Great food, nice staff, improved taste of all the food in general, even their coleslaw and BBQ beans were much improved from previously

THIS PLACE IS REALLY GREAT! We ordered the three meat meal (pulled pork, ribs, and chicken). I'd recommend this because you get to try out three of their delicious smoked meats. The ribs were great, and the pulled pork and chicken were pretty good as well. $15 We also had the tri tip - you can order by weight (we got half a pound for about 8-9 bucks). This was the best tri tip I've ever had. Simply fantastic. Makes me want to eat BBQ forever. Yum. It's close to Gilroy outlets, which was a sh**-show this close to Christmas time. We came here to escape the crowds and impossible-to-find parking. All in all, I recommend this place for the great BBQ. read more

I stopped here today on my way back from Disneyland to try their bbq(since im fans of the sister restaurants). I got tri tip/pulled pork/hot links/beans. The tri tip and pulled pork were great(nice flavor and great taste). Hot links and beans were good too. The guy at the counter was also very friendly. After grabbing some stuff at the Gilroy Outlets, my friend kept on raving about the best BBQ in Gilroy being at Barbeque 152. I can't say that I know many BBQ places, but I was definitely down. Man, Barbeque 152 is pretty good. We got the tri-tip sandwiches, which were $7.00 each. They're pretty large for sandwiches and they were definitely stuffed with tri-tip goodness. The cashier was polite and gave us extra BBQ sauce and personally handed us our take-out when we were sitting at a table, so props to them for that. As far as the taste, the BBQ sauce is amazing, but you have to make sure to use it. Honestly, I thought the tri-tip was a little dry and not fully tender, but with the BBQ sauce, it's ridiculously hard to notice. For those that like things hot, they also have a spicy BBQ sauce. Overall, Barbeque 152 is definitely some of the best BBQ I've had. I have to say, Phil's BBQ is the best BBQ I've ever had, though... Of course, that's way down in SD... So, while I'm up in NorCal, I'll probably be stopping by here again. Good stuff! read more

OMG I love this place! It's real food, I came from Aptos which has the Aptos BBQ. This place is so much better than that. It's a great find. I will definitely be coming back. Service was 100%!! The gentleman at the register was very helpful, he helped with the menu & cared about his job. We felt welcomed. Food: Potato salad was delicious!! Chili beans had a different twist to them, almost like a mole sauce, we enjoyed them. Tri-tip was not our favorite, it was cooked well done (not to our liking) & had no flavor. That's the only negative thing to list. I would say that the service takes the cake, very good! read more

I like my veggies, but certain days, id crave for the bbq here. Given, there had been a or two where the flavoring of the meat was a little off (not too often), BUT that sauce they have wins me every time. I think i eat more spicey bbq sauce than meat... My favorite would have to be the tri tip meat... with more sauce than necessary... MmMmMmm..... I might have to go back for lunch tomorrow after this review. read more

Tri-tip sandwich was excellent tri-tip was lean, moist good smoke ring. all you could taste was chimichurri and a garlic sauce you added to the bread. They recommended the cornbread with extra butter we have that cornbread was moist and good, however, the extra butter turn out to be a butter liquid that look like movie popcorn butter. Was horrible and not recommended 2 add, white girls who trouble with the cornbread and do that with the butter. read more

We LOVE this place! It's ALWAYS great food. I am partial to their ribs, but that's just me. My husband is a fantastic cook and he has tried everything and says it is also ALWAYS GREAT! We try to only get take away from our local restaurants during this horrible pandemic as we understand their struggle. My hat is off to these hard working people. Wear your mask and stay safe. Going to Gilroy Gardens two days in a row, I smelled bar-b-que as I was driving on Monterey Road. I have always wondered where it was coming from! And Barbeque 152 was the place. We saw the smokers out front and then the sign "Barbeque 152" and made a u-turn straight for it. My husband ordered ribs and chicken meal to-go and we brought it home to Castroville (little drive). The meal was fantastic! Loved the meat and loved the sauce. The food was still quite warm from being in the to-go container. We will definitely come back here for some meat! read more

After all the amazing reviews we decided to stop here on our way back home. I am hoping it was just a bad day since it was rainy but I was not impressed. The ribs did not fall off the bone and were a little too fatty. Almost like someone just didn't cook them long enough. Beans were not great and the tri tip was not that tender. The pulled pork was the best meat we had ordered but not the "best" in the world as some have claimed here on yelp Maybe it's because I'm from the south and have had amazing Barbeque. I did feel the place was nice and clean and friendly. Came in tonight at BBQ 152 for some beef ribs and a beer. The beef ribs are delicious my favorite!! And I tried a new beer they have on tap I think it was Nutty Operator. Perfect pairing and really hit the spot. The food is amazing and the service is always great. For a meal under $20 you can't beat it. Best bbq hands down. They even gave us samplers to try there meat out which is very cool Not a lot bbq places do that! So hats off to 152!! One suggestion we make is to make a sampler platter with collard greens! This used to be my go to place for amazing BBQ ribs, tri tip, chicken and a nice pour for a decent glass of wine...but today, for the third time, I had to send back ribs that were ALL fat, after about a 20 minute wait to be served. No apologies, no customer service...so no ME anymore. When I spend $26 for a supposedly quick lunch, I expect more. read more

