We had the pleasure of finding this food truck at a local event. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and a side of fries. Everything tasted great. We could have done with a bit more barbecue sauce (and perhaps some additional side options), but there was little else to critique. The wait for food was also reasonable. And staff were engaging. Overall, a really good first experience (and definitely not a last). We've heard rumor that the owner has a fabulous banana pudding in his repertoire, and we'd like to officially cast a vote to see that on the menu. read more

This is a fun place, they always have some sort of live music on the weekends, dancing too! Though if louder environments aren't your thing- then be warned. I love how they have family seating even though there is a big bar. Don't forget they have a BBQ truck at the ship yard! There's pool, darts and a shuffle board. The bathrooms are always clean. The food we love ordering is their pulled pork and Mac and cheese, fried okra, cheese steak French dip and even the meat loaf. We bring our friends and family here when we need a good group setting. My husband loves the chef here, Gotcho! The servers and cooks are always so kind in making alterations to orders, it helps if you're like me and have to order something with no bread. read more

The service was great, friendly servers! The food was pretty good too! I know my husband and son REALLY enjoyed their dinner (so did I). My husband had a hot link sandwich and it was messy and delicious in all the right ways. My son had the Mac and Cheese and he loved it! I had the chicken cesar salad and it hit the spot. The chicken breast was seasoned just right! What is insane are the portion sizes. Both our son and I had half size entrees (so thankful they do that) for "smaller" appetites and they were like a full size entrée plus some for other restaurants. I would highly suggest ordering the half sizes unless you can eat an enormous amount, or want leftovers. If you order salad and don't think you can eat it all definitely get the dressing on the side. The only downfall for us is because our son has autism is the night we were there they were holding a raffle for I believe a local children's soccer team/ club and it was REALLY loud. That is not a complaint against them. It's just info for anyone to know should they visit that they support their community and it could be a tad much for those with special needs or sound sensitivity. I had never tried Smokin Robinsons so when I saw their set-up at a community festival I thought I'd give it a try. I tried the BBQ brisket sandwich and I was extremely disappointed. I know that brisket is fatty but half my sandwich was nothing but fat. Next they use hamburger buns, the really soft kind, so when the BBQ sauce hits the bread it just makes the bun disintegrate. I paid $16.00 for a sandwich that was a sloppy, fatty mess. read more

Love the food here! the wings, brisket, ribs, fries, greens, you name it! It's ALL good! First time I had Smokin Robinson's was smoked turkey leg at the fair. It was beautiful! Juicy, flavorful and filling! That's how all their food is. My ONLY complaint and it's probably out of their control, I can NEVER get through on the phone and I live 25 minutes away and we like to order to go. Because we're coming from late soccer practices and like to get home eat, shower and relax... other than that, service is great food is delish and they're also dog friendly, I once waited outside with a glass of wine and my dog for my food to go. The best BBQ in Bremerton that I know of. When I first found this place, it was in a rundown gas station. It has since moved to and incorporated into a burger joint called McClouds. I was told the same BBQ pit master is there as well as some of the original staff. The brisket was delicious and tender. The baked beans were FIRE with bits of meat. They have a really good cheese steak sandwich. Not exactly like a Philly, but still very tasty. The pulled pork was delicious. Yes, I ate a lot of food while I was there. I'm not into it but, my friend said the catfish was really good. If you're ever in the area, you gotta try. read more

TAKE ALL MY MONEY!!!!! I was craving BBQ/soul food and didn't want to go to another place because their sides were lack luster. I found this place on Yelp and remembered that I see their food truck on base at the shipyard but I just thought it was selling burgers. Yea I am kicking myself for not going to that truck and finding out that they are, well my son would say "Bussin!" I went to the restaurant and apparently I got there before the rush. I traded info back in forth with the cashier because there was so much to choose from. My stomach was craving the catfish but my brain said brisket so I split the difference and got the two meat plate. Pause but my real dilemma can with the sides. I was totally skeptical because I am from the southeast of VA and have just transplanted from Mississippi so I'm prone to having delicious sides with a lot of flavor and I was going to lose it if the collard greens were not up to my tastebuds. Solid 4 stars in my book. Ordered the 3 meat combo and some fried catfish. Had brisket, pulled pork and chicken. As for the sides, went with fried green tomatoes and Mac & cheese. All the meats were moist and very tasty! The macs were extremely good and the wife liked the fried green tomatoes. The fried catfish is really good, cooked to perfection! They are attached to the side of a gas station so you can get some beer for that BBQ while you wait for your togo order. Will return to try more of their yummy BBQ! read more

