    Perfect.

This is an easy 5. I can't get this in California. I can't make it any better. Actually, I don't do smoked wings very well, so Pecan Lodge has me beat. The wings were as good as can be. Subtle & distinct rub. Very crisp but juicy. Nice smoke. 4 excellent sauces if you want them. The Dino beef rib was perfect. Salt & pepper infused. Moist with right texture, not fall off the bone, some gentle pull, but bendy...which is the best way in my opinion . Likewise for the brisket! The sides were perfect, the crisp slaw was tangy & not drowning in sauce. The potato salad was infused with scallions. Also right amount of dressing. Well seasoned. The biggest compliment: you really need no sauces for the meat. Thats what great BBQ should be. Maybe small dabs intermittently. Mind you, the sauces are awesome, but I preferred vinegar for beef & blue cheese for wings. Again: sparingly, letting the meat shine. If I have to critique a 5 star: maybe have a heat lamp. Because even the best brisket can get dry if you linger. Out of 4 big pieces, half a piece got a bit dry, but the rest stayed succulent. Ha ha. Nice staff. Nice guests during the football World Cup. You order & get from counter. $135 for 1.5 lbs beef ribs, 0.5lbs brisket, 12 wings, pint slaw, pint potato salad, & soft drink. My son & me splurged, very happy happy.

So when you look up best bbq. This comes up. We love Terry Blacks. We are not Texas natives. But the reviews did not disappoint!!! Beef ribs were sold out. We got pork ribs brisket, jalapeño sausage. Meat was fall off the bone. I mean so tender it falls apart on touch. Use your fingers to grab because it's slippery. You don't need sauce!! Collards ----- wow Okra good but I'm biased-- my mom makes fierce okra Bartender Emily amazing!! Blackberry mango margarita was on point

You walk in and order at the front. All drinks are picked up at the bar and food comes pretty fast to the window. Seating is open and they have tables outside. Hand crated cherry limeade was good, more cheery than lime, but good! Pork sandwich and Mac-n-cheese was so good with bacon on Top! The only downside, they only have spicy bbq sauce. Sandwich did t need it, but would have been nice. Food was delicious and staff were friendly! Lots of tvs to watch games around d the whole place.

Things change. People change. Tables turn. Bridges burn. Ya live & ya learned: I learned this is my fav Q spot in DFW area. I love Q, i grew up cooking on charcoal Websters, & old wood smokers filled with oak food off the coast & in the riparian hills of the Pacific. Chicken, tri tip, etc.. But THIS. IMO. PECAN LODGE IS THEE DEFINITION OF TEXAS Q. All the meat was not too rich, hardy, moist, fall apart, smoke rings & surprisingly i was astounded by the pork rib quality the most. Surprisingly not as salty as i thought especially since ima salty person. Lol Enjoy!

I've been to Pecan Lodge multiple times, and it's definitely one of the most famous BBQ spots in Dallas. Deep Ellum is also a fun area to explore, so it makes for a nice stop if you're visiting. I really enjoy their brisket and ribs, and the sides are pretty decent as well. It's not the cheapest BBQ, and I do wish the portions were a little more generous, but the flavor is solid. If you're visiting, I'd recommend showing up early. Like many famous BBQ places, the popular items can sell out pretty quickly. Parking tip: try using the parking lot under I-45 nearby.

Brisket was okay and sausage was delicious

Yes it's good BBQ but there are higher standards in Texas and this doesn't blow you away in the same way some of the greats in this State do. I came on a Tuesday night and it was pretty empty. I was alone so I got just the brisket, the jalapeno cheddar sausage, the jalapeno hominy, collard greens, and the banana pudding. The brisket was fine. Some bites were tender, juicy, nice salty balance, and other bites were dry and lacked flavor. Overall inconsistent. The sausage was pretty good as the cheese wasn't overly rich and had a nice spice to it. The collard greens were a little on the sweet side which I didn't love. The jalapeno hominy were delicious as the slight cheddar flavor with a little heat was a pleasant contrast for something that can be pretty bland by itself. The banana pudding was delicious. Not overly sweet, creamy and rich but not so heavy after a heavy main course. I like the vibe but it's fun when a BBQ place carves the slices in front of you. The service is fine. It overall looks like a fun place to go and given how they have live music, etc. it's clear that's what they're going for. But I prefer a place that's focused on its craft over vibe.

Fantastic BBQ place and great service. Come here before the lines get long. Arrived at 10:30 on a Friday so not bad for the lines. Family oriented and great time to spend with friends. There's TVs to watch the games.

Mac and cheese, pork sausage, peach cobbler, burnet ends in the middle.

This place definitely has a good reputation, but my experience ended up being pretty middle of the road. The interior is extremely casual (almost "busted" in a sense). It feels like it's trying to lean into a rustic barbecue aesthetic, but it ends up coming across more cheap and old than intentionally charming. It's not quite the atmosphere I expected given how popular the place is. The food was a mixed bag. The burnt ends were okay, but honestly nothing special. They were fine, just not the standout I was expecting. The pork sausage was actually pretty good flavor-wise, but the casing was really tough. I had to bite down pretty hard to get through it, which was not the most pleasant experience. The mac and cheese had a tiny bit of spice to it, which I liked, but the texture was more mealy than creamy. For dessert I had the peach cobbler. It was decent, but leaned a little too granola heavy for my taste and did not quite bake together the way I expected. I was hoping for something more cohesive and gooey. Overall, it wasn't a terrible meal, but it also wasn't good... This place didn't live up to the hype at all.

