Pretty good. Some misses, but overall, a good food experience. The service may have been the highlight, although that itself has some misses. Super pleasant and nice staff, but I didn't get my water topped off once and the sauces, at least one of mine was out and no one noticed. The food itself was very good, but I do wonder about the 24hr brisket. It didn't seem like it was smoked 24hrs. The pork ribs were very good, better (to me at least) than the brisket. The tri tips I'd avoid. I don't think their food is necessarily fresh from the smoker, may have been cooked a day before, but still good. The sausage was tasty, but parts of it were too burnt for my liking. Compared to your bbq spots in the Bay Area, Smoke Point is fairly good. Small and welcoming BBQ spot focusing on a limited number of meats and sauces. Compared to joints in Texas..., that's probably a different story.

A nice little place amongst a quiet neighborhood with an awesome outdoor seating area. We were seated right away and our server was very personable and truly appeared to enjoy her job. We ordered a two meat plate (brisket & jalapeño cheddar sausage) with two sides: loaded baked potato and bbq beans. Hubby is a bbq connoisseur and felt that the brisket was a bit overcooked, needed more rub but the cut and fat were on point. The sausage was tasty and the beans were out of this world. The potato was a good size filled with the works. The main downfall: the food needed to be hotter, it was barely warm. The cheese on the potato wasn't melted and the beans were literally cold. The pickled onions and pickles were a welcome addition along with the Texas toast. One pet peeve I have is observing cooks eating & drinking coke with their bare hands while serving up plates. This practice is okay at home but not in a restaurant. The Smoke Point BBQ is a charming establishment near Mission San Juan Bautista. It's a good little place to stop in for some homemade grub.

    Tri Tip Sandwich

This place has extensive options for bbq! We got the tri tip sandwich with beans and it was decent. The sauces were the best part. I also tried some of the pulled pork and sausage and they were nice to try. Not something I'd find myself craving unless I happen to be in the area.

This place is known for low-and-slow smoked meats done in a Texas BBQ style. The brisket is usually the highlight--tender, smoky, and well-rendered fat with a strong bark. Pulled pork and ribs also get solid praise for being juicy and not overly sauced. Sides are a must here. Cornbread, cole slaw, baked beans, brussel sprouts and more. It's the kind of place where you'll taste both traditional pit BBQ technique + restaurant-level refinement. Friendly staff with a small town vibe. So relaxed and chill. If you're in San Juan Bautista, this is one of the best food stops in town, especially for BBQ lovers.

These people know their meat!!!! Brisket 10/5 juicy/fatty/flavorful... like me ;) Sausage 5/5 great flavor and seasoning, nice snap Tri-tip 4/5 great flavor but dry, cooked past medium Sides 1/5 Ok- the hard part is the sides, like no one cares about the sides and I share this hopeful that they will be action. Cesar salad $11 with about $1 worth of ingredients, it's concave in the bowl with some bagged Parmesan on it. "Loaded" baked potato $12 with less than probably $2 with of cheese, bacon and some watered down sour cream. Not even salt and peppered or with butter- super dry and underwhelming (it's a baked potato guys it take minimum effort to make it delicious) Mac & cheese probably the most disappointing while it's a fair size serving it's kinda like a box of kraft but less flavor- now it has a slightly flour texture so if they make it from scratch it's not cooked long enough so the raw flour texture is still there and absent of flavor Banana pudding $9 3.5/5 they use some artificial jello base so it makes it bouncy but it's not that bad and it's a pint Ice tea- was cloudy so tastes old and watered down at the same time- they took it off the bill The sauces on the table were great variety and most tasted so good! Service - great, our waitress was super enthusiastic and lovely to interact with. Cute bbq shop and I'm glad we stopped by on the way to Santa Cruz.

We went in hungry while on our road trip and the food and staff did not disappoint! I ordered the Dirty Bird Fries and could only finish half. Easily could have been a sharable dish. Staff was extremely welcoming and brought the food out super fast. I loved seeing that they offer blankets for their outdoor patio.

We stumbled upon this Bbq joint on our way home from Paso Robles. Perfect stop for a lunch break. The staff was helpful and nice. Food was delicious. I had the Chicken Caesar Sandwich. Chicken was tender, very flavorful and the bun was nice and soft.We had a couple meat plates with assortment of sides, including Brussel sprouts, mac and cheese and bbq beans. All good! Meat was tender and nicely smoky. They have indoor seating as well as a large outdoor area with some games. Dog and family friendly. Would recommend a visit if you like bbq.

