We were over by Gig harbor at lunch time and decided to try BBQ2U for the first time. It's Texas Q and it's true TQ. The service was great, the place is not big and it's casual and clean. Great selection of bottled sodas along with fountain drinks. The meats selection and sides are the usual Q sides. The Boot which was what we got is good "BUT" all the meats and sides were lukewarm and not very hot at all. It would have been a 5-star rating if the meal had been hot and I watched them assemble the meals right out of the holding bins. So food not hot as it should be is a letdown for something I had high hope for. But the seasonings on the meat was good, the smoke flavor came through. The slaw was bland and the Mac and cheese not too great, kinda tased like Tuesday's warmed up. I might go back but I would not drive over the bridge just to go. read more

We stopped at BBQ2U while passing through Gig Harbor. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and easily the highlight of our visit. The food came out hot and was flavorful overall, but it fell a bit short where BBQ matters most: the sauce. There just weren't enough sauce options or enough sauce in general. When I think BBQ, the sauce is half the experience. We also tried the burnt ends, which ended up being much pepperier than expected and overpowered the meat. Overall, it's a solid place to try if you're traveling through the area, but it's not somewhere we'd make a point to return to. read more

Stopped in while we were in Gig Harbor for lunch on a Saturday, and we must have timed it perfectly. There weren't many people there when we arrived, but the restaurant filled up pretty quickly after we sat down. The staff was one of the highlights of our visit. Everyone was super friendly and patient while we looked over the menu. I especially appreciated the gentleman slicing the meat--he would cut a portion, show it to us, and ask if that looked good before finishing. It was a nice touch that made ordering by weight feel much easier, although the standard portions were already very generous. My husband had the chicken, we shared a jalapeño cheddar sausage, and I ordered the brisket. I was honestly surprised they still had brisket available because it was excellent. We both had the mac and cheese, shared the potato salad, and everything was really good. We also ordered the fried pickles, which were brought out to our table a little later. They were crispy and tasty, but I do think they'd really benefit from a dipping sauce. The restaurant itself was clean, casual, and easy to navigate with the self-serve drink station. I also grabbed a brownie because it looked amazing, but unfortunately that was the only disappointment of the meal. It was more like chocolate cake than a rich, fudgy brownie, so it didn't quite satisfy my sweet tooth. Overall, we'd definitely come back. The couple next to us ordered pulled pork sandwiches that looked incredible, so that's probably what I'll be trying next time. Keep your hats on for this review, my people! Here's the spice of life. We came here for dinner after spending the day on Vashon Island and weren't sure at first if we'd been to this BBQ place before. After parking and thinking back to around Covid, we remembered, yes, we had been here once before, and it was all "to go." So this time, we jumped at the chance to sit, relax, and enjoy. We ordered a pound of beef brisket and two orders of fried okra. The brisket was juicy, tender, and not too spicy. It comes dry with sauce on the side, and there are plenty of delicious sauces for your taste buds to enjoy. After receiving our brisket, my beloved and I wondered where our okra was. Watching everyone come and go, plus pickup orders, we thought it was taking a while because the okra is made fresh to order. Boy, were we wrong. After about 30 to 45 minutes of chatting and trying to figure out if it's made fresh, coated, then fried, or thawed and fried, we decided to ask. Luckily, we did because no one heard our order being called back to the kitchen. That was strange since the kitchen staff member who took our order had gone back to cooking. Maybe he thought it was dropped or the order had been made. No harm, no foul. After several eye-to-eye exchanges with staff and possibly the owner, he asked if we were waiting or needed something. We mentioned the two orders of okra. They apologized for not making the order, refunded us, and still made the okra. But wait, ladies and gentlemen, it gets even better! Not only did we get our okra, but I believe the owner also gave us smoked chicken, more brisket, sausage, beef ribs, and two delicious brownies. I know this is long, but I appreciate you sticking with me until the end. This was the perfect way to end our day! It was significant because it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary and 22 years together. We did not mention this to anyone until after everything had happened. If the owner reads this review, please know how much you blessed us with your transparency and effort to provide the best experience. The gentleman who gifted us the fantastic food and refunded our money for the okra, which he wasn't obligated to do, was incredibly kind and polite about the mistake. We truly appreciate his kindness, and he appreciated our patience and understanding. Overall, even without the extra attention, we will return because the restaurant is clean, the food stays fresh, and the service is excellent. I lived in Texas for 14 years and have been to all the great BBQ spots in Kansas City. Here in Washington we just don't have great BBQ......or so I thought!!! This place does a nice job of making Texas style BBQ! Had the brisket and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. Was given a free sample of the smoked pork butt (super tender and great smoke flavor) as well. Ordered a side of beans and they were really good too! Like a lot of Texas places you buy the meats by the pound and they do not offer combo plates. Really wish they did. I gave BBQ2U another try, and that one visit turned into many more. The meat is solid, though sometimes a little on the mild side, but the BBQ sauce more than makes up for it. It's fantastic--and they even bottle and sell it. Bring back an empty bottle, and you get half off your refill, which