This place could not have messed up my barbecue any worse than they did. It was sorely disappointing. Everything was overcooked. There is nothing like having rib tips that are chewy and overcooked. The pulled pork was very dry. And although the beef brisket had some possibility to being halfway decent it fell very short as well because it was overcooked. Or it had sat too long. I can't tell you if I actually know the difference or not. It was just awful. The two sides that I got to go along with this 3 types of meat meal included fried okra and macaroni and cheese. The fried okra was actually very good. It was crispy and had just enough salt on it to not be overwhelming, and each bite-sized nugget was worth holding on to. Those were very good. But $18, that was the cost of my meal, for some okra that tasted good was horrifying. It actually made me mad. How in the world can somebody mess up macaroni and cheese so bad that for the moment I'm feeling like I will never ever eat macaroni and cheese again? Who doesn't like macaroni and cheese? This stuff was horrifying. I won't even try to tell you what it tastes like, but they need to remove it from the menu and start all over again on that mac and cheese. The place was full of people, quite crowded, and I know that some folks just don't know the difference between good barbecue and bad. It's like you could slather some barbecue sauce on the bottom of a tennis shoe, and someone who just likes the flavor barbecue sauce is likely to sink their teeth into it and never realize that it is a tennis shoe. But they will rave about how much they love it. But then there are people who do know good barbecue, and those who don't at least at least know good food. So I asked you to give it a try and let me know is it good barbecue or is it some fake s***. And whoever bagged up my food has a serious hole in their head. They put the clean napkins inside of the box of BBQ meat. Basically the napkins were not usable because they had barbecue sauce all over them. read more

Pulled pork and fries. Look, the pulled pork is pretty tasty. But there are some issues here and I feel like a sucker for tipping a to-go order now. Too greasy! My bottom bun was completely soggy. Disgusting texture. I took half the pork off after removing the bottom bun, folded the top bun amd ate it like a taco. Could have used more than 2 napkins as a result. Also, if you're not going to include ketchup, can you at least ask me if I want some? Girl at the counter should probably write orders down as well if she can't remember it. Tried to give my food to someone else. Food ain't cheap, better was deserved. If the pork itself wasn't so good, 1 star and never return. I'll give it some time and try again soonish. read more

This is the second year in a row we've eaten at The Smokin' Robinsons stand the Kitsap County Fair. My wife and i were both disappointed last time, and were disappointed again. For me, the Robinsons committed the 1st sin of smoking that is all too common among many BBQ places that have a wood-burning smoker along with piles of split logs for smoking out front: the food they serve lacks the smoky goodness that the smell of that smoker is preparing your mouth for. I tried their St. Louis ribs last time so for this visit I was really interested in trying the beef brisket. On the positive side, for $16 they didn't skimp on the meat. A healthy portion of sliced brisket (with noticeable smoke rings) filled its section of the styrofoam container. A well-smoked-and-seasoned brisket is truly a thing of gastronomic wonder. Unfortunately for me, this brisket was mediocre, very much under-seasoned and with just a hint of smoky flavor. But it took me a while to actually taste the meat because it had been slathered over with an in-your-face BBQ sauce. The sauce wasn't particularly spicy, but it completed overwhelmed the flavor of the meat. And that is the 2nd sin of smoking: BBQ sauce should always be served on the side for that very reason. Let the meat stand on its own; those who like their smoked meat covered with BBQ sauce can pour it on themselves. Of the two sides I chose, I liked the cheesy mashed potatoes a bit more than the potato salad. The latter was a little dark-colored, for my tastes, and the flavor was just OK. The cheese made the mashed potatoes a bit more flavorful, but a bit more salt and pepper would'e brightened it up. My wife was very disappointed with her pulled pork sandwich. The meat was slathered with that same same obtrusive sauce, and she didn't like the taste of either one--at all. I took a healthy sample of the pork without the sauce, and like the brisket, it also lacked proper seasoning and there was an almost total lack of smoke flavor in the meat. She was also disappointed with the flavor of the potato salad. She didn't bother to finish her meal. Now, for us smoked food lovers, BBQ is a very personal thing. I do a lot of backyard smoking and I season and smoke everything to my tastes, which my family shares. For smoke flavoring, I prefer what I call "round" smoke, soft smoke that enhances the food and doesn't overpower it. It's more than the hint of smoke that I tasted with the Robinson's brisket, but far less than what turns some people off to smoked foods. For really good beef brisket and pulled pork, especially in larger quantities, the meat needs to be smoked over wood for 10-11 hours minimum (wrapping the meat during the dreaded stall is a discussion for another venue). I have no idea how long the Robinsons smoke their meats, or at what temperature, when they're away from their restaurant, but for me and my wife the brisket and pulled pork weren't smoked nearly long enough. After having tried and been disappointed by five different BBQ places in this county, I just need to keep hoping that a BBQ restaurant that can rival the great, legendary BBQ joints of Texas, Kansas City, Memphis, and other places far, far away will open here. BBQ is super awesome and it's the best moist cornbread in WA. But my real passion is their fried green tomatoes Def worth a visit for the fried green tomatoes and fried okra, they have a great ranch dressing to round everything out. The kids all love the Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes ... I'm sure there very good also but I think the have atleast bacon fat. They really get down with their bacon fat ... and I don't eat pork. read more