Solid 3 star local chain BBQ, Tri-Tip is good, a little to much fat on it but super good. Everything is al carte so once you add a tiny cup of slaw or potato salad and a drink your at $15. No fries or salad bar. The store in Salinas has all you can eat sliders during the week. read more

Pretty disappointing. From the overall star rating and location in cattle country, I had high expectations. It fell pretty flat. Tri tip was tough, over cooked, and bland. Pork ribs were okay, but nothing to write home about. Beans were tasteless, and the garlic bread may have been the worst I've ever had. A lot of potential, but requires much more than just throwing any old meat in a smoker. Attention to detail is key for good BBQ, and it was definitely lacking here. read more

This place is a cookie cut duplicate of the Trail Dust in Morgan Hill as well as the Aptos BBQ place as well, all owned by the same family. What they did was buy the Trail Dust some years ago, attempt to make the same recipes, but essentially ruined what the previous owners had done with perfection. Then they just copied that formula to these other two places, BBQ 152 being included. For me, I dont like when a good thing gets ruined and honestly, the food is not that good. The Tri-Trip has way to much grizzle and fat. The chicken in some places is under-cooked (salmonella anyone?) and the beans have a dirty taste to them. Probably because they didn't wash them correctly before cooking them. What I do know is if you like less than fair BBQ, then maybe this place is for you. But trying to add a fast food approach to BBQ is a big mistake. At least this place was mildly more friendly than the Trail Dust, but that doesn't make up for bad BBQ. I am updating my review with a lower rating because on multiple occasions I have shown up in the evening, and this place has been out of food. On my birthday I invited several friends to eat with me here and we had to go somewhere else because they were out of everything but chicken. They said we need to call ahead before coming here to ensure they have adequate amounts of food. What? that;s crazy. I get it, meat is expensive and they are trying to play it safe with their business, but I don't think it is good practice to run out of meat on multiple nights. I havent gone back since I had that experience. If you go I recommend going at lunch time to ensure that they have enough food. read more

While I definitely wasn't expecting anything special (or at all really), seriously turned out to be the best ribs I've had in California. Super tender and juicy with really good BBQ sauce. I docked it a star because I think their potato salad was just okay - simply too far out there (unique tasting). I'm from the (East Coast) South and I grew up on BBQ, so definitely feel the potato salad needs to be there. Definitely recommend getting the ribs though - wow. read more

I'll admit it when I'm wrong! But lets get down to the food and my most recent experience first, the ribs were awesome, fall off the bone tender, and juicy! I posted previously on BBQ 152 and was very disappointed both times; maybe chalk my past experiences as a bad day for the cooks or something. Hello smoky goodness...have orders from here quite a few time and it never dissapoints. Brisket is delicious...robe and chicken are finger licking good...and I would also recommend their cornbread...it was devine...I orders the half sheet and there was plenty for everybody. The staff is friendly and fast at helping you..don't hesitate of you see a long line...it moves fast. I bought 3 lbs of brisket and took some tortillas and an order of cornbread to Sarah's Vineyard and had a great meal and great wine!...Highly recommend. read more

I've tried this place several times. The first time I went they didn't have any chicken or tri tip. I cut them some slack because I thought maybe I just caught them on a busy day. Tonight I decided to get the pulled pork. For $13 I got about 3 ounces of meat, one piece of garlic bread and a tiny cup of beans. I won't be going back. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good. Ordered their chicken & tri-tip...both meats had very little flavor & why was my tri-tip *oily*??? Got their potato salad as a side...mediocre at best. Tri-tip at Armadillo Willy's is 10x better than this place. Famous Daves is better than this place. Their garlic bread was ok but it was nothing to write home about... Came back after a while and honestly I don't know why it took me that long, same super friendly service, delicious food, this time I order a tri tip salad it was so good fresh veggies a lot of meat, more meat than greens actually, the candied pecans on top and the blackberries made it even better and home made raspberry vinaigrette, it was happy hour and I saw someone order slider oh man they are bigger than some regular size sandwiches in other places and looked so good will go back soon and have some of that read more

BBQ tastes great --if you can get it. Been here on three occasions. Every time they were sold out of tri-tip and ribs. Had to wait for 30+ minutes. But when you promise 3 young men BBQ, you pretty much have to come through! Great food but management needs to plan for busy Saturday and Sunday evenings. I would not try again if it didn't taste so good. Tonight, I watched three separate parties of 3+ leave because they weren't willing to wait. Maybe you have to call ahead???? Pulled pork was really good, but tri-tip was like rubber on several bites. Would be willing to give another shot because flavor was really good. Maybe whoever selected pieces for my sandwich was choosing poorly. Little bit pricy for what you get. $8 for a regular size was like a 4" x 4" sandwich. Maybe I should have tried the large.
