Great food and service! If my Korean mom likes it then it's authentic enough to try some for yourself

7/12/26- NEVER AGAIN! Pretty disappointing. Will never come back. Amazed this place is still in business with how rude the staff are. We used to come here often. I am always kind to people who are serving, and can understand how hard their job is. But this place needs to get really checked out for the way they are treating customers, especially return loyal ones. I have actually never had an experience like this from the waitress, but there was one that even my friends noticed was very rude and looked angry for working there tonight. It was embarrassing cause they had never had Korean food, but they also kept noticing how rude the lady was. I didn't even feel comfy eventually asking for more meat or even water. Normally I have ordered up to 4 or 5 portions, but after our second small order of meat, we just left. Embarassing! What a waste of time of mediocre food and you just lost someone who always told people about y'all smh. Go to palace!! read more

Food: 5/5- generous portions & options of meat and banchan Service: 5/5- Feels like we're in Mother Korea. All the aunties are kind, nurturing and anticipate your needs before even asking. And even if you do ask for something not on the menu, the request is received with a mature attitude. Ambiance: Sure it's not the prettiest looking place... floor tiles are cracking but it's been clean to include the bathroom in every visit we've had Based on what I read, I can see that this place has been receiving a negative reputation but that has not been my experience in my last 3 visits within the past 2 months. read more

Gangnam bbq is possibly the worst food establishment I have visited this year. Firstly, the opening hours listed online and on Yelp are wrong. I came with a group of friends around 8:30pm and was told we had to leave after 1 hour - not explicit in telling us they were planning to close. Once seated, our grill was malfunctioning. It took 2 different members of staff over 5mins to get it running. The food itself was nothing to write home about, but also not the worst Korean bbq I've had. However, the service was simply horrendous. For the whole time we were there, we were made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome and our patronage unwanted. When placing our orders, staff would: roll their eyes, walk away as we are verbally ordering, would not acknowledge our requests (so we didn't know if they heard it or not) and denied us items from the menu. From the moment we sat down, we were told the kitchen was closed so no steamed eggs and there was no lettuce left for us to have with our meat. We were not asked for any final orders before being denied refills despite having time left from what we were told on entry. The cherry on top was extra tip charged on the bill. Their menu explicitly states 15% for parties of 5+ but they put 18% on our bill. I definitely won't be coming back and would recommend others to avoid this place. No food is good enough to out weigh the terrible service we received. read more

It's a great all you can eat Korean bbq. You cook the food to the desired temperature. The waiters are pretty responsive...you may need to flag them down to get more rice or refills on drinks. The condition of the restaurant could use an upgrade as it looks worn down and the floors has tiles missing. My friends love coming here and I would recommend if you like Korean bbq! read more

Side dishes weren't flavorful and the main dish wasn't worth to come to even at $30 per person. Waitresses wasn't attentative at our table to check if we need water or more food. We managed to order more food but didn't get a chance to get more water until toward the end. We went on a Sunday night and it's quite busy. We didn't have to wait for long. I did like they treated us when we were there. Take them long time to come to our table getting our order. At that time only two table included us, and they did not come check if we need water.and when we called them, they pretended they did hear us. There were 4 adults and two kids, they charged us 270 dollars included 41 dollars tipped that they added it already. We did not get much food. Every time, we ordered something, they took off before we finished out order. That's bad experience there., honestly they kind racist toward us as we did speak Korean like them. This place has good food for a good price however the workers stand over your shoulder and watch you as if you're gonna steal the food. also, I paid for my food and as I was sitting there, the lady came back, handed me my receipt and told me that they don't have a service charge and that I needed to tip more. I looked at her and I asked "what did you just say," and she repeated the same thing that I needed to tip more b/c they don't service charge I just looked at her ate my food and left. Gangnam has been my families go to KBBQ spot, food and sides are good. Service is a hit or miss. I did go here yesterday, with a party of 6 but all separate tabs. From what I understand if it's a big party gratuity is automatically added. But yesterday, the lady who had checked us out literally wrote down the tip herself before handing me to sign ??? And then when she charged me twice (she thought it was just myself in one tab) I crossed out the tip area since she already tipped herself when she first charged me, tell me why she wrote over my cross and still added a tip ?? If party is more than 5 it's an automatic gratuity I know that but it was only 3 of us and the service wasn't even good the second we got there the lady just thre the plates with an attitude and then asked us Awhat drink u want!? I've been to a lot of Korean BBQ places and feel like this pretty much the worst. The shrimp were small and difficult to peel - Asian friends were eating them hole with the head but not my thing. We went to the restaurant with great expectations. Ordered 3 adult all you can eat. Started with pork belly, spicy squid and beef brisket, so they said. Two bowls of meat came out and visually distinguished pork belly in one of the bowl and the other one was filled with pile of beef fat. We started cooking the beef first and that's when one of us felt sickness because of the fat from beef. We will not go back because what was served was not for human consumption. Went for all you can eat bbq with my wife (Korean). We have been here before, the food is ok, but the service and cleanliness are always awful. The waitresses are so mean every time you ask for something. I sat with no water for 30 mins and when I ask for a refill they acted like I asked for their first born child. I don't know if they treat us badly because my wife is Korean or what, but these waitresses need to be fired or something. I spent 6 years in Korea and know Korean waiter/waitresses are not too friendly, but at least I felt welcome. Here I did not. read more

