I was really looking forward to the donuts here because of the good reviews and I love supporting small shops, but to be honest, I hated the donuts.... the stars are mostly for the service. I asked for two ham and cheese croissants and they only gave me one, which turned out to be a good thing because my husband and I both did it like it. I asked them not to heat it so that I could just heat it when I got home, but they gave it to me cut in half like a sandwich. When I got home and heated it, most of the cheese oozed out. I discovered this donut shop after reading Yelp reviews. I have been wondering whether there was a donut shop near me, other than Winchell's. To my surprise and delight, I found B C's, which is very close to me, and open 24 hours! I came here at 5pm on a weekday, so their donuts were not fresh. I got an apple fritter and a couple of glazed donuts. That apple fritter was ginormous! I ate half of it right away, and couldn't eat dinner that night kuz I was too full. I ate the other half the next morning for breakfast. I can't wait to come here at night when the donuts are fresh! read more

This is my favorite donut place in Pasadena. It's inexpensive, they're fast, and nice. Like most donut shops, they only take cash. There is also very limited seating in the store. It's only a few seats. I always take my donuts to go. I really like their old fashioned donuts and their cake blueberry donuts. Those are great, and there's usually only two of them. Wow , this place is rude!! Plus, their posted opening and closing times don't mean a thing. Often, there's a faded yellow sign on the door saying "be back at 8:45 pm", however several times we've seen store closed way into the night and store owner comes in whenever they feel like it. They have nothing unique or special other than regular old donuts, coffee and sandwiches that you can just as easily get across from the gas stations surrounding this quickly dwindling and fading donut shop. The store itself has all kinds of dusty and faded out signs. Their supposed opening and closing times is posted on a ripped and torn up piece of paper, so you already get the idea that this business doesn't care anymore and is hankering on it's last few legs. When you come in and order, you're treated like you're annoying or bothering them. Also, they didn't want to accept anything other than cash, which makes me suspect that they are cutting corners with the IRS/Taxes. Btw, don't EVER use their ATM machine. It doesn't work and when you tell the owner about it, he'll make it a point to embarrass you in front of other customers by yelling that you must not have any money in your account. In reality it is because he has failed to take responsibility in maintaining the mechanical function of the machine within his store. I don't think these people realize that they are in USA and that here business is operated differently than in other parts of the world. Cutting corners could end up in legal trouble and rudeness could end up burning a serious hole in your profit margins and ultimately the death of your business. This business is in serious need of an attitude adjustment towards their customer base. An inquisitive investigation to the local public library for books on customer service would be time well spent for this owner. We'll be going to the competitor across the street for our coffee and donuts or either Starbucks from now on. read more

My daughter loves donuts and this is my go to donut shop. The family who run the shop are all very nice and they have always been able to fill my order request even last minute. They are cash only (which is not a favorite of mine but seems to be normal for donut shops) and the parking lot is always a pain but I like supporting a family business. read more

So I ran into this place on accident when I was looking for an early morning eat around 6:30 AM. I've driven by many times but never stopped by, mainly because I don't eat donuts much. But man, was I pleasantly surprised when I ordered a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin and a cinnamon roll twist. 100x better than anything you could ever get at any fast food place! I especially loved the breakfast sandwich as it was a real egg, and the English muffin was toasted with the melted cheese on the ham! They also have tapatío and ketchup that was amazing on my breakfast sandwich. I also loved the outstanding customer service they provided, greeting me warmly and letting me know they could answer any questions I may have. Visiting donut shops lately for coffee instead of the usual coffee shops I frequent, I have been on the hunt for the best old fashioned, chocolate frosted donut I can find. So far a donut shop in 'da hood is in the lead with a delicious, melt in your mouth, chocolate in every nook 'n cranny old fashioned. Of the several shops visited so far most have run out by evening, however. So I am left having just coffee as I really don't eat donuts much. I have tried a suspect cronut or two, though. One tried right here at BC's. I liked this shop the first time I came a few years ago. Returning in the evening helped me understand why. It is just an ordinary SGV shop. Lottery tickets, sandwiches, ice cream, cigs. And it is simple. But they do have a walk-up window on the street and several benches for outside seating around the shop. It is brightly lit and clean, and on a busy corner where you can watch drivers honk and scream. A nice touch is a wooden bench right outside the door with a newspaper box set right beside. Inside is clean and well organized for customer self service. The bench seating is a bit close in but if you think of it as intimate or cozy it makes it better lol. But anyway those are the things that set it apart from the several other shops I have visited recently which garner no review at all. Parking can be tight when busy as it shares space with a popular taco place and a massage parlor. I would just have to say make more chocolate old fashioned donuts so you have some left in the evening The cronut I had here at BC's? It was better then the fat, doughy brick I had at one popular L.A. shop. This cronut is flaky layers up top and denser toward the middle and bottom. It was also too heavily "glazed" imo. I am not sure what the perfect cronut is but I have a feeling this one isn't it. It was fine, however. Just not like the pictures I see of cronuts with light, airy pastry throughout.. read more

