As others have stated, I would put this place at 3.5 stars but will round up. The place is on the pricey side for what you're getting. I ordered the BBQ brisket. It was sliced super thin (think deli meat) and was on the dryer side. The star of the show went to the cornbread.... Wow that was good! My wife ordered the pulled pork and she loved it. The restaurant was super clean. They offer complimentary soft serve ice cream and different syrups to make unique drinks. Very unique and a cool idea.

Great BBQ, service was quick, and everything was tender and flavorful. I really liked their sauce bar and free unlimited ice cream bar. I didn't see on their menu where you could just get brisket, or chicken or a specific meat, but it may have been there and I missed it. We got the three meat meals with the sides of Mac and cheese, baked potato salad, and baked beans. The Mac and cheese was a must have, the baked potato salad was better then average but tbh I make better potato salad at home, the baked beans were meh, I could have missed them and not been disappointed.

I'm not gonna lie, I miss the ladder with the honey drop from the OG BBQ Pete's on Portland and 72nd. It was such a mesmerizing experience as a kid. That being said, the food is good. It is a bit pricey. $4.59 for a cornbread muffin. Don't get me wrong, the muffin makes me happy and is tasty. But it's a bit much, I should really just up my game and develop the skills to make my own delicious little cornbread muffin lovelies. The atmosphere is laid back with the sauce bar and pickles. This lactose unfriendly girlie did not partake in the free soft serve, but the wee humans would be all over that and so would the lactose friendly adults. Overall, I might go back, it's decent just a bit pricey to me.

    Burnt end pieces received.

I've been here a few times and have generally thought it was okay. Definitely not Texas quality but still good. However I ordered my husband burnt ends Togo for dinner, got home and this is what we unpacked... 5 pieces!! We've ordered this before and it was a standard amount so this was really surprising and disappointing.. for $30 this wasn't okay at all. And seeing as though it was the end of the night I'd understand if we were told they were running low, but we specifically asked if they still had some for a full order and they said yes.

Such a fun little find. We had just flown in and on the way to Joint base louis Mchord. we wanted a quick dinner. I ordered the ribs with beans and coleslaw. The service was super quick and awesome. The ribs were fall of the bone tender with a sauce that had a hint of cinnamon. The beans were so good. Almost chili and definitely something I will always rave about. The coleslaw was always crisp, slightly sweet and tangy. I took off a point for the super peppery ranch. Wasn't a fan, nor was anyone else. Everyone else raved about their food. One thing the kids loved was the free soft serve ice-cream!

$5.49 side of fries, filled half way, to the line

I'll start with pricing. $23.58 for a sandwich and fries with added slaw topper. Prices have increased everywhere, this seems a bit pricey still though. Fries were good, fresh and seasoned well. The variety of sauces you can dispense yourself is good as well. I ordered the brisket sandwich. Just not impressed at all unfortunately. It has enough meat, the bun was soft. The flavor was not that good to me. This is my third visit and I've just felt their food is ok. Service was ok. Overall nothing stands out about this place except their prices. Note: sides are $5.49, see pic of fries, urge bag was about 1/2 full. This includes a cornbread muffin or side of coleslaw. They have complimentary ice cream but if your not paying attention you may miss it as no one mentions this. I ordered takeout once and dine in once before and only found out about the ice cream from another customer.

The interior photos on Yelp don't do the space justice. It's actually pretty cute inside, especially when it was decorated top to bottom for the holidays! I love the sauce bar, the complimentary ice cream, the window seating, and the wide hand-washing station to clean yourself off after a messy meal. It's always a little strange when the dining area is well-themed but the brightly-lit stainless steel kitchen is exposed and visible. The menu seems to be about twice as large as it needs to be, since many items seemed very similar. We got the Smokestack and the Sandwich With No Name and while they were both delicious, the difference between them was subtle. When you buy a sandwich, you can choose two sides to go along with it. One of my sides was wrong, but they were gracious about fixing the order for me. It's an order-at-the-counter joint, but it's priced closer to a tableside service restaurant. A dollar or two off the meal pricing would be a bit fairer. I can imagine this place is great for parties, but the long communal tables make it a harder sell for a couple's meal.

Came here on a whim. Pleased I did. Fantastic food. Ribs delicious. Sides delicious. Service friendly and fast.

Found this staple in my food. Got lodged in my teeth. It was in the BBQ pork.

The other dish I order if I'm eating at the restaurant is R9. Fish tamarind sour soup and Caramelized braised fish with rice. This is a staple I had when I was younger and ate out at Vietnamese restaurants. The food here is truly authentic Vietnamese! The prices for some of the dishes are also very reasonable for Tacoma. A banh mi (Vietnamese baguette) only costs $9. In addition, there's free and easy parking in front of the restaurant, happy hours from 2-6 pm Monday through Friday, and catering! I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, and I really appreciated that they were able to make substitutions since I don't eat pork blood. I also mentioned multiple times that I didn't want cilantro, but when my soup came out, it was covered in cilantro. They took it back and picked most of it out, but there was still quite a bit at the bottom of the soup. I really don't like cilantro, so I tried my best to eat around it. Despite that, the broth was AMAZING. It had the perfect spicy kick and so much flavor. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the crab balls tasted like they were made with real crab. They also gave me a generous amount of meat, which I loved! The fresh coconut was also so good! Since we're in Washington, we probably won't get the freshest coconut like you would somewhere tropical, but it definitely did the job. Overall, the food itself was really good, but I wish they had been more careful about the cilantro since I specifically mentioned it several times.

Well that day has come. We ended up staying at a hotel nearby for a friend's wedding. We were getting hungry and I luckily checked Yelp and saw that I bookmarked this place when it showed up on my nearby food list. What a crazy coincidence. So we drive over and park on a side street. There was a small line outside and we waited patiently for a few minutes. Once inside, we were seated at the counter and it was packed, a little hot and everything smelled delicious. My friend and I both ordered the duck and pork noodle soup and it was maybe the best noodle soup I've ever had. The pork had crispy skin, the duck was soft and flavorful. It was all just so delicious. The iced coffee was strong and sweet. We also got the dessert. Make sure to add durian if they ask. It made it 1000x better if that's even possible. I also asked for more napkins, he brought one. The ventilation in this restaurant is horrendous, the smoke and heat from the grill were unpleasant for anyone sitting near the wall. I had to move seats after I was done cooking, because the heat was making me sweat profusely. A female employee came by and asked if we needed anything, and I asked for napkins (to wipe the sweat off my face). She looked at me as if I was asking for a slice of pizza. I asked her if there was a problem, because of the look she gave me. She responded, "no." I got the feeling as though she didn't want to give us napkins for some reason. Again, the food was good, but the service was terrible.
