Cool quotes cover the walls; my kind of place.
    Christine P.

My husband turned me on to this place after I purchased a Groupon for him for sandwiches (he says shouldn't be missed) but we're here for breakfast. My pessimistic Manhattan-raised mom says they don't have real NY water (it makes a difference) but OMG! These New York-style bagels were perfect with scrumptious flavored cream cheese (my fave is the REAL strawberries; they don't use fake nastiness). With a hot chai tea, it was simple and yet SO satisfying. AND they offer a tofu version of cream cheese that passed my NY mom's test - WHAT?! The same woman who swore she would never eat tofu? The best part of coming early in the morning? The day old section!! Best deal in the city! This is definitely going on the lists of regular visit and bring visitors to places!

I've had the queens twice this year as breakfast and it honestly tastes better each time. The guacamole, turkey, bacon, and sauce is all really good and tasty. I've been to a lot of cafe shops and no sandwich comes close to queens (at least in my opinion. Would highly recommend this shop if your looking to any breakfast. They have a lot of sandwiches and bagel options as well as coffee options. Only downside is that they close somewhat early. 10/10 though!

Convenient place around campus for a quick coffee but the coffee isnt that great... at all. The brewed and iced coffee are decent but the espresso drinks taste like there is not coffee in them. I personally always gets shots of espresso over ice, which is normally strong but theirs tastes like normal coffee put over ice. Get an iced coffee! The best affordable thing on their menu if you don't want to spend $5 on a drink. They brew Cafe Motto! Yes, i come back because it's convenient but definitely not a first choice! Super pricey too in my opinion. Not the original store so maybe that's why too.

    Daily Mexican mocha fix.
    Philip R.

I used to go to the Starbucks in East Commons last semester, but found that the line to get coffee could get crazy during peak hours. I started getting Mexican Mochas from here since I was in the library on a daily basis either studying or trying to catch up on all the reading my professors assigned. I've mostly been to the one located in the 24/7 area of the library. During Finals week, they were open everyday and pretty much ran 24/7 which was a savior for those of us staying in the library late/overnight. I've also been to their location by PS1. There's never really a line there since I think most people frequent the location near ENS. The 24/7 location has pretty cool employees who seem really chill and are really easy to talk to/sympathize with all of students spending our day in the library. The drinks are usually $3-$4 and they also have a fridge with sports drinks if you're low on electrolytes. They also have sandwiches and breakfast burritos if you're hungry, but I usually opt for the bagel w/ cream cheese for $2. They also have bananas, cashews, peanuts, and assorted pastries (the pumpkin bread was amazing during the Fall semester). Definitely check this place out if you can't find the Starbucks on the East side like myself (I think it's in the new building but I haven't ventured there yet). Also, if you don't want to lose your precious seat/table in the 24/7 area then this place is perfect since it's right there.

There were still lots of people having brunch and enjoying their bagels. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese bagel on a jalapeno cheese bagel. There was plenty of egg, melty American cheese and a couple of pieces of bacon. It wasn't salty and the actual jalapeno on the bagel was a bit spicy. The bread itself was crunchy and soft, if that makes any sense. This was delicious and even better when you add some hot sauce to it. The hubs got the pizza bagel on a plain bagel and this wasn't so exciting. It had pepperoni and a good amount of it but we weren't too impressed with it. The Jersey Girl was good too. We appreciated the Taylor ham and finally glad we were able to try this. It's almost like spam but not as salty. This was on a plain bagel as well. I would get this again, as well as the bacon, egg and cheese bagel. We also ordered the lox and dill cream cheese to take home and ordered a jalapeno cheese, Asiago, plain, salt and two cinnamon raisin. All bagels need to be toasted. The cinnamon raisin was a nice treat, not too sweet but wishing it did have sugar on it. The lox and dill cream cheese was so so so so so good with all the other bagels we got. You can definitely taste and see all the lox and dill in the cream cheese. I would order all these again. It was just so so good. The place is also cute and the staff are super friendly. Some of the sandwiches are a bit steep but for good bagels, I'll pay for it. Overall, I would definitely return on another random weekday.

The cream cheese had good flavor too. Like with all fresh cream cheeses, I wish the cream cheese had more tang. It was very loud inside and so the gla taking my order misheard me and they gave me an everything bagel sandwich with jalapeño cheese cream cheese. They were very attentive and nice when I told them about the error and rectified it quickly and let me keep the sandwich bagel. It was good but just had too much cream cheese stuff inside for my liking. But it was a very generous amount since prices are higher than I'm used to paying for a bagel and schmear.

They have many vegan items here, which is great! I came in to try their summer seasonal donuts. What I got 1.Shorty cakes ($5)- a filled strawberry shortcake donut with a strawberry short cake crumble and fresh strawberry 2. It was on the sweeter side, but you could taste the black sesame flavor pretty well and the espresso If you've had the Good Humour strawberry shortcake bar, the topping is essentially that but in donut form. The parking is a bit tough to find in this area as there is no private lot and there is all street parking. I got the island boi sandwich on a sesame bagel, a maple donut, a strawberry shorty (seasonal), and some ube donut holes. Service was very transactional, so there was nothing standout but also nothing bad to say. The store is in North park, so naturally parking is a nightmare, but since I ordered ahead, I just used one of the 15 min parking spots out front. I was in and out so I didn't stop to really check out the shops decor either. The good: the breakfast sandwich was phenomenal, the crusted spam and garlic chili sauce paired so well with the rest of the flavors. The strawberry shortcake donut, which was filled with a strawberry "cheesecake" filling was very good as well. The donut dough was light and airy, and there was a generous amount of filling. The ehh: I wasn't super impressed with the maple donut, it may just be because most of their classic donuts are vegan, but the texture was strangely chewy to me, and the maple glaze just didn't hit. The donut holes just tasted like sugar coated donuts, I didn't taste any hint of ube/taro, not to mention they are way smaller than the average donut holes (4 for $1). Overall, I highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches, I definitely want to try some of the other specialty ones. As for the donuts themselves, I just don't think the classic donuts are to my taste. I would like to try another specialty one and update eventually.
