertised as "Tomato Basil." The server forgot my order. After a reminder, the soup came but it was all bacon. It was cream-colored and NOT HOT and the first spoonful held up was a BACON strip. $5? Seems to me a soup advertised as "tomato basil" has certain connotations. I explained to the server that it tasted like pig farmer afterbirth, the stuff of slaughter houses, and it was neatly taken off my bill, no hassles. read more

GREAT FOOD! they have great food and great people there! the only think I don't like is how expensive it is and how they have that gratitude tip if you have more then 4 people I think, I just like to give my own tips not force to tip.. but good food, just pricey. read more

Their food is very good and they have a wide selection. The staff is always nice. I always suggest The Pub to people who visit from out of town. read more
