Although the decor and ambience is quite modest, this restaurant has become our favorite Indian/Pakistani because of the food. The flavors are deep and complex. We went here for dinner on a Saturday night and aside from a family with a hysterical crying child it was a great experience. I started with the potato samosa ($3.99 for two). While the samosas are excellent, the real star is the accompanying chick peas. Very flavorful and tender. I don't know how they do it but they are the best I have ever had. I ordered the chicken Karahi/Korma ($12.99, number 19 on the menu). The flavors meld together and the dish is simply superb. But watch out, the food is HOT. I forgot to ask for mild and I was sweating like crazy as I ate. I did not mind because the food is so delicious, but I looked like I had taken a shower by the end of the meal. The wife got the lamb shank ($12.99) and it also was delicious but really spicy. We both loved our meal. Their naan bread is great and goes well with the sauce that you'll want to soak up. Just a great place. I hope they are in business many, many years. Oddly, they offer pizza and burgers on the menu. Why? Food was above other local prices considering the small portion did not come with rice. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and it was NOT creamy, lacked any presence of "heavy cream" and was very chunky and had an excess amount of grease, that was OBVIOUS to not be butter. The naan was of decent quality, considering about 30% of it was burnt. LAME...prices are already inflated for delivery and then they charge extra for bread WHICH SHOULD BE INCLUDED like all other other restaurants do... YOU EAT ALL THESE CURRIES WITH BREAD, stop charging extra otherwise you will continue to get bad reviews for not only your AWFUL customer service but now also your cheap business practices. CHEAP DESIS. Review on the food: Butter Chicken (0/5): Sorely lacking chicken and cream. A very sweet, tomato-ey curry which is not Butter Chicken by any length of the imagination. Huge disappointment. Kadhai Chicken (regular) (2/5): This was my bad; I should have read the options in detail and gone with boneless. While the flavors were good, we got chopped up back and leg pieces, so it was all bits of bones; with no real solid meat. Very hard to eat since we were picking out multiple little bones in each and every bite. Beef Nihari (2/5): This was OILY, as in 1/2 inch of oil on top; could use another big chunk of meat to make it worth the $$. Salad (0/5): This was complimentary. We didn't ask for or expect it. We used them for our wedding. The inconsistency is the only reason I hesitate to recommend them. The food was good the final day even though it was somewhat cold. One day there was issue with them being there on time making us delay the entire even on that day. The other issue was many of our guests complained of getting sick the first two nights. I love coming here, I get the same mixed meat platter every time and it's always so good

I would like to start off by saying that this place is a MUST GO! I have been in the Richardson area for the past 3 years and have passed this restaurant many times with no intention to every go. But I have learned my lesson to never judge by looks. I am definitely coming back and bringing my friends and family with me. I ordered the Goat Karahi, Mixed grill platter, a plain naan and a garlic naan. Before getting our meals we were served a side salad with yogurt dressing and honestly it was mediocre compared to how AMAZING the lunch was. For the mixed grill platter, the meat was so soft and juicy and flavorful with just the right amount of mirch. The platter had just the right amount of variety of different kababs and chicken, I HIGHLY recommend ordering this you will not be dissatisfied. Also, he platter is enough to around feed 3 or 4 people. The goat karahi was also very good, the meat literally fell of the bone and not chewy at all, I do not prefer goat at all and I ate this dish up (I am telling you this is a lot coming from me, esp for me to recommend). The naans were huge and delicious, the perfect crispy soft texture and I loved how what it was served on. Also the food comes with this green looking chutney don't ignore it, it's the perfect tartiness to go with the chickens and curries. GUYS AGAIN if you have not been this is a place you HAVE to experience. After having such a great experience there are a couple things that did disappoint me. First was I have never experienced where I had to order and pay for a side of rice or naan when ordering a curry like dish. To me Pakistani food is a bit different than Indian food. This restaurant was found by accident. I thought it was an American BBQ place. The goat korma was okay. The gravy was too thick. The chicken tikka was a bit dry. I like the garlic naans. I wish they were garlic butter naan though. It would taste so much better. The sugarcane juice was refreshing, a recommended drink during the hot summer days. I would definitely come back for the bhindi gosht because I love okras. I did not see it on the menu to order the first time because it was a Friday's special menu written on the small board by the cashier. The customer service is excellent. Fantastic place, with an extraordinary menu full of options to either have small and good take-away or assemble numerous add-ons into a festive table full of food. I was looking for a good halal-certified restaurant for a colleague I was traveling with so he didn't have to keep going veggie-only, and stumbled across BBQ King on Yelp. A quick call to confirm that they close at 11PM sealed the deal, and off we drove. Getting into Richardson and finding BBQ King was easy enough, but parking may be a challenge during peak hours. The restaurant looks small and Spartan, but stop at the door and you'll smell quality cooking wafting out at you. Practically floating in the door like Bugs Bunny on the waves of food, our hostess/waitress asks us to wait a minute while she clears out a booth. Now - fair warning - if you eat too many meals here you may not fit into a booth, but they are comfortable and have a spacious table, especially if you're a party of 2. My colleague got excited at seeing the options on the menu, and suddenly we have a pitcher filled to the brim with mango lassi arriving at the