This used to be one of our go-to spots for a date, however, our visit today was disappointing. The menu has changed and they no longer have a few of our favorite items such as fried pickles and Tetris tots for a side. The service and the food were just ok. We tried a new menu item - the buffalo chicken flatbread and it had little flavor and even less cheese. I think the most disappointing aspect of our visit today was how much the appearance of the restaurant has gone down. There was duct tape literally throughout all the walls in the restaurant. I'm not exaggerating, everywhere you look you will find duct tape. They did try to match by getting red tape to blend in with the colors of the walls, but it's still blatantly obvious. I used the restroom before I left and it was very dirty. We will not be returning any time soon. Very disappointed because as I said before, this used to be a go-to / top pick restaurant for us when going out to eat. The Third Lake location has definitely gone down hill. For the amount of money we spent there, I'd at least like to not being staring at duct tape and have a clean restroom to use! read more

Un. REAL. The BBQ is so absolutely luscious, I have a hard time believing there's anyone better at it. My husband, daughter, and I went initially. She had the pulled pork sandwich, and she topped it off with the maple chipotle BBQ. I had the brisket sandwich (nothing better in the world, I promise!) and topped that with the white BBQ sauce as well as the Carolina vinegar. Hubs had the rib tips and LOVED them the first time. Not so much the second (don't remember what he said about them, though). Both of them loved the cornbread, while I had the fries, which are oh-so-yummy and fresh. The foodnis served hot and quick! This is our go to place. The BBQ Production is out of this world. Make sure you have an appetite because it's HUGE but well worth it. I've even fallen in love with the mini nachos plate (for me it's enough for a meal). Service is always great and I love that they know us and everyone says "hey" when we come in. And the bartender is willing to make me a drink even if it's not on the "menu" (had a Tom Collins for the first time and it was fantastic! So I rarely write reviews but this place stood out for me. We are in town for my Daughters Navy PIR/graduation. Our previous meals this weekend were okay. I decided to do some research and get a really good meal for our last night in Chicago. Yelp had rave reviews so thought we would see what that was all about. My boys are big meat eaters. My Husband is a grill and meat smoking "pro" so he was all kinds of excited. Anyway, I had the pulled pork nachos, son had pulled pork sammich with goulda Mac n Cheese and Hubby had ribs. I know... Let me explain. Super excited to try this place out and was so disappointed. The service and atmosphere was great. We had pulled pork nachos as appetizer, then a combo plate of BBQ chicken and brisket of beef and a full slab BBQ ribs plate. The sauces they have table side were very good and unique. The food is plenty but quality for pricing not so much at all. The sides were add ons gouda Mac n cheese very dry and cold not creamy at all. The cornbread I did not care for at all a mushy gummy tasteless mess. The appetizer pork nachos were just ok. I did like the taste of the pulled pork even though it was a bit dry and old tasting. The BBQ chicken was cold on the inside and meat was dry and not made to order. The brisket of beef was crumbly, I called the waiter cause I swore it was pulled pork they served me but he checked with kitchen and said it was beef. Funny how it was so unremarkable tasting that I could not identify beef or pork. The slab of BBQ ribs were also very dry and old tasting not made that day. I will say I did not expect the pulled pork for the nachos to be fresh made that I can understand a couple days old meat for nachos. But would hope at these prices they charge you that it would be served fresh made daily BBQ not so much that it has to be made to order cause its smoked and takes time I get that but at least that day in morning to be made. It was at least a couple days old. We arrived right at lunch time when they opened. Overall if I was guaranteed it was made that same day I would totally come back. I also went to a soft opening last week and the food was fantastic!! We sat at the bar and the bartender waited on us. She was great, funny and attentive to anything we needed. I had the brisket, my friend had the nachos. Both were excellent! Kris has a great selection of sauces for any taste - including the Sam Adams sauce that he created - so I was good with the sweeter sauce, and my friend had the zestier sauce. I actually went back at dinner so my boyfriend could try it. He enjoyed the brisket, and I had the salad (had to branch out a bit) and it was great too. We will definitely be going back here - prices are reasonable, our service was good, and the food can't be beat. read more

We had an amazing totally top notch waitress: Carrie! The atmosphere was nice as well and the Bloody Mary was perfect. Ribs were the best: plumb and juicy. However, the chicken was way over smoked/cooked, and the beef brisket was salty and dry. The baked beans were watery and lacked flavor and the same can be said of the coleslaw. After all the great reviews on here, my girlfriend and I had to try this place out for ourselves. We can definitely say that we were not disappointed at all. The food here is amazing! The BBQ pulled pork nachos is a must. I could probably eat that every day if I had to. My girlfriend enjoyed her smoked gouda mac n cheese with pulled chicken. If you love cheese then you'll love this because not only did it have cheese sauce, but it also had melted cheese on top. I had the combo with half slab of ribs and chicken. Both were pretty delicious and juicy. They also give you 6 different complimentary sauces that you could use for your meats which are all unique and tasty. Everything here was pretty amazing but the thing that stood out the most was the service. Everyone was so friendly from the moment we walked in the restaurant. Our server was the best! Her name is Wilma. She took the time to explain everything from all the different sauces to how the meats are cooked and just seemed pretty knowledgeable about the menu overall. Great brisket with good smoke a nice firm bite - that was the best part. I had the gouda mac & cheese and beans for my side - both were very good and the beans had some nice chunks of meat in there. The pork ribs were unnecessarily slathered on both sides with a candy-sweet sauce inspired by Applebee's (not a compliment). If there was any good smoke or spice rub flavor underneath, I couldn't tell. A nice variety of draft beers. My 24 oz. draft had a 2" head on it so it was more like 18 oz. The atmosphere is great here and the food is really god. Also, the sauces are awesome! The only issues I had were that it was very overpriced in my opinion. Especially for the desserts. $8.00 for a tiny piece of pie that was a bit undercooked. Also we had ordered nachos and they asked if we wanted our sour cream and jalepenos on them or on the side and we said on the side and they charged us extra for them. To me, it's little things like that, that bother me. If they are extra let me know and I will be glad to pay it but I don't want to be surprised on the bill. Also, I was charged for my club soda which is carbonated water. I rarely get charged for those since it doesn't cost anything to make and shouldn't be categorized as a soft drink. It's really tough for a new restaurant to find it's groove, but these guys are giving it 100%. It's worth the wait. Get there early as all their food is cooked slowly so when they are out, they are out. They won't serve something if it doesn't meet their quality standards. I think this place is as solid as any BBQ place in the county. We had the ribs and they were good. A little over done as they were falling off the bone. Some people like them that way, but I prefer a little tug to the bone. Pulled pork was good as well as the brisket. I wouldn't spice up the ribs with the sauce because some people don't like spicy. I do, but two of our party didn't. I agree with some other comments regarding the sides. Sides are always an issue in BBQ places in the north. There seems to be a stingy attachment to them. Only one side is unusual with a meal. Also, there is an up charge on some of them. Also a bit unusual. Could be five stars, but the staff was disorganized and the sides are a concern. This happens when a catering business opens a restaurant. Takes them a while to understand the restaurant biz. However, as I said, a solid place for BBQ. read more
