We tried The BBQ Shack (2936 Lafayette Rd, Fort Oglethorpe, GA) for the first time tonight. I ordered the chicken sandwich plate with baked beans and coleslaw, my husband had the beef sandwich with fried pickles and fried okra, and we got our toddler the two chicken strips with fries. Ironically, our toddler ended up with the best meal of the three. His chicken tenders were actually tender and flavorful, and while the fries were pretty basic, they were fine. Unfortunately, both my smoked chicken sandwich and my husband's beef BBQ sandwich were very dry. We ended up adding Sweet Baby Ray's sauce just to make them more enjoyable. The fried pickles were extremely overcooked -- so crunchy they were hard -- and didn't have much pickle flavor at all. The fried okra was bland and lacked seasoning. We did arrive around 6:00 p.m., and they close at 7:00, so it's possible we caught them at the end of a long day. Either it was an off night, or this is typical -- we're honestly not sure. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I got my food and ordered a water with my food. I walked up to the register and asked for my water when I got my food. All the employees come to the window and start yelling saying I didn't even order a water in the first place. An employee gave me a cup completely full of ice with barely any water then proceeded to hang his head out the window and threatening us as we walked back to the car. Full disclosure wish I could review their food but unfortunately they always run out of what I want. Have even called ahead and when I got to them they said they ran out. How in the world do you tell someone you have enough and then run out? If you only have a small amount say enough for three portions or servings say so. That way I don't waste my time driving down to you. This has happened 3 times. Won't be trying for a fourth. Best thing to do is let your customers know what portions you have left. For example: if you only have 3 burgers left say so because it's obvious I won't be the only person wanting them. read more

Every other place in town for good bbq with reviews was closed! That's my honest review. This wasn't the first bbq to pop up but it should be 5 stars all around! I hate eat in so the drive through or walk up options only for me were awesome. I'm looking to relocate my family to the area from Florida so a good bbq place in the area is awesome! The guy that took my order was patient with me and let me skim the menu for as long as I needed and my food was up and hot within 5 mins. And the ribs are SO good!! read more

I love the BBQ. The Flavor is just right. The fries are terrible though. (Just my opinion) The regular fries have NO salt or seasoning at all and the hot fries are so intense it hurts my tongue. I always end up throwing them away. Everything else I have tried is delicious. We eat there at least once a week. read more

Nice small place, great staff and food was absolutely delicious...fried pickles , okra, dog, chilly cheese fries....all YUM..the prices and portions were good. This little gem is found right outside of the Confederate Battlefield Park. From the street it doesn't look like much, but don't let that fool you. I've recently ate bbq from here twice. It's cooked right! Nothing better than good BBQ from a place that has the smoke rolling out of the smoking shed! The guy that works the window must be the owner, a really normal down to earth guy. The health score was posted ... a solid 100. They have a pretty large menu with typical combos. I had the jumbo bbq sandwich, crinkle fries, with tea for $8 and some change. This place is Awesome! I've been there a few times, and never been disappointed with what I got. The Killer Potatoes are really good, with plenty of sauce and toppings. If I had one complaint, it would be that the potato might be a little lost since there's so much extra stuff. The ribs are really good. I got four big, meaty ribs and two sides for, like, 8 bucks. They just fell off the bone, and the bbq sauce is really good and flavorful. I have also bought pulled pork by the pound and used it to make a bbq pizza. It was the best bbq pizza ever. Tried to do it again after that with Lloyd's and it wasn't even close. I'm looking forward to when they start making the Brunswick Stew again, since they only make it during the cold months. It's so good, I could eat it every day. It really is a shack, and the parking is sparse, but it's easily one of the best bbq places in the area, and easily the one where you get the best bang for your buck. read more

Wish I I could rate no stars!! Absolutely horrible management and customer service. I was on way after calling for quantities of food on hand. I ask question of how many burgers they had but was rudely interrupted asking how many I need. Deplorable customer service. If I was told not many quantities. I would of saved a trip. After arriving you could you could only imagine saying there's none we just sold the burgers. Not a good business practice to follow. I would stay away from this place. Don't waste your time asking what you have on hand if you like being scolded for asking a common sense question!! Tasty tasty tasty! Drive up only . BBQ was fresh, they had both Pork and beef BBQ . We had their BBQ meats served over a baked potatoe with sour cream and cheese. Very unusual but worth the try.. staff were friendly and helpful would come again :). Great prices good value read more

This place is everything you want it to be. It is a literal shack, with a bigger smokehouse than restaurant. Ribs are remarkable, pork is very good. Sides are a bit of a let down, but not bad at all. Highly recommended. read more

We ate here for the first time tonight but it will not be our last. We picked up a pound of the pork along with a side of cole slaw. We enjoyed it very much. Since moving to this location a few years ago we have tried to find really good bbg. I saw the 100 health dept score in the paper (cleanliness matters a lot to me) and so decided to stop at BBQ Shack tonight. Very satisfied with the food, the price and the service. read more
