This place serves solid Cantonese Chinese food. I'd definitely recommend trying the seafood dishes, French Style Beef, and the Egg Tofu. I especially enjoyed the Razor Clams and Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp. The restaurant is small and can get pretty busy, so this is more of a place to come, eat, and go rather than linger and chat. There aren't a lot of tables, so you may feel a little rushed if you're looking to hang out for a while. The menu can be a little overwhelming if it's your first time, so it helps to have an idea of what you want to order. The good news is that ordering is easy and convenient on the iPad. I'd recommend coming with a smaller group. If you have a party of 8 or more, I'd definitely make a reservation ahead of time. read more

First time at this eatery in Chinatown and it was amazing. We showed up an hour before closing and to be fair I think the restaurant crew, which included the owner, Wendy, was getting ready to close up and start cleaning up. Well, we came in and ordered a feast, we ordered at least 10 entrees and while I won't mention all of them, there were some outstanding selections including soft shell crab, stir-fried in a garlic panko crust with green onions and jalapenos, beef short ribs, salt and pepper pork chops, shrimp battered in this salty egg yolk concoction.. WOW, I had never tried anything like that before. Salt and pepper fish fillet, vegetable chow mein and a few others and it was just out of this world! The food was all fresh, and the cooks brought it out as soon as it came off the fire. The owner, Wendy, checked on us constantly and made fun conversation and told us a bit of history about her and the eatery which made us respect and love it even more. I've heard all kinds of crazy negative stories about customer service and waiters just being distant and cold with their guests at these different Chinese eateries here in Chinatown, but Go 4 Food is truely the exception. We felt like honored guests at this eatery and that they were humbled to have us! They saw to it everything we needed was provided and made this gourmet experience a lovely one. We only came because of $16 lobster special and it just felt weird getting one dish. Ginger & scallion style no extra charge. Salted egg yolk would have been an additional $6! Lobster Crab Rangoon (4 pieces) - $8 not enough filling French beef tenderloin- $20 tasty dish but not for the price worth when it wasn't even a full plate Razor clams - $17 I thought these were amazing and price value was appropriate even came with some glass noodles. It was a hit for my toddler. Pretty good food! When we came on Friday for lunch, we were seated immediately. I will say that there are only 10-ish tables in the restaurant so if you have a big group, you'll want to call for their private dining room. We ordered on an iPad and the food came out in probably 10 minutes! My favorites were the fish fillet with vegetables and razor clams. I dined at Go 4 Food on Friday, May 9, 2025 at around 2 pm. Go 4 Food is the place TO GO FOR some delicious Szechuan and Chinese homey foods to share with family and friends. Although the restaurant may look small and unassuming from the outside, don't underestimate the quality of the food that comes out of their kitchen. The beef chow fun, one of my all time favorite stir-fried noodle dishes, was one of the best I had because it tasted like it married the wok it was cooked in because it had that wok-hei flavor. The beef was cooked very well and it was overall a nice comfort dish that eats well with other shareable dishes. The crispy silver fish tasted light and salty, but were not as crispy as I would've liked them to be. The string beans were very flavorful and the pork added a nice salty element to the veg. The Manila clams with black bean sauce were amazing! Clams were large and plump and the black bean sauce was rich. Don't expect stellar service because it's a pretty casual establishment. I'm so excited to write this review because I'm so glad I found this restaurant! I took a rideshare because parking is always difficult to acquire in Chinatown. The restaurant is pretty small but I believe there is a downstairs for larger parties. The dining room is brightly lit and it smells AMAZING in this restaurant. Really, you can smell the greatness coming from their kitchen as soon as you arrive outside of the restaurant! They are BYOB so we had Prosecco to go with the seafood we planned to order. For appetizers we had, Crab Rangoon, Pot Stickers, both jumbo steamed oysters, and the giant clam. We enjoyed everything but disliked the Pot stickers because they were simply too big and breaded. For dinner, we ordered the Salt and Pepper shrimp, and an entire lobster! The Salt and Pepper shrimp was the best I've ever had. Perfect amount of salt and crispiness. We kind of customized our lobster by just getting butter, garlic, and scallions. We wanted to be able to taste the freshness and sweetness of the lobster meat. Don't forget the chili oil! Phenomenal meal. This was the most reasonably priced dinner I've ever had that contained lobster! Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was amazing! Go 4 Food in Chinatown has a large menu and a reputation for creative dishes, but our experience was mixed. The service was just okay. Communication was a challenge since very little English was spoken, and the descriptions of the dishes were lacking. I don't enjoy gambling on menu titles that sound good but end up being something completely different from what you expect. Some of the more familiar dishes were solid. The Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef were both pretty good and tasted like what you'd expect from most Chinese restaurants. Other dishes were much harder to understand, even after asking questions about how they were prepared or whether they were sweet or savory. We ordered the Sauteed Chicken in Hot Spicy Sauce Rice, which turned out to be very heavy on Sichuan peppercorns with a strong floral aftertaste. The chicken sat on a bed of what looked and tasted like deep-fried kale, and despite the word "rice" in the name, there was no rice in the dish at all. That's one item we won't be ordering again. We also tried the Fish Filet with Hot and Sour Lime Sauce. It was basically a sweet-and-sour style fish dish. It wasn't bad, but it leaned much sweeter than expected. Another thing to note: none of the dishes come with white rice--it's completely à la carte. We only found that out after ordering. With prices being what they are these days, it would be nice if they included at least some white rice like most Chinese restaurants do. Overall, the food wasn't terrible, but the lack of clear descriptions and communication made the experience frustrating. Everything at this restaurant is truly cooked to perfection and they nailed every dish! You can really tell that the kitchen cares about the quality of their ingredients, and know how to season the food so that the best flavor profile is brought out in the meats. We got the tea roasted duck which fell off the bone, egg yolk shrimp, crab rangoons with real seafood, and vegetable fried rice. The rice was exceptional and was some of the best fried rice I've ever tried, it was cooked perfectly. I wish I could give five stars, but the kitchen forgot to make our order of rice and it took an extra 45 minutes to receive it after we ate our main dishes. I have never had such large and tasty oysters--PLEASE ORDER the OYSTERS! But why not five stars? Very good spot. I believe the prices in person are cheaper than the ones you see online. We did not get the chance to try their soft shell crab since they were sold out but every item that we did get were wonderful! The fish with veggies reminds me of an item my grandma used to enjoy. The crab Rangoon was amazing. My boyfriend who does not like crab Rangoon loved this one since it is packed with actual crab meat! The fried salt and pepper tofu was wonderful as well. Their potstickers are cooked well and pairs well with the soy sauce. It is a smaller spot with not a lot of tables so try to come early or be okay with waiting for a table. Lunch specials are just a smaller size and does not include usual standards when you say "lunch special"; which is fine, but should be commicated. Surprisingly none of the entrees came with white rice. The salty dishes were hard to eat without rice. When we asked for clarification the staff became defensive. My old review was I think for the other location in Bridgeport which is now closed. This location in Chinatown is much better. Had shrimp fried rice, Mongolia beef, walnut shrimp, French style beef tenderloins. Crab Rangoon and pan fried noodles. Crab Rangoon slightly over fried. Didn't expect pan fried noodles to be crunchy like crackers but pleasantly surprised that they paired nicely with Mongolian beef. I know some people eat Chinese food with crackers and if you do try these instead. Better than crackers imo. Beef dishes are really good. Walnut shrimp were jumbo which is a plus but overall ok. Sauce tasted a little pasty. Staff is really nice. Small quaint place. Chinese food takeout of late has not been great in these streets. That's $4.33 a clam--were they hand-massaged by monks?
