Stopped in today with a customer and a few coworkers on the recommendation of one of the crew, and dang, that was a solid call. WartHog Barbecue is straight-up awesome. The menu is stacked... like "everything sounds good, how do I choose?" stacked. Tons of options, all legit BBQ comfort food. I went with the two-meat special: pulled pork and brisket, plus potato salad, beans, and a corn muffin. Every single thing slapped. Brisket was on point, pork was tender and smoky, and the sides were legit; not just filler. Others in our group had the brisket Reuben (big hit) and ribs, which disappeared fast, so yeah... that tells you something. Huge shoutout to Deborah--she was fantastic. Super friendly, walked us through the process, brought the food, checked on us, grabbed anything extra we needed. Old-school good service, which you don't always get anymore. If you're looking for fancy vibes and linen napkins, keep driving. But if you want killer BBQ, a clean spot, and great service? This is absolutely the place. Zero regrets. I'd go back in a heartbeat. The husband was craving barbecue and we happened to be in the area. We decided to stop on by. We were greeted by a lovely lady who was super friendly and accommodating. The staff were all so nice. We ordered our food. I got the 2 pieces catfish and he got the 2 meat meal (chicken and pork ribs). Mine was huge and came with greens, Coleslaw and fries. His came with 2 ribs and a hindquarter. I liked my order but his chicken was dry and his ribs were small. The coleslaw was delish!!! I liked the greens as well. The dining area was pretty small but the service really made up for it. We also ordered the slice of mountain berry Devonshire pie. That was sooooo good!! Not sure I'd go out of my way to come here but if I'm in the area, I'd stop by for some of the pie again. read more

Bbq is ok , lots of ok bbq. Service makes no sense. I can't get a two meat bbq plate with both meats being pulled pork. I'm from the south , bbq isnt new to me and I've never seen this before. I was told you can't double the meat , it's not Doubling. You are paying for your choice of two meats and probably saving them money by not making one of them ribs. Plenty of food for the price you pay. Pretty good food too. However, some parts of the BBQ we received was a bit dry. They do offer a BBQ sauce bar, so slathering the yummy BBQ sauce on it made it better. The cornbread it comes with is very dense though- almost like a brick. The sweet tea wasn't sweet enough either for my taste. I lived in the South for 5 1/2 years, so I may be very biased. The restaurant is clean though and the servers, although new and couldn't give us suggestions when we asked, were very honest and polite. I wouldn't mind coming back here casually. read more

Stopped here on our way through the Tacoma area, and we will definitely be returning in a couple days on our way home. Such delicious food and friendly staff. Rustic and homey indoor seating, with plenty of relaxed outdoor seating as well. The food came quickly and I'm already craving the barbecued pulled pork sandwich again. Perfect ratio of meat to sauce, and the bun was soft, soaking up the sauce and all of it was magical to eat. Temp was hot off the grill, which I love, things just don't taste the same once they cool down. My teen son had the Wagyu cheeseburger with grilled onions, and for this picky eater & athlete to devour it is saying something. He couldn't quite finish it because it was so hearty. What a disappointment this was. The place was empty and there were many items that were not available. The Mac and Cheese with pulled pork had many things wrong. 1. It was lukewarm to start 2. The pulled pork was more like pulled pork fat. Very little pork and when you did get meat it was not flavorful at all. No smoke flavor. 3. The Mac was flavorless and tasted meh like ZERO seasoning and bland. The cheese sauce was not good at all. 4. The "Homemade Pie" was only good if you ate the berry topping as the cream cheese filling had zippy flavor. I'm a bit surprised at the negative reviews. This place is a little hidden as it is on the opposite side of the freeway were most of the other restaurants in this area. I've personally never had a bad meal here. Pork ribs the meat falls off the bone. BBQ sauce was very tasty. The lady who took our order also checked on us during the meal and was very nice. My friend who has never been to this restaurant enjoyed his brisket meal and said he would return. I've always dined in and have not ordered to go from this restaurant. read more

