Every other place in town for good bbq with reviews was closed! That's my honest review. This wasn't the first bbq to pop up but it should be 5 stars all around! I hate eat in so the drive through or walk up options only for me were awesome. I'm looking to relocate my family to the area from Florida so a good bbq place in the area is awesome! The guy that took my order was patient with me and let me skim the menu for as long as I needed and my food was up and hot within 5 mins. And the ribs are SO good!!

They have a drive thru. The business hours are 11-7 M-F.

I love the BBQ. The Flavor is just right. The fries are terrible though. (Just my opinion) The regular fries have NO salt or seasoning at all and the hot fries are so intense it hurts my tongue. I always end up throwing them away. Everything else I have tried is delicious. We eat there at least once a week.

Drove 2hrs to come eat at the place and was so worth it. Nice small place, great staff and food was absolutely delicious...fried pickles , okra, dog, chilly cheese fries....all YUM..the prices and portions were good. If you are anywhere by Ruby falls, Rock City or Point Park...MUST COME...surly come back if we r in town. They r open Monday to Friday from 11.7...forgot the rest

    Whole lotta BBQ goodness

This little gem is found right outside of the Confederate Battlefield Park. From the street it doesn't look like much, but don't let that fool you. I've recently ate bbq from here twice. It's cooked right! Nothing better than good BBQ from a place that has the smoke rolling out of the smoking shed! The guy that works the window must be the owner, a really normal down to earth guy. The health score was posted ... a solid 100. They have a pretty large menu with typical combos. I had the jumbo bbq sandwich, crinkle fries, with tea for $8 and some change. If your in the area; this is a go-to place.

Darn good Que at good prices. Just make sure to get there early as some dishes are limited stock.

We got several platters (chicken and pork) and various sides. Everything was so good and tasted like your family made it for you. Some standout items: the coleslaw is super finely chopped which gives it a really good texture, flavor is great. The potato salad was creamy and perfectly seasoned. The pork was so Smokey and tender. Their sauce is super great, would pour that on everything. The fried okra was so tasty, we ate every piece. They have so much cheese in the poppers, delicious. If you're passing through the East Ridge area of Chattanooga, I highly suggest checking out this awesome spot for great food at an even better price. Thanks for the great experience!

The food was good, but the major drawback is that a large plate only had four ribs, one of which you could barely call a rib. The second, drawback for me is that the ribs came with sauce already on them. That's like a major no-no in my book. I know, everybody has their preference, but I prefer to sauce my own food if I feel that it's necessary. To be honest, barbecue should stand on its own without sauce and sauce should only be there to enhance the flavor. The meat was tender, but I couldn't really get a feel for the flavor of the meat because the sauce interfered with that. The pulled pork plate was good. Also, my girlfriend said she enjoyed that. But again, sauce should come on the side in my opinion. I have no real complaint against this place, but I wish I had known ahead of time that the ribs came with sauce on them and I wish that I had known that there were only four ribs on the plate, I would've ordered a whole rack. Prices are good, the place is clean, and as I said, the owners are very welcoming and warm people. Give this place a go, it's worth a trip! But just ask questions before you order!

The fried okra was perfectly browned and piping hot. I am picky about my Cole slaw and this one was in my top 5 ever - chopped and perfect flavor. Finally, all the meats had incredible smoke flavor. On the road, looking for barbecue, checked out the reviews and menu of the #1 Rated place around…read moreme...Thatcher's. Driving up, it looked pretty darn perfect. It was a cute little small restaurant located far away from everything, and across from a small RV campground. The setting screamed, "come get yo-self some good barbecue." There are certain things that I consistently order even if I know I don't need, and cheese curds are one of them. There's were banging, with a great salsa ranch sauce. Once again, I found myself at a crossroads... Order some crazy 3000 calorie concoction, or play it straight and just get simple barbecue. I opted for the smoked meat platter with chopped pork, chicken, and sliced brisket. As if that wasn't enough, I also received three sides. Three huge sides, not the little Mac-n-cheese in a cup I got a few days earlier. The brisket: it looked a little dry, but it was not. It was very smoky. The darkness was from the smoke. They use Hickory wood. It was a tad salty, but overall really great. If I were to go back, I would only order the brisket. The pulled pork: tasty, but on the dry side. The chicken: less tasty, and drier. I don't really know what to make of the pork and the chicken. It might just be a regional difference in how barbecue is prepared? The second you start cutting into cooked meat, the juices run out and things start drying up. Anytime I smoke a pork roast, I immediately pour back all of the juices that were rendered out of the meat and into the foil from being wrapped back into the shredded pork so everything is moist. Even if it is too moist, it is still a good experience. I kind of think dry pulled pork is pretty inexcusable. And with chicken? I have no idea.lol. I always brine the chicken for a long time before I smoke it, and then it served as a breast to slice into. Anyway, I would say no to the chicken, unless the plan is to sauce it up. Speaking of sauces, they gave you three completely different flavors, which I love. And they aren't in a cup, so you won't run out. For the sides... A thick slab of Texas toast. Way better than the puny bread slices I received a couple days ago at the other joint. Solid mac & cheese. You know this was homemade, because the cheese sauce had that somewhat gritty texture. No judgment here, I stopped making homemade mac & cheese myself because I could never get the consistency right. I think it is because the cheese use is either pre-shredded, or it's not stirred in slow enough... Fried green tomatoes - not my thing, but I guess they were good. I had to try out to see what all the fuss was about. The waitress, who was super charming and sweet, recommended the sweet potato tater tots. These were placed in front of me, which made the entire lunch smell like sweet, sugary cinnamon. They were pretty fantastic. I would definitely recommend these when side hunting. Overall, if I was in the area or passing through, I would for sure go back. A lot of their salads and sandwiches and tater tot recipes looked pretty wild. Skip breakfast and lunch and use all of your calories for one meal here. Prices and portions were on point. I didn't even make it through half my meal. If I was far away, I would probably not go super far out of my way to hit this place. But then again, after a couple other places recently...I might just make that drive and enjoy me some more of this cute little place.

If you pull at the meat, there's a solid chance all of it will come right off the bone. I ordered spare ribs and corn, and both came out very quickly. The ribs were obviously the highlight, but the corn was really good too. Since you order at a counter near the entrance, it's a little hard to fully rate the service, but the process was simple and efficient. They also gave us cabbage to feed the goats outside, which was unique and fun. The seating area is near windows with a great view of the mountains, which makes the experience even better. I downloaded Yelp just to write this review, so that should say enough. Definitely recommend Sugar's Ribs, especially for the spare ribs.

Neither were sauced and while the sauces on the table were plentiful, they were watered down. Too liquid to really stick to the meat and provide any flavor. Sad because the options looked interesting yet fell flat on taste. I absolutely loved the location. Up on hill, overlooking the skyline of Chattanooga was a beautiful site. It offered a relaxing diner feel with a good amount of space to enjoy my meal without other patrons being on top of me.