table, followed by approximately half the menu. Boneless chicken biryani came out first, and provided lovely grilled chicken and a rice base for what followed. Incredibly creamy butter chicken was next, with just a little bit of bite to the curry to remind us that this was proper and authentic family-made food and not some pre-packaged meal. 5 pieces of chicken boti cubes were next, grilled and seasoned to perfection. They were nicely framed by the 2 beef kabobs we'd also ordered, which had very finely ground meat, but a few pieces of bone seemed to have snuck through and I carefully made sure those didn't get accidentally swallowed. Oh - lest I forget - the naan. 1 beef and 2 regular naan, just because we had to try everything we could on the menu. The regular naan came out piping hot from the oven, and absolutely magnificent. The beef naan was a little less hot and fresh-tasting, but still quite good. We didn't bother with appetizers, and at the first study of the menu we had a fleeting belief we'd make it to dessert (the kulfi looked GREAT), but it was not to be. Customer service was great all-around, with the waitress and a waiter coming to check on us regularly to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. About halfway through our dinner, the owner also came out to ask how things were going and if everything was good. That kind of attention to detail shone through everything here. It's a family-oriented restaurant, and the staff (from the owner on down) care about every detail, from the lights being replaced outside as we pulled up to the quality of the food and even the cleanliness of the bathrooms, everything was just right. I look forward to coming back here, but do think it should be for lunchtime, with an hour or 2 of a nap scheduled immediately thereafter. I've been to bbq king a few times but over the weekend went and saw their real horrible customer service. They did not care that our food took over 30 minutes. Ordered chicken tikka masala but honestly have no idea what they served us. It didn't taste like any desi dish I've ever had before. We had different people come asking us about our order each person confused. The man at the end that went to pack up our food took the food then started roaming around the restaurant for 15 minutes while we sat there.. we were the only people eating too.. wouldn't recommend because of horrible food and even worse customer service. read more

So we have been going to this restaurant for a few months now, actually a year. The food is consistently good. We have had family get togethers , birthday parties and food and service has always been good. Mixed grill items and nihari are always good but what i like most are the naanss. They are amaaaaziiing! Keema nan, roghni naan, garlic naan!! All super nice. So yes, restrooms can be worked upon and would request managment to make an effort to keep them clean. Paan corner is great too. If it wasnt for yelp, I probably would not have ate here. The name of this place conjures images of Chinese food. The name, along with the logo of a bright orange longhorn, makes me think its a Texas barbecue joint. Once you get close to the building, thats when I realize its mostly Indian food. The atmosphere makes me feel as if this was a rec center out in west texas. I dont know why but it doesnt feel modern. They have these odd, red/blue paper flames in the front of the store that belong in a Halloween spirit store. The first time I ever walked in, they were fairly busy, and the waiter didnt even acknowledge us for at least five minutes. we sat ourselves down, got our own menus, and then decided our hunger outweighed our patience. Certainly not a good first impression, but my friend insisted we eat here again so I agreed the next week. My friend and I shared everything we ordered: chicken biryani, butter chicken, beef sheek kabob, potato samosa, and naan. Everything was delicious and their chicken biryani comes in big portions! Their naan is great, but not the best. Its definitely gets the job done, being warm, soft, with some crispy pieces on the edges. The samosas were tasty, and were pretty hot. The edges were crispy but the middle surfaces were not. The butter chicken is a little different from other places. If I had to guess, they dont use as much cream, which would explain why its redder than it is orange. I enjoyed it, but I figured I would mention it. I was not a fan of the beef kabob. It tasted like ground beef rolled in cumin and stuck on a skewer. It didnt help that it lukewarm, but it was cheap so I forgive them. Prices were pretty reasonable and the food came out in a reasonable time as well. Im not going to be hard on their service, because food comes before service for me. they are a sweet staff, but you may have to be assertive to get their attention. They arent ignoring you, but I swear they are a bit scatterbrain. Id eat here again and say you should check it out. New to the area and was super exited to try this place, as I love Pakistani food so ordered a ton of food for takeout on my way home from work. When I got home and opened up the bags, there was no dessert included that I had paid for. I immediately called the restaurant and instead of apologizing they accused me of lying, saying they did include the dessert in the bags. After arguing back and forth for a few minutes they offered me to come and pick up another dessert, but the restaurant is near work so about ~30 min from home and I wasn't about to go back and instead asked for a refund. The man said he couldn't give me a refund and had to wait for his manager to enter his password in the system. They said they would issue a refund and call me back later that evening. I never received the call or refund. The food initially was tasty, however halfway through eating the chicken biryani there was a piece of what looked like either steel wool or tin foil in the food. Small mom and pop restaurant that welcomes you with open arms as soon as you walk in even if you were the only non-Middle Eastern customers there. I love gauging how authentic a place is based on the fact that the place was occupied by mostly Pakistanis. The rice platters are HUGE and can easily be split between 2 people. I ordered the Chicken Biryani and made it spicy which I was so happy that I did as it added that extra amount of sauciness to it. The restaurant also has sugar cane drinks but unfortunately were out of it by the time that we had arrived for our late dinner. My only complaint is that they charge you for bottled water and don't really tell you that ahead of time. read more

