BBQ TEX MEX in Gorst (360) 516-9912 Review We ordered a half pound of brisket, St. Louis ribs they each came with two sides we got mac & cheese, Charro beans, potato salad the orders came with Texas toast we ordered an additional Texas toast add on of cornbread and a side of sauce, the sauce wasnt needed. Meat was super wet and tender, smoke rings present, the meat wasnt overly smokey or dry, bbq sauce was well seasoned a little heat, a little sweet and vinegary, the mac & cheese is a very creamy béchamel base was very delicious and rich, the potato salad was good, potatoes perfectly cooked, if you don't like crunchy celery keep that in mind, Charro beans were fine (not traditional baked in case you aren't familiar) topped with fresh onion and cilantro, the yellow (not white) cornbread was a big hunk just barely on the dry side so I heated it up added butter and honey stayed a little dry for me, some people love that (soak in beans!), had great corn flavor, wasn't too sweet or flat. Service was friendly and it was super fast, server understood my phone order and got it 100% correct!!!! Total was $66 plus tip. We were more than happy to pay that price- bbq is time, food is expensive, rent of the location is expensive and someone's gotta make a living! We'll go back. Based on my pics and past pics they seem consistent and have worked the kinks out from when they were new.

NOT shabby at all for two quality BBQ sandwiches complete with fries.

If you're in the mood for BBQ by the pound, or in a sandwich this is the place! The tacos are pretty terrific too!! When you're craving BBQ & tacos you're gonna have a very tough time beating this little local!!! The pork sandwich, with slaw and pickles on top, along with tasty golden fries was definitely a winner!!!

We finished everything on our plate. I ordered the combo plate portions were on the smaller side, but still filling. The brisket was a bit on the dry side, though the ends were nice and juicy. It could've used a little more sauce; what came with it was pretty minimal. The baked beans were solid, and the cornbread would've been better with some honey butter or something similar. The homemade root beer tasted good, but the system probably needs a cleaning you can tell there's some buildup in the lines. Overall, we didn't go there for the pub atmosphere we went for the food. We were hungry and wanted barbecue, and we still ate everything. Decently priced with friendly service.

The brisket stuffed quesadilla and the Texas chili I had with a cornbread muffin and 2 full to the brim pints was less than fifty bucks after tip. Outstanding. You could taste every flavor perfectly, and the freshness of it all was great. Our server was amazing, providing us with fast and caring service despite waiting on two main rooms. The pub ambience is a great retreat from a rainy day. Though I do wish they'd get rid of the piss trough and instead do sectioned off urinals but that's just me. Fully recommend.

We were…read moreimpressed walking in I to see the lovely atmosphere of the dining area, bar area and inviting deck overlooking the putting range. On a beautiful summer day and tables w/umbrellas of course we'd love to dine on the deck. Thankfully my hubby noticed a stack of cushions as the chair seats sank really low to eat comfortably. We were greeted promptly by a host and then our server Gabe, nice young man. I had called last night to make sure brunch was on for today, the gal said it was and said there would be a new menu plus some lunch items. She also said eggs Benny & Biscuits & gravy were being removed from the menu given some new additions. I expressed our disappointment given those are typically our go-to's. She said she'd pass it on to the chef. Needless to say we didn't notice a new menu but were pleased to see our favorites still offered. When I asked Gabe about the changes he said he only knew about offering a couple sandwiches & burger from lunch menu. So it sounds like a little confusion on brunch menu. We are just thrilled you have Sunday brunch, a favorite meal for us. I must mention the complimentry house made scones AND the great dark coffee were an instant bonus highlight of our first meal there!! Please don't make any changes on those items other than obviously scone flavors. Today's blueberry and apple/cinn. were delicious. (If I can put in a request of an orange scone plain or w/white or dark chocolate drizzle, yum). I'd love to know I could pick up scones (2-4) on Sundays to enjoy during the week!! Our orders come out fairly fast but we were only the 2nd table at the time of ordering. Gabe was good to bring out the couple condiments, S&P, coffee refill right away. He also had the music turned on outside at our request. I ha a Bloody Mary, it was nice. Our meals (Benny & Sausage Biscuits) looked and WERE all cooked perfectly, eggs soft and potatoes crisp pillow bites also as requested, everything delicious. The gravy unique, appreciated that. Hubby was in heaven as well. He loves generous hollandaise. No issues/complaints to critique. Ok maybe the chairs but with 2 cushions each fine. We can't wait to come back for lunch, happy hour & dinner. But you'll definitely see us often for brunch. Kudos to the staff. I will say we were a bit surprised at the lack of landscaping, lack of lawn care etc around the parking lot and restaurant door entrance. No flowers planted or hanging baskets. Gosh it likes ok without them so I can just imagine how gorgeous bright flowers would impact the appearance!

We dropped in on the spur of the moment at a slow hour but as is often the case service was super slow because there was one person ahead of us. But we were deep in conversation so it didn't annoy us a lot. Once we did get service they were swift to refill coffee cups so we were happy about that and speeding by the time we left. We ordered 3-egg veggie omelettes but they brought omelettes loaded with rubbery square blocks of ham which we dug out to take home to the dogs; two out of three of the dogs thought that was swell, the third seemed to say, "What in heck is this stuff? A cut up super-ball?" These couldn't possibly have been three eggs unless they're buying extra-small eggs during a period of high prices on eggs. These were an egg and a half per omelette, wonderfully paper thin but not big around. Probably would've tasted great if we got what we ordered but what we got instead was kind of a misery. The hashbrowns were pleasant, toast was perfect, and we shared a short stack that was a really good pancake, so we definitely did not go home hungry. We told the waitress we didn't order these omelettes, and she said she wrote it down correctly and she didn't know why the cook got it wrong. She didn't offer to remake them, and we didn't ask 'em too as it took a super long to make the first ones and we were running out of time. We thought we should get a small discount for the little rubber blocks we shoveled to the side, but that wasn't forthcoming. Everyone makes mistakes so it's not a one-star review from me. But it'll be hard to forget and I have a fearful feeling it's the last time we drop in to Jimmy D's if we remember this day every time we drive near it. It's been there so long, though, it feels like it's historic. Though I do still miss when it was the Golden Ox; there was a cook named Aris who was a great cook and a great gent.

Waiters were both rude and had a real bad attitude. It was almost like we were bothering them by being there. Ordered our food despite having the feeling of they didn't want us there. Ordered the bbq pork plate, chicken pad Thai, and sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls. Pork was under cooked (pink on inside), pad Thai noodle was so watery that the sauce diluted with the water from I guess boiling the noodles, sweet and sour chicken.... I have no good words. Egg rolls were the only thing that was great, oh and the Thai tea was good too. This place really missed the mark, I will blame it on going close to 8pm. As for the service, it really needs some work from the 2 gentlemen. Ambiance lots of seating.

Fresh Spring Roll - huge spring roll with an extra piece of cha siu which adds to the overall volume and taste. Tasty peanut sauce which is pretty addicting. I did think the wrap itself was pretty thick though, so a bit tougher to bite through but holds shape very well. Pho Nam - wasn't feeling the standard fancy order of Pho Dac Biet, so settled on just brisket. I was impressed by the sheer amount of meat. Pho Golden makes many pho places across the water look like they're skimping. Besides that, everything was standard--rich broth, heart noodles, and fresh vegetables!
