I got the large brisket meal here, which came with garlic bread, beans, and mac and cheese. The brisket here is exactly as tender as I expect a good brisket to be. It's very flavorful, too--pair it with either the spicy or sweet BBQ sauce (do this with the bread, too). Mac and cheese are slightly underwhelming if you're a fan of cheese, but it's still good. Do not let the appearance of the plate deceive you: this is a very filling meal. It was a struggle to have another meal later in the day. Overall, I am highly satisfied with this bbq and with how much I paid for it. I would recommend this place and I think I would go again, should I be in the area. Bonus: One might look up the website or see the store interior and notice that they look eerily similar to that of some other bbq places, like Redwood City BBQ. What's going on here? It turns out, BBQ 152 and Redwood City are the "same store" but in different places. BBQ 152 serves as the core kitchen for some items which get shipped out to the BBQ places found in the other cities. So if you have something here, know that it should translate to a comparable experience at these other stores! This establishment, without a doubt the most delicious, exceptional quality BBQ I've EVER had locally. When I say "locally" I am referring to the entire Bay Area region. Over the years I've tried a few other well known places such as Trail Dust, Armadillo Willy's, Dickeys, etc. Although I haven't been to as many during the past few years due to perceived costs for most BBQ type places. Everyone knows that quality meats, and the effort required to prepare it can be quite costly. That said, prior to trying BBQ152 the first time, only Trail Dust in Morgan Hill was at the top of my BBQ list as far as quality was concerned. Unfortunately the cost of Trail Dust was a significant deterrent from making it a regular stop. Despite having driven past this place numerous times while I was in Gilroy, it never crossed my mind to stop and try it. About a month ago a friend of mine took me here, and that visit definitely made me take notice! I ordered the beef brisket, incl. sides of potato salad, and garlic bread. Choice of two BBQ sauces; original/spicy. The brisket comes cut sliced. Meat was exquisitely smoked, extremely tender and texture unlike I've seen before. I've had BBQ meat that's been slow-smoked for hours, but not quite this flavorful and superb. The brisket not only exceeded my expectations, but was without a doubt the most detectible BBQ I've EVER tried. Both the original and spicy versions of the BBQ sauce compliments the meat perfectly. I'd consider the spicy sauce not to be overly hot, but it's got the right amount of pepper and smoky flavor. The original is better if you're not too fond of spicy additions. I was told it takes over 24 hours to prepare and cure their meats in their outdoor smoker; anywhere from 16-18 hours. Meats prepared early each morning are typically not ready until the following day. They often sell out completely especially on the busier weekends and during events. Certainly above the quality of Trail Dust, and a league of it's own. I don't ever recall any place having BBQ beef brisket quite like I've tried here. I've since visited BBQ152 at least 3 more times since my initial visit. I've tried the beef brisket and tri tip sandwiches, and a couple sides. The baked beans, potato salad, and toasted garlic bread is also fantastic. Another pleasant surprise was that the cost of their menu is very reasonable given the superior quality of the meats. I'd expect them to be more expensive if it wasn't for the fact they're in Gilroy. Dined in their outdoor patio, and orders to-go. Preparation time is usually 10-15 min as they only seem to have a couple people working. I typically visit during the late morning, before lunch when it gets busier during the weekday. In summary, BBQ152 will be on my regular go-to places, even if it means driving all the way here and back for it! read more

We absolutely love this place, and have it about twice a month. We actually got them to cater for a small gathering and everything went so perfect. I loved how I received an email with confirmation and we were able to communicate and make changes, this made it so easy for us. Delivery went smooth, and even after the event they still reached out to make sure we were satisfied. My family really enjoyed it and were so glad they were able to take some left overs. My expectations were high for BBQ seeing this place was well established in the area. I had the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. All incredibly dry, lacked any flavor or rub, and really lean. No fat or spices just made it lackluster. The beef back rib was amazing. Super tender and good flavor. It was the first time they ever did it. I usually go to South Winchester BBQ. It's the same owners. All of the restaurants alongside Trail Dust and Redwood City BBQ all make some of the best pork ribs. But the brisket is also nice, it is moist, tender, and flavorful. I don't need anything else there - well, maybe the beer. They have a pretty large beer collection of unique and hard to find specialty brews and ciders. Because of Covid, you can order outside and they'll either call your name or text when your order is ready. I've honestly experienced nothing but super fast service. And they make it seem like buying a loaf for $8 is a deal.... well. It is 4 pieces so..... no deal The pulled pork was ok. Dry. The tri tip was good but It was 8 slices for $12 to $15. And for that price you get NO SIDES, so it is basically tri tip. Only Also, the "cobbler" is enough for 2 people, but I am not sure how this qualifies for cobbler. It is fruit with some type of goop on the top that doesn't even look like it was baked. Definitely a fail I want nothing more than to support a local business. So once again, we're looking for places to eat at 8:30pm when most places close at nine. I really wanted some ribs so we found this location. We ordered at 8:40pm. The kind soul at the register was still good to us. We didn't want to take a table so we just sat in our car and ate, which was fine. I got the rib plate which was 4 ribs, 2 sides (double potato salad because I panicked and couldn't figure out what I wanted for the 2nd side) and some grilled garlic bread. Those ribs were so tender. Perfectly smoked and seasoned. I added a bit of their spicy sauce and it was sooo good. It starts off subtle and then it keeps getting spicier and spicier the more you eat it, but you can't stop. The potato salad was different from any I've had before. I was glad I got 2 servings because it tasted like it was smoked or bbq flavored. Different but very tasty. Even the grilled garlic bread was really good. I slapped a little meat and sauce and it was the perfect mini slider. My husband got the firebrand chicken sandwich with beans. He really liked the sandwich. I tried his beans and I'm definitely getting those next time. The smokiness in those beans was delicious. Pork ribs: 5/5 so deliciously smoked. Not the steamed kinda ribs which I appreciated. Reminded me of the ribs in St. Louis. Tri tip: 2/5. Wow. So so so dry. Would skip on this one. This place does it right and they have a low key vibe. the place looks like it used to be a fast food restaurant they've closed off the drive-thru and inserted to slow smoking BBQ. The BBQ is pretty good overall, we got ribs brisket and tri-tip in a 3 meat combo. BBQ baked beans potato salad and coleslaw as the sides. The kids grilled cheese sandwiches on Texas toast, just a heads up. that toast also comes with the sides on the barbecue platter and it is delicious. The coleslaw was very much KFC style if you're into that kind of thing. All of the meat was cooked to the point that you could taste the smoke but nothing was dry. So incredibly disappointed with our experience here tonight. We ordered over $200 worth of food to go, and when we got home we were missing half a rack of ribs, brisket, and garlic bread. My husband drove back and was confronted by a rude employee. She insisted that they packed our entire order, and argued with my husband for a solid 5 minutes about him being wrong. Like why would we make the effort to drive back and pick a fight. Incredibly unprofessional and just rude. Will not be retuning.