This is a very hole-in-the-wall establishment, and a pretty spacious one, I have to say. While I was not here during a business time, I can imagine this place being fit for large gatherings and parties, simply because of the size of the place. This place also screams Pakistani (Indian atmosphere, with Islamic motifs). The only thing about this place is that there were a lot of flies. I don't mind run-down places as long as it's new and kept clean. And if it's an old building, I'll overlook maybe one fly. But when I was there, there was a good number. :( But this was during the day when it was hot outside, so it might be a different story during the winter. But if the flies wanting to be close to my food is trying to tell me anything, then I would have to agree - it's delicious! I've never been to a Pakistani barbecue place (partly because there's usually more Indian places around and they would not even dare to serve barbecued beef). The samosas, two pieces for $4, were really big, and good. But it was the meats that took the show, as well as the savory garlic naan ($2.99). Chicken boti (5 cubed pieces of chicken, $6.99), beef seekh kabab (2 pc, like more like kafta than kabob, $3.49), and chicken biryani (w/ bone, $5.99) were all excellent, in relatively large portions, and a great value. Be sure to ask for yogurt to mellow out the spice, if any are spicy - but I did not find any one dish to be overly spicy, much to my pleasant surprise. Overall, I would not mind returning, with a group. But hopefully this place is able to resolve the issue of the flies, in case someone in the group minds. Drove to this center to try coffee at a new spot that recently opened. Line was out the door. Decided instead to grab lunch. I feel like this restaurant is misnamed. It doesn't let you know that inside you will find all types of Middle Eastern street foods! We had the Beef Shawarma wrap and it was outstanding! Nicely seasoned, popped in a press just before serving for a crispy outside shell. Also tried the Lamb Kebob wrap, another home run! The wait was only around 10-15 minutes, which gave us an opportunity to walk across the street for boba. Not only was the cashier super friendly, but he helped us make our order and brought it out to us as well. We found out that they are changing locations! They're moving to Jupiter Rd. in Garland - which is perfect because that's literally 5 minutes from where I live! The portions are huge - especially the biryani! It came in a PACKED styrofoam take out container and we literally had leftovers for like 3 days. The flavors are great - the only downside was the amount of oil in our chicken tikka masala. The restaurant's ambience just feels like a warm and casual dining area, the workers were all friendly the time we went and the decor is modest. It's perfect for those times when you want to eat out but don't want to dress up, and take out is always a great option. The price is very reasonable (especially considering the amount of food they give you) and our whole order came out to be around $30. If you have a big family or are having a get together with friends then I think this place is great for the portions they give you. This place is great with lot of food variety and awesome quality and quantity of food. Their new facility is quite bigger than before but it needs a little tweak in setting the tables. Best PAANS in DWF are made by the very friendly and warm older gentleman at the counter. Once again it need a little work in their restrooms, as they need to be a little updated. I just can't justify how much money people spend on halls and the restrooms are completely neglected where almost 80% of the guests go to use before or after the meal. We told our host this was our first time here and he replied expressionlessly "ok" and walked off without ever making eye contact with any of us... We had asked for water and were served 8 oz. Plastic bottles of water. No ice. No glass. No explaination. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant before. We were not offered menus, so took it as a sign it was Buffett only. I got one of those too, if I wanted that id have done it at home). They have many delicious dishes, and the customer service is superb. We ordered delivery yesterday, though, so we didn't get to enjoy their hospitality, and we missed it. However, the delivery driver handled the contact-less delivery perfect, through GrubHub. I was unaware that the option of naan or rice, fornerly included in the dish, will now required a separate charge. We used to have the option of one or the other with each main dish. Be sure to order rice and naan, as need be for you dishes. I do wish, on the menu, that it states neither rice or naan are included with the main dish. No biggie. I just made home-rice to have with dinner, but it would have been nice to know that the starch was no longer included. It is sold a la carte, and be sure to order it that way. I did order 1 garlic bread to go with the yogurt dip. They were perfect. Things not so great include adjusting the heat-level (Scoville units) by dish. The restaurant requests your spice level choice. I also ask for no spice, no added peppers, no hot sauce. Yet, we still received dishes that are 4/5 on heat level. Some dishes are inedible, because the heat intensity blocks our ability to taste independent flavors. I wonder if it is possible to pre-make recipes, as mild, and then add spicy peppers to the orders of those who want them? I may be asking too much. Or is it that the base recipe must be so high on the Scoville scale? It seems profitable to make highly-seasoned food, that people love, without the experience needing to be overtaken by burning eyes, mouth, tongue, and nose. Bottles of that kind of torture are readily available for those masochists. Please consider giving us, the true lovers of Indian herbs, spices, and cooking style a chance. Please don't run us off by making your base recipe 3X spicier than most of us can tolerate. Thank you ! Herbs, flavors, awesome cooking are all good.