Good classic BBQ. Would go again but was surprised that the reviews are as high as they are. Did not think it stuck out much compared to other BBQ places I've been Good if you just want classic BBQ. Staff was very nice and atmosphere was good.

True Texas BBQ! We were lucky to get in before the line grew outside the door. They were super fast and we got our food super quick. Be ready to order when you get to the register! Drinks were great here too. Our favorite was the giant beef rib. It was so tender and flavorful. We could barely finish everything! All the sides were great too. Would definitely go back.

Pork ribs , collards and Mac n cheese

Really enjoyed the food . Meats were cooked so well. Brisket was my fav. Mac n cheese and potato salad was really good . Collards were sweet I did not care for them.

    THREE MEAT PLATE
    Marie G.

Ordered take out and wow - it lives up to the hype. The turkey was thickly sliced. The sausage was a full piece and the pork rib was large. All were tasty and all did not taste the same- sometimes you get a three meat platter and all the meat has the same sauce on it that was not the case here each meat at its own individual flavor. The other thing I liked about the food here is that the smoke taste is not overwhelming. I have had barbecue from many places across Texas and sometimes I can't eat it because the smoke smell is so strong that I am totally turned off and don't want to eat the food. Here. It was so so mild. it was perfect.

For everyone who hates waiting in lines: I went around 2pm on a Friday and was pleasantly surprised to find that there were a lot of available seats and only four people in line ahead of me! Tables were clean and loved that a staff member was on the floor to answer any questions. I got the three meat combo, so: the jalapeno and cheddar sausage was so flavorful and the collard greens were incredible. Hands down my favorite thing on my plate. Burnt ends and brisket were tender and juicy, but I think I prefer a less smoky flavor.

Very fatty meat.....every piece was like this...gross

Back open. Limited inside and patio open also.

    Can we Dine In?

The moment we walked in, it felt like home, but not in the "kick off your shoes" way. No, this was the "you're safe here, baby" kind of home. The vibe? Cozy. Elevated. Like Restoration Hardware met someone emotionally stable. Elliott was our server and an absolute delight. Joseph was the manager, casually spreading joy like Oprah with a tray of Bloody Mary shots. Amber... now let me pause here, because this woman deserves a paragraph of her own. Amber isn't just a GM. She's the kind of soul you meet once and never forget. When I asked for her to come to our table just to pay her a compliment, we both practically teared up. She received it with open arms, no ego, no deflection, just pure, gracious presence. I was mid-sentence and suddenly I had that Creed song stuck in my head. You know the one. "With arms wide open..." That's the kind of energy she brought to the entire restaurant. Amber made every person in that room feel like they mattered. Not because it's her job, but because it's who she is. She's fresh off earning her master's in hospitality, and if that degree came with a crown, she's wearing it. The Porch doesn't just run smoothly. It runs on Amber energy. But let's talk about the moment I saw God. Cornbread Eggs Benedict: Not crab. Not salmon. Corn. Bread. And not just any cornbread. The softest, fluffiest, most cuttable cloud of golden glory I've ever had the pleasure of annihilating with a fork. A fork, not a steak knife. Do you understand how rare that is? Normally I'm out here sawing through an English muffin like I'm in a lumberjack competition. This? Melted like butter. Tasted like a hug. 12/10. Incredible. And then, as if the eggs benny enlightenment wasn't enough, Joseph reappears with a tray of free Bloody Mary shots for the entire restaurant. With olives. For everyone. The joy? Immediate. The energy? Electric. The crowd? Unified. I watched a grandmother at the next table raise her glass like the queen she is. I nearly cried. This wasn't service. This was a masterclass in human connection. Restaurants can be transactional. Robotic. This was the opposite. This was care, intention, soul. My high school principal once said: "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit of extra." The Porch brought extra, bagged it, garnished it, and served it on a tray. Final thought: If you're not brunching here, I'm concerned. If you are? I'll raise my Bloody Mary shot to you. And Amber, if you ever run for mayor, you've already got my vote. I'll run your campaign and show up in a custom t-shirt.

At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

The rustic decor and music are top-notch, it feels elevated. Parking is in the garage downstairs and a short elevator ride up helps you avoid the inclement weather outside. Verdict: fantastic!

We also appreciated the manager acknowledging the long wait and missing food and drinks by sending over complimentary dessert. Unfortunately, our experience with Taylor was disappointing. She spent the majority of the night standing against the wall and came across as rude and passive-aggressive, especially as we were preparing to leave. This was a noticeable contrast to Ozzy and Terrance's hospitality. The "Cowgirl Dinner" was enjoyable, but the service issues were disappointing, especially as returning guests. Overall, we appreciate the team members who made an effort and hope management addresses the concerns regarding Taylor's attitude.

Over the years, They have added grilled items that are quite tasty, but Ima go for the fried anything along with mashies, baked beans, etc. The chicken and dumplings are heaven on earth anytime of the year. Prices are decent, considering the economy these days. If you dine in, there's staff that are happy to help you get your grub to the table, will make sure you have butter and honey for the fluffy buns, and smile no matter how busy it gets. Leaving a buck or 2 is not expected, but a nice gesture for their efforts. Blanca sez check'em out!

Today, I had a doctor's appointment nearby and looked forward to a return visit. Unfortunately my food was disappointing. I ordered 3 eggs, cinnamon roll and coffee. The best part of the meal was the coffee which was tasty and fresh. The eggs were good. Nothing special but hot and tasty. However, the cinnamon roll - which is the reason I came here - was tasteless and very stale. I won't be back. I can get coffee and average eggs anywhere. If they are serving stale pastries, the place is no longer special.
