My wife and I decided to come to Angela's for breakfast. We were greeted quickly and seated by our waitress. I had coffee and my wife had OJ and milk, along with water. My wife had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast with diced potatoes and Fried Eggs and biscuits, along with extra gravy. I had the two scrambled eggs, two sausages and two pancakes (I think the #2?). Also a side of salsa. The coffee was great, and got a coffee pot of it for our table. Breakfast came quickly and my pancakes were HUGE! My wife loved her food and said it was the best Chicken Fried Steak she ever tasted. My breakfast was also great, and I almost couldn't finish it, but I managed...barely. lol. Absolutely love this place. It's like a hidden gem in Midland Washington. They serve breakfast all day. I came here specifically for the fried chicken and JoJos and it did not let me down. Chicken was juicy, nice flavor, crispy skin really good. My only ask, if you provide some sort of buffalo sauce for those of us that like it spicy. I also got a blackberry pie because they make them fresh daily. And it was super awesome. I also ordered a side of mashed potato and brown gravy and it did not let down. I have lived in the area for almost my entire life and had never hit up this spot. They definitely have their regulars and the people working here are very friendly. We went for breakfast and unfortunately I don't really need to go back. The chicken fried steak was bland, the potatoes tasted funny, and the toast tasted like onions. However, my friend did like her biscuits and gravy, she is also someone who thinks black pepper is spicy. This just was not a hit out of the park for me but I always think everyone should go and try for themselves. read more

I ordered mashed potatoes with white gravy, SOS with eggs over easy and 4 piece fried chicken and joes. SOS was average which surprised me. First time lunch customer. Had their Monte Cristo sandwich with green salad. The bread for the sandwich tasted like a French toast with lots of ham,turkey, and cheese. Moist and juicy. Salad needs some improvements. Greens were ice berg lettuce, flooded with dressing and shredded mozzarella cheese. Will try the jojos next time and house made pies. While vacationing in Washington state, celebrating the new year, 2025, we were in Tacoma and looking for an amazing diner and we found it! We were right at home here and welcomed in by Sue and Halley! Their warm, generous service is the best! We ordered their cranbird and vegetable beef soup combos and the sandwiches were loaded with moint turkey and delicious cream cheese and cranberry! The vegetable beef soup was hearty, delicious, and loaded with vegetables and chunks of beef! My wife enjoyed her grilled cheese sandwich too! We finished with their delicious blackberry pie heaping with hand-scooped vanilla ice cream and lemon cream pie, both super delicious and home made of course too! The ambience is very enjoyable with several locals frequenting this diner. We really enjoyed our dining experience here and will be back during our next visit to Tacoma! If you are looking for Americana this is the place. Old school diner food for sure. I had the SOS an interesting interpretation but it was tasty and a good serving. They have in house pies and cakes that looked great. My girlfriend said they tasted good. They are real friendly here our waitress had worked there for 20 years. Nice family grub grab. It was late, we were hungry, they were open. That's some pretty low hanging fruit. I called in our order and was told that it would be 30 minutes. I arrived at the 30 minute mark and waited another 10 minutes. OMG, it was worth every second of the wait. I was sent away with two giant bags of food, apparently they miss heard me when they asked my name. I told them David and I think they heard football team. There was certainly enough food to feed one. Not only was it plentiful, it was delicious. It was such a treat to be so warmly welcomed by restaurant staff when I was arriving so close to closing time. I kind of avoided coming here for quite some time because the overall Yelp average was not favorable for it. But it has increased considerably. Steve mentioned it may have something to do with a change of ownership. Regardless what may have been involved I decided it was worth a try when it came to an overall star average of four stars. The set up is everything you could hope for with a diner. Nice booths, tables and seats with fresh and new upholstery of red on gray. Lots of very fine pies in a case in which we discovered did not disappoint when we took dessert home with us. The menu is what you would normally see at a diner. Sandwiches, hamburgers, fried chicken, omelets, chicken fried steak and salads make up much of the menu. Portions are generous! I got a Taco Salad and managed to finish almost all of it but alas my plate wasn't quite clean but I was just stuffed. Steve ordered some fried chicken and said it was the best he had in a restaurant in a very long time. He would have given the chicken five stars he said. It was indeed worth it. Our meals tasted fresh and were flavorful, that was for certain and was far from something lackluster in that department. So we drove by this place many times but never stopped in. We decided to have an order to go. We called them and it would take 20 min to pick up. We ordered 6 piece chicken meal with JoJos. I am no chicken expert but my wife said it the best chicken she has ever eaten. JoJos second best. I too didn't care too much for the JoJos. I like mine more meaty but these seemed dried out. For the Sour Cream, they have their own recipe. I'm a traditionalist and want the glob of sour cream on my JoJo but each to there own. For the chicken, it's very juicy. I though it was oil coming out of it but my wife said that's the juices. Counter person was very friendly and the food coming out of the kitchen looked good. I never knew they served breakfast until today. That's being said, I always believed breakfast should be cheaper than dinner. I will go in and try their breakfast one day. read more

First off want to give credit for being in business since 1947!! Would have given 4 stars based on the famed Chicken & Joes and history alone but sad to say I'm not sure how a diner survives w/poor coffee (and bad burger). I even asked gal before ordering, she clearly stated as GOOD coffee. It came in thermos but not only barely warm but poor quality. I then asked if we could get actual cream ( I'm doing low carb) and she insisted it was. ......hhmmm, questionable and still didn't help coffee. Ok food arrived, hubby's 2-pc. Fried chicken breasts & joes look amazing. I was so jealous, all crispy golden juicy ($16) and lunch/dinner price/portion good. I ordered cheeseburger deluxe w/lettuce wrap (no bun) w/side salad. Burger came awkward w/romaine so had to use knife & fork, patty flavorless overcooked & dry. Thankfully the cheese, onion , Mayo helped..side green salad w/ranch generic. Server friendly but should have noticed my coffee cup still full and placed to take away entire service yet were still charged a shocking $7 for terrible barely warm Joe. Hubs Fried chicken & joes the savior for sure, very good . Menu prices overall are now just too much. Breakfasts, burgers, salads run about $16-17! Wife and I went to try this place out after Church today. Wife ordered chicken and waffles, which was over priced. The chicken was pretty good, however, the waffle was less than desirable. I ordered a double cheeseburger and fries. I DID NOT order a smash, torn up burger. The fries were over cooked and hard. As you can see in the pics, the burgers were broken up and pieced together. Why is that? Was my burger dropped and had to be put back together with some cheese added to give an appearance of it being edible? I asked the waitress if this is how you serve your burgers. Her reply was " well, we do make our burgers from scratch". When I said I have made many burgers from scratch and have never served burgers in pieces. She was like, maybe while flipping, they broke apart. Then she offered to replace it with some else off the menu. I just her no thank you, I'm good. I threw it away, uneaten. Many of the staff have worked together for decades and know their lifetime customers names, orders, and preferences. We can still can find small town service in Tacoma 2025. They served a group of 55 for a gathering. We made a reservation and pre-ordered some of their iconic dishes chicken, jojo's, burgers, club sandwiches, fries, onion rings, pies, cinnamon rolls, and milkshakes. The food and service were exceptional as always. I got several calls and texts from people up to a week later telling me they loved the food, atmosphere, and friendly staff. And the jojo's are huge. Don't over look the homemade pies and cinnamon rolls. You''ll be lucky to make it home with them. The service is friendly and welcoming. You feel like they've known you for a while. Stepping into the restaurant is like stepping into a favorite memory from your past. The surroundings are warm and familiar.