This is a true neighborhood spot just south of the 210 in NE Pasadena. It has become a routine on the weekends for my wife and I to indulge in BC's delicious old fashioned donuts. This place is great! We've only just recently discovered it and it's super close to our house. It's a small mom and pop shop but the donuts are delicious and soft--we actually prefer these to the other major chains. The creme brulee donuts are a must. Filled donuts were decent too. Also, the breakfast sandwiches are yummy. Everything feels freshly made. We really want to come back to try some of the specialty donuts that we see in some of the previous reviews. On occasions I might have a donut craving only about every couple of months. I have driven past BC's Donuts dozens of times and wondered what they were like. After seeing the reviews on Yelp finally tried one of the apple fritters and a maple bar. Only $1.95 and they were great. Nice and fresh and chewy. So whenever your craving something sweet, fried in grease, that will clog your arteries check out BC's Donuts. You won't have to eat the rest of the day. There's just nothing like that wad of greasy, sugary dough sitting in the pit of your stomach all day. read more

I enjoyed the atmosphere in this family ran donut shop. I ordered a turkey egg and cheese croissant to go and it was delicious. I also ordered 2 donuts however, I was told there is a $10 minimum for cards. I had enough cash to cover the sandwich, with the money I planned on tipping with. That is the reason why they still get 5 stars. I asked if I could try a donut hole to help with my sweet tooth and they were happy to offer me a sample. Very apologetic the whole time. I was on my way to work and my local donut shop was out of ham 'n cheese croissants so I stopped by this place. although it costs 75 cents more here I went ahead and ordered. I was craving me some ham 'n cheese croissant!!! what I saw next shocked the hell out of me. she took a regular croissant, sliced it, took out a package of processed ham and white american cheese from the refrigerator and proceeded to stuff it in the croissant. she then proceeded to put it in the microwave. WTF! first of all your suppose to use swiss cheese. who wants to pay three dollars for something that was thrown in the microwave when it should've been oven baked in the first place! I was actually going to tell her to cancel my order but was too embarrassed. the croissant was soggy from being in the microwave. I though to myself 'if this is how they make a ham n cheese croissant, then how the hell do they bake their donuts?'. she pulled a fast one on me, although I did not try anything else, this pretty much ruined my experience. Moist, with the right amount of cinnamon and the glaze had the perfect sweetness. The people working there were friendly and attentive. AHHH I never though I'd miss a donut shop so much. I used to come here almost every day when I worked in the office building down the street, but haven't been back since I started a new job in Covina. There isn't anything too fancy with this place but they do the little things right. The two owners and their daughter were always very friendly and added a nice personal touch which made the visits pleasant. Their variety of donuts was pretty solid, with everything from pink cakes to fruit burritos. But my favorite is and always will be the apple fritter. Apple fritters should be crunchy around the edges and soft and gooey in the middle. This place does it right. Writing this review is making me want one so bad! The absolute best apple fritter in town! It's so gooey and crispy all at the same time. This is a masterpiece of confectionary arterial clogging! Bring cash (ATM in shop) and expect super cheap prices. They also serve breakfast and lunch sandwiches, but the signs for those are difficult to see at first.