    Prime Cowboy Style Tri Tip

We shared a tri tip with baked potato and asparagus. Tri tip was medium rare and well marinated: not too sweet. Baked potato is a must try. We were glad we ordered it. The service was great. The only drawback was there were lots of flies!

    Cornbread

you need to come here several times in your life..... excellent service, full flavors, perfect ambience, chefs kiss!! + melt in your mouth brisket, and whatever you do-- you cannot miss the cornbread. thank you for such an amazing experience!

    Brisket and Tri Tip Sandwiches

The brisket and tri-tip sandwiches boast high-quality ingredients, with the exception of the bread. While they're both enjoyable, they fall short of being top-tier BBQ contenders.

We picked this place for my friends birthday, we both enjoyed our lunch, they are a dog friendly place & i got to pet an adorable dog, they have desserts but we were too full, they bring a table fan but we still had some flies, our waitress was super nice, lots more to try, we'll be back

This is such a cute hidden gem in San Juan Bautista! We stopped here on our way to Monterey with our 1 year old. The restaurant is small, but bright and airy. Our waitress was the sweetest. She brought a little toy and crayons for our son to play with. The food was delicious! I'm a big brussel sprouts fan and I will be dreaming about these ones for a while the meat was also really good, and prices were actually pretty decent! Also, one of my husband's AirPods fell out while we were there. He realized it about 30 min after we left. When he went back in to try to find it, our waitress had it waiting for him! I wish I got her name. We were there on 9/14 around 2 pm. This will definitely be our go-to stop on our way to Monterey now!

We finally got the chance to check it out. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The Prunedale Market is located along side the highway 101 freeway in the small town of Prunedale. It just takes a few long right turns to get there. Parking is easy and accessible out in the front parking lot. From the front, the market does not look like a popular BBQ spot. It looks like a simple small market store to grab quick snacks and drinks. Once inside there is a BBQ and deli section to your right. A small dining area is to your left. The decor is old fashioned and quaint. The 2 gentlemen greet you with friendly hospitality. We ordered the Tri tip sandwich, half slab of ribs which includes 2 potatoes and a cup of corn chowder. The pit master/owner Martin, who use to work for Original Joe's, was kind enough to also include a quarter chicken leg, a sausage, and extra ribs. It was so much food for our party of 3. Everything was delicious and hearty. The Tri tip sandwich was scrumptious with the flaming Fritos adding a nice crunchy texture and kick with every bite. The ribs were juicy and smokey. Potatoes complemented very well with the rest of the meat and chicken. Corn chowder was so tasty and creamy. I did not know corn chowder was that good. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Prunedale Market. The staff were super nice and accommodating. They even offered for our son to grab some free ice cream to go. We politely declined. The prices were very reasonable. All that food fed us for the next 2 days. Lol. We hope to be back when we are in the area with other friends and family.

The bacon cheeseburger I received looked nothing like the advertised photos and came with only one piece of bacon. After asking about it, I waited over 5 minutes for more bacon, which ended up being undercooked. I also ordered garlic fries, but they were cold when served. When I brought it up, I was told it was my fault because I let them sit, even though they were already cold when they arrived. To make matters worse, I had to wait another 10+ minutes while the waitress called the owner because I wasn't satisfied with the food. The milkshake was good, but at $10, the prices overall are very high for the quality and service received. For the cost, I expected much better food, customer service, and consistency with what is advertised. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

First off, the portion sizes are crazy generous -- seriously, you will NOT leave hungry. A huge shoutout to Roxanna, who gave us some of the best customer service we've ever had. She greeted us the moment we walked in and told us to sit anywhere we liked. Menus were brought out immediately, and when I asked for recommendations, she gave super detailed info about the menu favorites -- including her personal picks. Thanks to her suggestions, I ordered the Mushroom Burger with garlic fries, and WOW... hands down the best garlic fries I've ever had. The burger was insanely delicious and packed with flavor. I tried my best to finish it, but the portions were so big I had to tap out (even after sharing fries!). My son ordered onion rings and a cookies & crème milkshake, and he loved both. We shared the onion rings because he couldn't finish them either -- again, HUGE portions. And according to him, the milkshake is the best ever. Service-wise? Easily a 10-star experience. Roxanna checked on us often, made sure we had everything we needed, and I noticed she treated all the customers with the same level of friendliness and attention. She's patient, personable, and really elevates the whole dining experience. We'll definitely be back -- this just became our new go-to spot!