Few restaurants are this consistently good they were slammed when we got there today but the food was out exactly when they said it would be and it tasted amazing. Everything from the meat to the sides were hot fresh and delicious. The restaurant is clean and has a cool rustic atmosphere exactly what you would expect from a BBQ pit restaurant. Wow! How have I not been to Warthog in Tacoma. First walk-in and smells like smoke! Yes! Decor is fabulous and matches the exterior log cabin. This place is subpar at best. My company bought lunch for us and we ordered a bunch of different things, I got the doc holiday. That burger was the most tasteless burger I have ever eaten. A burger anywhere else would have been better, Mind you, this burger is almost $20. I would rather make food at home and bring it than eat this for free. The fries were very soggy, but I like soggy fries, so that was a plus. A few of my colleagues got the brisket, which they described as mostly fat. BBQ sauce was good, I had the pulled chicken sandwich -- kiddo had the cheese quesadilla. That was thumbs up review, but sandwich came in soggy bun, and bits of fat. Not appealing. Their house French fries were nice and crips. Also ordered the sweet tea, and it came out of the fountain HOT . By the time it was chilled it was watered down from all the ice I had to put into it. I ventured to the restroom cause they did not provide any moist wipes after eating a BBQ messy sandwich..... I had to move some big wooden box out so I could roll in and close the door. .... Food: I ordered the BBQ Turkey and the guy at the counter said it wasn't one of his favorites, but I thought it was pretty dang good! The Turkey was tender and the BBQ sauce they give with it is really tangy. I was told the gumbo is bomb so next time I come, that's what I will get. Honestly, delicious food. I'm stoked to have found a BBQ place up in Fife. Atmosphere: So... wooden seats but they give you a Warthog emblazons cushion to sit on! Brilliant! It's such a cool place inside, looks like a hunters cabin. I love when places give it a little decor, but just make sure you dust stuff off once in a while... Price: Not a bad price, 15$ will get you a solid meal. You can also get party trays for like 50$ which is pretty cool. Also - they have sweet tea. Now, the guy at the counter said they "probably got it wrong" but I tasted it, it was pretty good. Actually, "authentic" sweet tea will make your teeth rot immediately with the amount of sugar that they put in. So, thumbs up for it not being bad "authentic." Service: When you ask the server what they like - take their suggestion. Now, I will have to come back to try the gumbo. Also, the server said their collared greens were delicious and I have yet to find a place with good collared greens, so I will have to come back because they were not ready when we came in the morning. Overall: This was a pretty bomb BBQ place that I never knew about, but I'm going to come back for more. I've ordered to-go meals here twice. The first time I ordered was 2 years ago. Then I'd rate it 1/5. My fries were raw/undercooked, found curly hairs in my pulled pork sandwich. My partner ordered brisket and it was extremely fatty. We threw all the food into garbage because it was inedible. Truly disgusting. Second time was last week, i was very nervous it was gonna be terrible again but it was actually very good. I rate it 4/5. Food was cooked all the way through. I ordered smoked turkey sandwich and my partner ordered the brisket sandwich. We both enjoyed. Brisket had very little fat and meat was good. Turkey was great, it had a layer of fat on the rims of the meat but i peeled it off, no big deal. (I'm very picky) We ordered a bunch of fries and they were all cooked. Not raw. Kind of like 5 guys fries! Mac & cheese was .. ok. Couldnt taste any cheese and i felt like it was just macaroni swimming in a liquid. I'd say if you had a bad experience, try it again. Do not go here without having at least $50 or more because the place is overpriced. They advertise 4 wings for $12.00 but in actuality you only get 2 big wings. The owner cuts 1 wing in half and considers that 2 wings. False advertising at its finest. Actually all the prices are overpriced. They don't serve anything diet other than Diet Coke which not everyone likes. The restaurant is compact so not a lot of moving space. Very little parking in the parking lot unless there is more parking behind the restaurant. The staff is friendly and they do verify all debit or credit card transactions with your ID which is nice. I don't know good bbq from bad bbq, but I do know what I like. And my brisket hot sandwich did not disappoint. I came with two other colleagues and asked for a recommendation. The cheerful young lady behind the counter said brisket! We each had something different with brisket (a dip sandwich, a reuben, and my hot sandwich), We all enjoyed our meals and decided we will be back. My sandwich: A crusty piece of french break with brisket on top, covered with gravy. This included mash potatoes. The brisket was seasoned well, the gravy was tasty and soaked into the bread, and good potatoes. Score...I have left overs! I took two pieces of pie home; key lime for me and peanut butter for hubs. He said his pie was very peanut buttery and rich (he took a few bites, and saved some for later). My key lime was nice and puckery, but good cream on top. Adorable cabin style restaurant prices are high parking is decent and easy on and off the freeway. I only purchased a small beans because prices where high. I was not impressed.