Things I did like: brisket was flavorful and tender, and I loved the Mac and cheese, potato salad (had dill in it which I loved), and fried green tomatoes Things I didn't like: Rib tips and smoked chicken were dry (would've been ok if smothered in bbq sauce) although the flavor was good... and the collared greens were too salty- I know collared greens are supposed to be salty, I've eaten a lot of collared greens, but these were just too salty (Evan ALMOST too salty for my dad who LOVES salty food) Overall, giving it 4 stars for the items that I did enjoy. This place is amazing. Really good BBQ! 10/10 recommend. They moved and are with McCoulds now but still same quality!

Awesome food but pricey! Tho had smaller servings of limited items, no "Senior" rate or servings of most items. Very confusing as to where and how to enter and where to order carry out. But after initial hesitant person who went off and left me, I meandered thru expansive setting--open, definitely casual and entries definitely cater to mIlitary with strict guidelines posted as well as posted phone roster for rides home. Expansive liquor selection including high-end bourbons. Even has Weller's Reserve and Weller's Antique 125!!! Shots QUITE reasonably cost. Very impressive selection and affordable to common man!!! Order out ready within 10-15 mins and server was quite attentive even during wait. Really enjoyed our chat about the history and people. They also have a food truck. Definitely more of a western watering place tho but very clean, not loud, not raucous. I definitely plan to return but due to cost, not as often as I would like unfortunately. The hotlink sandwich with fried okra and BBQ burger with fries just like downhome. And a generous shot of each Weller's while waiting really made the visit (and conversation) worthwhile. Have already talked and texted the experience around and since no retail Weller's in KITSAP, I'm looking forward to when I can return. What I learned at The Smokin Robinsons: 1) Soul food is not the opposite of health food. A meal at this place just nourishes a different part of us... our bellies and our (duh) souls. 2) Even after running a Marathon or having a baby, I cannot imagine that I would ever be able to finish a meal here. Portions are ENORMOUS. (The chicken meal came with three thighs and if I ate it all, so would I.) 3) There is still such thing as hidden gems and this is one of them. Make the drive. I can do nothing but praise this place. The attention and dedication placed into their food is obvious. The owners and staff are amazing people. If for some strange reason you haven't eaten this food yet you must find an excuse to go out and remedy that fact. Okay, so it may seem strange for me to ride out here when I don't eat red meat nor can have wheat/gluten, but that doesn't mean my family members follow the same diet! I have had their potato salad which is delish and their sweet potato fries are yum too! But let's talk about what the fam loves to get. The Big Daddy - Sis's favorite and it is a monster! Each time she orders it I swear it gets bigger. She loves the fact she has leftovers she can take to work and show off lol She also loves their mozzarella sticks. The best comment I heard her say was the first time we ate there she said "finally take out food that taste good!" Praise indeed! You don't expect great barbecue far away from the South, but Smokin Robinsons is definitely an exception. I had a 3 meat combo that came with 2 sides and cornbread. The meats I had were rib tips, pulled pork and brisket. I loved all of them, but the brisket was my favorite. My sides were potato salad and fried pickles. The fried pickles were pickle spears. They were excellent. The potato salad was fresh and tasty. I highly recommend this place!! read more

Incredible! Gumbo is on point and killing it!! Brisket was tender! Large portions and did I say the Gumbo was freakin' amazing...? Well it is!
