For ~$50, you can get a 3-course Peking duck dinner (sliced duck with crispy skin, duck bone soup, and stir-fried duck with vegetables), along with an extra platter of salt and pepper shrimp, which is an extremely great deal compared to pretty much all other restaurants in the Chicagoland area that offer Peking duck. Overall, the duck skin was crispy and there were generous portions of meat included in the stir-fry course, but that meant less meat for the actual sliced Peking duck - which was kind of a bummer. There were also generous portions of green onion/scallion and sauce for the Peking duck, which was nice because other places (aka Sun Wah) skimp out on this and charge you extra if you want more green onion. However, I didn't really like how there was sliced pieces of bao for the Peking duck - they should at least give full baos, or at least provide the traditional Peking duck thin pancake wrappers. I would say that this is the best Peking duck option in Chinatown and the best in the Chicagoland area considering the price/value, even if it's not the most traditional Peking duck (aka with duck carved table side and the skin and meat sliced separately). Extremely rude customer service. Avoid at all costs. They made fun of me in Mandarin for not knowing perfect Mandarin. I was born in the United States, and I know a dialect of Chinese - just not mandarin. They said dine in was open, but when we sat down to eat, they kicked us out. Duck was extremely dry and cold. Had no flavor to it at all. Skin was super soggy. Probably resulted from having no customers the entire day. Ended up throwing the duck out and not even eating it. Also got a box of Chinese broccoli. The Chinese broccoli was way too oily. Would have preferred it just steamed and flavorless than with that much oil. Failing health score as well. Please do yourself a favor and do not come here, unless you like refrigerator temperature duck and your vegetables drenched in disgusting oil. read more

Wow!! As a kid, all Chinese roast pork was the same. What's to not like about pork belly? With a generic name, it was easy to skip amidst the "more authentic" Chinese-named restaurants. As an adult, Yelp 3.5* Chinese restaurants are dime a dozen, even with the flood of new mainland money restaurants. I've never had an inkling to write home about roast pork until now. However, this is my sleeper pick of the year. Bbq King House siu yuk is at a whole other level, compared to other restaurants in Chicago, LA and SF, and even Hong Kong (although HK is basically a tie). The pork is melt in your mouth juicy, with just the right amount of seasoning so that you still taste pork and not overly salty, and the skin is crispy, crackly, and potato-chip thin. Also, gotta point out that they respect the packaging and hand-cut vent holes to prevent sogginess from the heat causing interior steam. Don't miss it. read more

We got a half roast duck (which is cut up for you and very convenient - it does still have bone but that's half the fun), bbq pork fried rice, bbq pork, and bbq chicken wings. They have high chairs but at least two of them had broken buckles. Didn't matter though because there was one that worked and our baby turned out to be OBSESSED with roast duck. Like woah. Some of the dishes weren't hot (they're displayed ready to be served and I guess not reheated), but the meat is succulent and we all enjoyed having some afternoon bbq. I would love to come back again here for the tasty delish food but not the service. First time in my life I was told to how many percentage of tip to give by the server. She was also not professional about it and have to call us out on our way and literally yell at the resto and evryone can hear that it should be 15 percent. it was very unprofessional of her. I'm not so upset that it was canceled but that the restaurant should've reached out to me instead of me having to get an email 20 minutes later about it. I had the same thing happen on another order.