The servers can work on their attitude a little more instead of being sarcastic and speaking to you in a condescending way. Also, they shouldn't rush you to order meat and say it's last call when it's only 8:30pm. The only time they're nice to you is when you pay. read more

Food was good, but as a party of 6 we ordered the combo, and they only brought I plate of meat out and later came back and asked us if we needed more, we said yes, not knowing they'd charge us $25-$30 more for every type of meat ($25 for three chicken thighs!?) on top of the combo price; upcharged without telling us...ended up with $325 bill instead of if we got the all you can eat at $190 for us. Man, I really wanted to love this place, especially after reading the reviews about how tasty the food was and the quality of the meat. To my surprise, this place was no where near what I had expected. The all you can eat buffet is $19.99 but they don't serve all the meat that you'd find in other places, or even on their own menu. My all time favorite is kalbi ()... How is that NOT served as part of the buffet? SMH. That alone, made me want to walk out and drive down to Palace, but we decided to at least give the place a try. The meat is definitely seasoned differently. The bulgogi () didn't have enough flavor; it was super sugary... Sweet meat. Most times, I'd be okay with that but it lacked umph. The chicken tasted good but by the 3rd bite, I wanted to throw it away. You can't really go wrong with the beef or the pork; they aren't seasoned so the grill gives it the taste you want. The service was a bit slow and the important things were forgotten... And by imporatant, I mean they forgot to give us our rice. Lol. The ladies were friendly and came around a couple of times to take over the grill or bring us additional servings. The side dishes were extremely small. They literally put 3 small potatoes in a dish and called it a day. I'm not a fan of this place and probably won't be back but on a side note, if you are one of those people that are all about the ambiance, I would say the lobby is extremely cute and the set up is pretty standard to the places you'd find in Korea. Don't come with more than 4 people... As I looked around, there is only one grill per table regardless if you are eating for 2, 4, 6 or 8. read more

They had many varieties of meats which also included marinated meats!(Pork, Beef & Chicken) We ate till we could eat no more!!! I highly recommend this place! Everything was exactly as I expected!! I just relocated to Tacoma from Seattle for a few months, and I'm really excited to eat my way around town. One of my first orders of business was to locate some good Bibimbap. I saw the reviews on this place and thought I'd give it a go. First time's a charm. The food was excellent. The service was nice (although I'm rather minimal when it comes to waiting - I don't need someone waiting on me hand and foot while I eat). The waitress even recommended a decent Korean beer! We've been going to this place for years bec of good meat served to you and good exhaust system. However, service is just bad : servers don't smile and are rude. We didn't really give so much attention to that in our past visits, but today was different. As soon as the server with "bob cut" came and served the side dishes, she appeared so mad. She laid all the plates in front of us and while doing so , i asked if she can also give us salt and pepper. I wasn't done talking when she stopped me and didn't want me to request anything. I told her that she sounded so tired already, somehow telling her that I understand. She replied to me by saying, "of course, what do you think!" Which shocked us! She never came and checked on us after that initial encounter. She is so rude and a liability to this business. The owners should look into this. We will go back to Cham Garden and never to this place. read more

My friend's family owned Honey Pig (previous business) and that place was pretty good. Came here with my family on Christmas. Made reservations for 10 people a week in advance though. I requested two grills due to the number of people and the owner agreed. Customer service was top notch, meat quality above average. I can't remember our server's name but she was probably the best server I've ever seen at an AYCE KBBQ establishment. My mom would physically get up and bug our server for more banchan and whatever and most servers would get annoyed, but this female server handled the situation (my mom) professionally. I tipped her accordingly. There was a mix-up with the bill where we got charged for a different table, but that was resolved quickly by the owner. I recently visited Gangnam BBQ thinking it was Honey Pig, apparently it's a whole new operation now. Instead of ordering BBQ I decided to go with traditional Korean fare instead. I ordered Bi bim bop and my wife ordered dumpling soup. Let the record state that the food was utterly fantastic and all the little side dishes were great as well. My only gripe was that the service was a huge disappointment. Once we received our food our waitress was nowhere to be found. We were left with a table full of great food but a rapidly dwindling supply of beverage to wash the food down. The only time we were visited again was for the bill and before I could even ask for more water she was gone like a ghost in the night! Like I said, the food was great, the service, not so much. Grabbed some grub with the ladies and had the brisket and spicy pork, can't really go wrong with either. Spicy pork was seasoned well. Our server can back often to assist in the queing of the meat which was nice so we could focus on our convos more than worry about the meat overcooking. Pan chans were good and refilled as needed. All the usual fixings, lettuce, bean paste etc. They did offer a tasty soup which was nice as well. There are 3 Korean bbq places within a half mile distance on South Tacoma Way in Lakewood, WA. Gangnam is one of them. It was previously called Honey Pig. Their all-you-can-eat special is $3 more than Palace, which is probably why I don't eat here too often. I was given a restaurant.com gift card and put it to good use. Four of us ate like kings for only $50, including tax and tip. Their banchans (side dishes) need improvement. Service needs work as well. There was only 1 server for 7 tables. read more

Truly a breath of fresh air. The owner is very nice and personal too. And now their food. Absolutely love love love their food. Most Korean BBQs in town are either 20 per person (all you can eat) or $45 for 2...I have never been able to eat all the food presented to me...So Gangnam is a great opiton when I want just right portions. Service was attentive....The downfall of another palace in town. If your in Lakewood come check this place out. I was a fan of Honey Pig, and Gangnnam is better. read more