is a great deal. The fries are also excellent, always cooked fresh, and the staff here are incredibly friendly and personable. They take the time to chat and even remember you when you come back. I was pleasantly suprised with the BBQ here! Stumbled upon this place when I was looking for something to eat in the Gig Harbor area. Texas style bbq with a focus on delicious smokey beef with sauce on the side. Went with the 1 lb beef brisket (fatty cuts of course), 1lb pork ribs, beef brisket and brisket chili. Sadly, they forgot to add the two sausages I ordered so I cannot comment on them. Beef brisket was very succulent and delicious. The beef rib is always a favored cut of mine and always get this if available. Enough meat for two people as the rib is enormous. Pork ribs were very tender fall of the bone. Brisket chili was interesting riff that had sweet corn mixed in. BBQ for a bit over $100 it was enough food for about 5 meals so all in all not a bad deal. I really wanted to like this place after seeing such good reviews, but it isn't really BBQ more like steamed unseasoned meat with barbecue sauce. The service was good and friendly and the atmosphere made you think this could be the real deal, it just didn't add up. I was craving BBQ, and have been wanting to try BBQ2U for a while. My husband and I stopped in during the week after work looking for a quick bite to eat in the plaza. Not knowing what to expect, surprisingly, there was a solid line to order your food at the counter. There is plenty of seating inside, and they offer to-go and online orders. You wait in line to order, and then also wait at the counter to get your food. There isn't a "take your name" or "call your number" system, but the food is worth the wait. We both ordered brisket sandwich, with chips and a fountain soda. They also have a selection of unique bottled sodas. The sandwich was simple, but still delicious. They have an area with sauces you can choose from, but I wished they were labeled so you know what sauce was what. There's also an area to purchase sauces and rubs to take home, and other merchandise items. It's a cool local spot that filled my BBQ craving. So this is Texas bbq- which should be all about the brisket. And...the brisket was phenomenal! Best I've had outside of Texas. Perfect! The red hot sausage was good- but cooled off to fast. Great flavor though. The ribs were good. My wife love them. I prefer a little more fall off the bone, but no complaints. The pulled pork was not up to my standard. It's OK as I will be ordering brisket only next time. The sides- potato salad and French fries were great. The coleslaw was good - not perfect, but good. The beans had good reviews. Hands down the best Texas BBQ I've had since coming to Washington! Come early if you're looking for a specific protein, like all real BBQs they can only smoke/grill so much each day. There's a chance you could miss out! BBQ2U has great menu options for proteins and sides as well as a bunch of nostalgic soda brands. Our favorite side is the fried okra (my wife was raised in TX and this is a common BBQ side). It's always fried fresh to order and never oily. The other sides are tasty as well. Every protein I've tried has been great: brisket, turkey, sausage, etc. Great BBQ flavors. It's a walk up order window with plenty of seating inside. Service is prompt and friendly. I am a returning customer. I ordered a to go order consisting of 1 pound split 1/2 brisket and 1/2 pork with a side order of fries. The brisket and pulled pork were good as always a little on the dry side. The BBQ sauce is pretty good as well. This is one of the better BBQ places that Ive found outside of Texas or Kansas City, certainly within Washington. The restaurant has the feel of an authentic Texas BBQ though it is not at the same level as Franklin or Jack Stacks in KC. for example. I was disappointed with the fries for a second time as they were dry and not a lot of flavor but this was a to go order so there may have been some quality loss on the drive home. Meat - Dino Beef Rib & Burnt Ends (5 stars) The rib was almost 2lbs, they do not separate or pull meat off. It cost is $50 right off the bat but well worth as the fat was rendered and fell off the bone. There is BBQ sauce but did not need as the seasoning, smoke ring and bark was excellent. Sides - Mac & Cheese, Chili, Beans and Coleslaw The Mac & Cheese had mushy noodles and was bland. Chili and Coleslaw were ok, nothing too special and bland. The beans were excellent (highly recommend) The restaurant was clean and well lit, smells wonderful when you enter. Started getting busy around noon (Saturday) and many took to go so plenty of seating. When we stopped by the first time in the evening, it was packed and only sausage & sides left. I like me some BBQ. And smoked meat is the best. It smelled like someone's backyard bbq and made my mouth water. Someone is smoking meat in here and I doubt they enhance it with liquid smoke. There is not aftertaste and the lingering smell on my clothes and in my nostrils was hardwood smoke. I ordered the Texas Trinity and a pecan pie. Trinity was the thighs, three bones, and the brisket. Yum, yum, yum. Ribs and brisket so soft and flavorful. The thighs were good but I'll probably try something else next time. Maybe it was because they were pre-sauced. Excited I found this place. I got the recommendation yesterday to come try this bbq place and being from Texas I was really tired of people recommending bbq places because none are ever comparable to real Texas BBQ but whew!!!! Let me tell you this place was AMAZING! We tried quite a bit of the menu this trip, the brisket was moist and flavorful, the pulled pork was delicious, we didn't unfortunately get to try the jalapeño sausage because they were out but the regular one was good, the turkey was also great. As far as sides go we tried the Mac and cheese and potato salad both were good. Their bbq sauce was so good definitely recommend taking a bottle home. The place was well lit and clean and had a Texan aesthetic. Highlights of this spot are -The food -service was top tier -Big Red -Blue bell ice cream -Sweet Tea Yelp viewers, I usually always take pictures of my food but this place was so good I got lost feeling at home I forgot to take pictures.
