When I arrived the front desk staff were warm and welcoming. It was my first time there so she showed me around and explained the layout. Now for the massage. Their prices, packages and great Yelp reviews were all selling points that solidified my plan to book with them, and I was not disappointed. I initially planned to book on the website as I never prefer phone calls if I can avoid them, lol. Unfortunately, the website did not show any availability for the day I was hoping to go, but I figured it was because of the short 1-day turnaround. In an unusual move, I called D'lor just to be sure they didn't have availability and lucky me - they actually did have a spot. YAY! Bridget at the front was so patient and helped accommodate me for the day/time and package that I was looking for. Upon arrival, it was easy to find a parking space and head right on in. I was greeted warmly and given a short form to complete before heading in. The salon was booked and busy, set in a separate portion of the business, it was so peaceful as ladies hustled in and out. Once I finished my form I was taken to the ladies dressing area and given a locker that included a robe and slides. The space was intimate, offering a private toilet, sauna, and more, all in one space. Once I got changed I went and took a seat in the sitting room. This space was sooo comfy, I almost hesitated a bit when my masseuse came and got me lol. I hate that I didn't catch either of my providers name because they were both amazing! I went with one of their February packages that included a 60min massage, 60 min facial and a steam bath. I forgot about the steam bath but, wow, my massage and facial were great. My massage was nice, not life-changing, but it was a good experience. That facial? Amazing. After switching my medication recently, my skin has been struggling and I really needed a good facial and extractions. Miss Ma'am got me right!! She got under my skin in the best way, she even snatched a random hair that was on my chin without me asking LOL. From calling in for my appointment, to my arrival, and exit - this was a fantastic experience! I will be running back to have another spa day at D'lor.

His long, deep strokes across my feet, especially around my bunion, were so soothing that I drifted off to La La Land... only to be startled awake by a loud snore. MY loud snore. Momentarily disoriented, I realized I had dozed off. I looked up and noticed the masseur, wearing a baseball cap, paused mid-massage, hands still in position. Embarrassed, I gave a light jerk of my feet, and he resumed the massage. I must've dozed off again, because once more, I snored myself awake. This time, I didn't jump--I peeked through half-closed eyelids and noticed something strange. The masseur seemed to be resting as well, head down, cap low, hands frozen in place. Another slight foot jerk prompted him to continue, and I stayed awake to watch. Sure enough, he adjusted himself and picked back up again. I can't say for certain, but it felt like he stopped massaging whenever I fell asleep. I sincerely hope that's not standard practice. If it is, customers deserve better--especially if we're paying for a full hour of service, awake or not.

She did give me a full hour of massaging anyway, so no complaints there. I definitely should have arrived at least 5 minutes early, though! About the massage. The website indicated that deep tissue would cost more, but it was plenty "deep" and rough, as is. Elise did, of course, ask me to let her know if it was ever too much, but I don't like to give alot of critique during massages; I like to let them do their thing as much as possible. But I did have to speak up when it felt like she was repeatedly kneading a softball into my neck!! Some people may love massages like that, but it was honestly far too painful for me. She had some moves where it felt like I was being choked and when she kneading into my scalp, I was wincing in pain. I get that I'm tight and she was just trying to loosen it, but it was just way, way too much pressure! And I am usually one to love deep tissue massages!! When I had no choice but to say that it was too much, she came completely off of my neck instead of just going lighter, which is what I was afraid would happen. Another thing that didn't really jive with me was how much heat and oils she used. I don't really need all that stuff; I'd rather the focus be more on the massage, itself. I was relieved when she finally removed a pile of heating pads that she had stacked onto my back! Even though most of it was not my thing, I think Elise is very nice and caring and talented at what she does! It's also a really nice, private setting. And lots of people will appreciate how strong she is!
