I ordered this place for the first time on Valentine's Day to try something new with my boyfriend. We were enjoying our meal until my boyfriend pulled out this HARD piece of plastic in his potato salad. It was not only hard but sharp. The people were extremely nice inside however that doesn't cover up finding hard plastic in your food. I'm glad he didn't ingest it or get hurt but this sucks especially after leaving a solid tip. I would have loved to of reported this on the website but I didn't see that as an option so i'm making this post. Not the greatest first impression. :/ read more

Really good bbq! The brisket was moist and fell apart. No fork no knife needed!! The sauce was flavorful and balanced. The ribs were very tasty with a sweet finish. I've driven past My 4 Sons BBQ many times and have always wanted to try it. Luckily I was in the neighborhood with a friend and BBQ was on the menu that night. Came by Friday around 6 pm and the place had steady business. Had to wait in line for about 10 mins because this is a popular place. Got to the ordering counter & decided on the chicken plate with two sides, broccoli salad and baked potato salad. My friend got 1/4 lb of pulled pork and side of mac n cheese. We decided to dine in at one of the four tables. After we got our order we sat down and dug in. The chicken was peppered and smoked and delicious. Love the broccoli salad! Finally a BBQ spot that's memorable and that I will for sure come back to! Ordered online, came inside to pick up and was surprised to see what a wide selection of beers and ciders they had for being a smaller restaurant. Only $100 for my order, tax and 20% tip included! Compared to other bbq I've had, I feel like this is such a steal for all I got AND for such great food. 1/2 rack of ribs, 1 lb brisket, 1/2 lb burnt tips, 1/2 lb pulled pork, 8 mini cornbreads, small potato salad, cole slaw, beans, and broccoli salad. The brisket and burnt ends are an absolute must and all the sides were too good for me to ever choose just two sides. The cole slaw and broccoli salad were so fresh and not covered in dressing but still soooo good. Tried this BBQ spot for the first time today and honestly had a really good experience! The baked beans were pretty good--personally I think they could've been cooked just a little longer, but still tasty. My boyfriend got the broccoli salad and LOVED it (he's a big fan of broccoli and coleslaw, so it was basically a two-in-one win for him). Both barbecue sauces were amazing, but we both agreed the spicy one takes the crown. The pulled pork sandwich was a little on the dry side, so we definitely put that sauce to work--but even then, it was still pretty solid. The atmosphere was great and everyone working was super nice. I ordered the brisket plate which comes with 2 sides, mac & cheese, and pickles which were both really good! The pickles were super flavorful, and the Mac was good Mac. Brisket was delicious but I'd probably order on a bigger scale. Also I drank a jones soda which is the cherry on top. Service was good, and a small seating area. I ordered on line and got a rib plate with Mac n cheese and beans. A Brisket plate with ribs added. A pulled pork plate with pulled chicken with potato salad and cornbread. Also got a 1/2 Lb of burnt ends. All of the meat Was very good, but some the burnt ends were a little tuff. The beans were a little dry and not great but I don't really like baked beans anyway so no big deal. The potato salad was under cooked imo but good flavor. The service was quick and friendly it only took a few minutes to get my order ready once I arrived. The dining area is small but clean and looks like a BBQ joint. Disclaimer, this was not my first time here. When I first arrived the line was to the door, they were teaching a young kid to run the register. No big deal, training someone takes time and you have to do it some time. They welcomed every patron that came in and thanked them for their patience when leaving. They have a few tables, but ordered to go. Now for the important stuff... the food. 1. The Brisket. I love brisket. It's my favorite BBQ option. However, I am not a fan of the fatty/wet majority. Before they had asked if you wanted the lean side or the other, this time nope. Definitely fattier than I like. 2. Burnt Ends. My first time trying them here, pretty tender but some pieces were 100% fattyness. Again, see #1 not a fan of the extra fatty meat. 3. Sides. The broccoli salad was my favorite. The baked potato salad was super rich, but not bad. The macaroni and cheese wasn't bad. It was smokey and cheesy, but seemed to be missing something maybe some pepper or even jalapeño would just set it off. read more

When I tell you I went on 7/4/23 I felt like I ate brisket soaked in oil. The baked beans were not cooked all the way. The Mac n cheese had no real flavor. Added salt and bbq sauce and I still left it. The cold slaw was dry like it had never seen moisture. A lady came in and walked straight over to me and said "I have never been here what do you think?" I told her "if you like oily meat with no flavor, uncooked beans, dry slaw and bland Mac n cheese have at it." Who I went with was very upset that I suggested this place. Both of our stomachs hurt still 7/5. My suggestion is make your own or only order the beef ribs. You guys had great service, but it was extremely warm in there too. Came here twice for lunch while I was in the Fife area, and both times I left full and satisfied. Both trips, I got the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and potato salad. The pulled pork was very tender with a good smoke flavor. The pork comes unsauced, but there is sauce on the table for those who need it. The potato salad was chunky with plenty of potatoes and was made with the right amount of mayo to get the creamy consistency. The beans were my least favorite, and I was hoping they would be better the second time I ordered them. For me, they were not sweet enough and tasted more like pinto beans with a hint of bbq sauce. This was one of the first restaurants we ever tried once we moved to the area in 2018. I remember it was the best BBQ I had had in a long, long time. The brisket especially, it was tender and so flavorful. Over the years, I'm sure it's suffered thanks to COVID, or at least I think it has because it's not quite as amazing as it once was. Mac is kind of bland, potato salad I still like, but the meats, I'm not sure, they're just not a 10 anymore, more like a 7. Also, for the prices, you definitely get more sides than you do meat. I understand and expect to pay for BBQ, but I feel like I get more whenever I eat at bbq2u in Gig Harbor. There are few things I love more than bbq and nice folks. This place stays on my radar for when my Texas heart misses bbq. Burnt Ends are only available on Saturdays. The guys preparing my food asked if I wanted my brisket lean or fatty which is a nice treat. I think the brisket could have used more salt but my St. Louis ribs were very nice. A little sweetness in the crust. The broccoli coleslaw was delicious and they're very generous with sides. It's a small little spot that reminds me of roadside bbq places in central Texas. We came here a couple years ago so hopefully they've changed, but when we came we noticed not a single burner was on on their stove. What kind of restaurant doesn't have their stove on?? Everything was precooked and heated in a microwave. The mac and cheese tasted like plastic wrap and was super dried out on top, like it had reverted back to actual dried pasta. Everything they provide is exceptional. However, my personal preference is their brisket, burnt ends, big beef ribs, baked beans, potato salad, and coleslaw. I always double up on the brisket whenever I order it and the burnt ends can only be acquired on Saturday, so it's worth doubling or tripling up on that as well. First timers! Ordered the brisket plate and rib plate, meat itself was delicious. Would have been better if they had their spicy bbq sauce as I heard many good things. Had the potatoes, mac and corn bread for the sides. Potatoes were yummy! Mac was okay but the corn bread had a soapy taste to it? We ordered 4 extra as they were mini ones and only 25 cents. Even the extra four my fiance was able to smell the soap, I tried it myself and the soap taste is definitely there. I'd come back but only for the meats and potatos. read more

THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! *insert drool* It came with pickles and pickled onions. I also subbed for spicy bbq sauce! (They need to bottle that sauce and sell separately. WOW!) Mac N Cheese and Smoked BBQ beans for the sides. 15 out of 10!!! The service was pretty good. The gentleman used gloves when handling my order so that gave me confidence in their service. The inside of the restaurant was pretty clean when I got there. There weren't that many chairs/tables for indoor dining though I noticed.
