This small shop doesn't have much seating, but it does have a counter to sit at as well as a small section of pasta, sauces, drinks, and various other things for you to purchase when you walk in. The menu here isn't massie, but you don't really need it to be at an Italian sandwich shop so who cares? I ended up ordering the Chicken Confit which description is "Our newest sandwich! Dark meat chicken sourced from Cream Co. Meats, confited in olive oil, then tossed it with an orange-Calabrian chili agrodolce spiked with fennel seed and garlic that's bright, deeply savory, a touch spicy, and a little addictive. It all comes together with spicy arugula and tangy pecorino Toscano on a Bub & Grandma's baguette.". The sandwich was about $15 and I gotta say, it's not very big and it didn't really do the job of filling me up and neither did my wife's. The flavour wasn't bad at all, it was solid enough and I don't have any complaints other then It was simply kind of small for the price. Overall, Ferrazzani's Pasta & Market is fine. I didn't leave blown away by anything, and in fact I was left still kind of wanting to eat. Stopped by this Italian spot after getting coffee and I'm glad I tried it! Got the salami sandwich which was very well made. The salami and sauce really blended together well and the cheese in the sandwich was a highlight for me. Service was very friendly as well. I had some time today to try a new lunch spot and I ordered the salami sandwich as is. It was the perfect hint of spice and everything was delicious. The bread was fresh and crispy and it did not cut the roof of my mouth. The salami was fresh and thinly sliced. The spread was slightly spicy and the cheese was fresh too. It also had arugula that paired all of it perfectly. The service was awesome and they suggested a drink to go with the sandwich and chips. It was so clean and not crowded which was nice. When Lincoln first opened nearby it established this block as a place to be and when they closed, shops like Stumptown and Home State literally took over and now Ferrazzani's and its neighbor Kismet are just stacking it on. Now when can we have this synergy on the Eastside of Pasadena too? Anyway, the sandwiches are delicious, albeit a bit pricey for the size of them, but the quality of ingredients is there. They use enriched flour to make their pastas and for all of us who have visited or lived in Italy we know what a difference in taste it makes. Hey so I've been here twice. They ran out of sandwiches when we came by noon on a Saturday, so I picked up the frozen lasagna, the antipasto and summer squash salads and the prosciutto with melon. Then, the next Monday or so, on a slower day, my husband ordered and picked up the mortadella and the salami sandwiches. Madon. This place is more like a boutique-y Italian deli with only bistro seating outside. Next door is the mini-factory where they make their homemade pastas and you can see them doing it like it's an open kitchen or how Din Tai Fung lets you see how the dumplings are crimped. I love their salads because they exude that traditional nonna love with a modern attention to detail. The antipasto has chick peas, radicchio, small cubes of pecorino romano, sliced castelvertrano green olives, tiny cubes of salami, thinly mandolined fennel and red onion. With every bite, you can taste all of the salty goodness from the cheese and meat coupled with the tangy crispy bite of the veg. The star of that day was the summer squash salad. These were tiny little farmer's market type yellow and zucchini squashes cut in little medallions and roasted along with red bell pepper and onions. I loved the additional freshness from the raw mint leaves. That lasagna was ridiculously tasty. I cooked it at home from frozen, following the directions. Of course, the first cooking of it left it a bit watery (even after cooling), so I drained it of the liquid by pouring some of it out and getting it back in the oven to crisp up the top layer of cheese and that made it perfect. I love the many layers. Sometimes you don't need anything but fresh sheets of pasta cheese and sauce; you don't need meat. Visit #2 got me to try their sandwiches and my fave is the salami. I like that spicy calabrese salami coupled with the cooling cream cheese based Calabrian "butter." It's spicy saltiness is well paired with the added brie-like Taleggio and the lemony pepperiness of the baby arugula. The mortadella sandwich wasn't as balanced; a bit too salty and fatty for me. Mortadella is basically a top end kind of bologna. The straciatella (a rich buffalo like mozzarella) is rich and creamy and the pistachio pesto was yum, just maybe needs to be balanced with something acidic - like a slice of heirloom tomato? Overall, I really liked the variety of things they had to offer that were cooked already, the sandwiches, the salads and the staff are super friendly. I hope they do well. Try driving up Altadena Dr., passing by Eaton Canyon, and enjoy the scenery to work up an appetite. read more

I drive about 20 miles to this shop. I had hoped for more take home items other than a few frozen shells and lasagna. The lasagna was $34 which I thought was very expensive, but I bought it anyway. For my birthday this year, I was craving a homemade lasagna. After checking around pasadena for options, I was delighted to find this woman-owned Italian market. They have an oven-ready lasagna that you cook from frozen and O M Geeeeeee! It was creamy, delicate and delicious. Everyone was friendly and the shop was well-stocked with tempting goodies. When I saw the sandwich menu, maybe I was hungry, but I ordered almost everything - Mortadella, artichoke, prosciutto and the salami (minus the veg one - which I might just come back to try). The pesto and gioia straciatella paired with the mortadella was divine. I want to come back and try the prosciutto sandwhich. I took a star off because the service wasn't really the best... which was a little disappointing because usually mom and pop shops have the best service.
