What a terrible experience. Walked in and had asked if there was a chair massage available as I had a smaller window before my flight. Kind woman was like, no problem ill take you right now. All of a sudden a male massage therapist looks at her and says, you must go on break. The lady therapist was more than happy and said I'll be happy to take this client, I shouldn't go into overtime and this guy screams across the room that she has to go on break and that I will have to wait for my massage. There were other customers in there at the time and everyone was thinking, what is the big deal and this ego power tripping massage therapist set was set in his ways. I had an egregiously long layover in Detroit this weekend, and instead of traipsing into the city, I figured I would pamper myself with a massage, manicure, and a blow out... The hot stone massage by Kimmie was excellent, she exceeded my expectation of a solid stand alone massage location, let alone an airport spa facility. MJ did my manicure and made sure that I was fully happy with my nails and made sure to find the perfect length, color, and shape for my lifestyle. Finally Emily was up with what was originally going to be a blow out for my hair, but after a conversation I started about wanting to change my hair in the future, she had some great ideas and I even gave her full creative reign on updating my locks. Well actually I had absolutely nothing done. My wife and I had some time to kill so we came in and scheduled two appointments at 5:30. When we came back at 5:30, my wife had to wait 15 minutes to be seen, and I'm still sitting here (45 mins later) with my thumb...well you know. I asked them to cancel, since I don't want to miss my flight. This is an airport with travelers on a preset schedule. I dint think they get it. Let me first start by saying I do not usually write a review unless it is absolutely the worst experience. Be Relaxed was Extremely disappointing. Showed up an hour and a half before closing and girl at the front desk had an attitude from the minute I approached her. I waited for her to get off the phone where she then proceeded to tell me "sorry, we are no longer doing massages tonight. Considering the place was completely empty, I asked why and she told me because we are closing soon. I reminder her that "Be Relaxed" her location did not close for and hour and a half. Her answer was "sorry sir. She then told me I could sit in one of the massage chairs but that would cost me $25 for 15 minutes. I again asked her why with the place empty and her location being open and there being two employees there, why she could not accommodate me. She said, sorry sir. I get that sometimes things happen but the fact that I couldn't get an answer and that she had such an attitude made me never want to go there again. I would point out that I fly into Detriot regularly and due to a back and neck issue, go to this place ever flight I take. Very disappointing. I would save my money on the over priced mediocre massages and go to a place that appreciates its loyal customers. I know I will. read more

My flight was delayed 3 hours on Saturday while connecting through Detroit. With time to kill, I decided to visit the Spa for a Chair Massage. After a short wait, I met with Derrick and have to say, he is by far the best massage therapist I've ever met in 20+ years... the amount of pressure was perfect and stayed consistent throughout the 30 minutes I was in the chair. I never walked away feeling better - and 24 hours later still feel terrific - despite being on a plane or sitting in an airport for 15 hours yesterday. Now that I've experienced this level of pressure, I don't believe anyone else will ever do. I now hope my next flight will be delayed again - so I can spend another 30 minutes with Derrick at the Spa next week... I can't recall a time when I've said "I wish I could be delayed at the airport"... I'm also thinking about re-routing my flights through DTW just to visit the Be Relax Spa... this place is worth it and a great way for you to relax. Wow. What an expected surprise. Popped in for a massage during my layover and was lucky enough to get Amateis. She does not mess around! Friendly and professional and incredibly strong. I booked two minute with her but then did an additional ten minutes because it was so incredible. Her skills rival massages I've had at five star hotels. They also offer mani/pedis and the chairs there are very high end - powerful and lots of features. It was $40 for 20 minutes and worth every penny. You'll want to see Amateis! read more

Took a chance and stopped here not expecting anything fantastic but I got amazing service and my nails look stunning for a regular polish quick manicure. My manicurist Kimmy was incredibly welcoming, friendly and good at what she does (which included stress relieving conversation!). I'm a klutz and totally dug a hole in my nail with my credit card while paying and Kimmy was nice enough to redo it for me! The rest of the staff was also attentive and kind. I visited Be Relaxed at DTW for the first time while on a business trip. I had a pedicure by Selena. OMG! She was absolutely amazing, fantastic. I've had pedicures from several places, and this pedicure was by far the best. Selena took special care of toes, sometimes I get ingrown nails on the sides - ouch! Selena was able to gently remove them and really was amazing. Selena was pleasant, sweet, and just a pleasure to be around. Completely worth the money. read more

I just spent $47 for the worst manicure and gel remover.She did not clean under my nails she did not clean my cuticles even though I requested the package that included all of that she buffed just the tops and not the sides of the nails and during the gel removal process sanded my cuticles until they bled. As a businesswoman I am stunned. This is my first ever bad review on yelp. Which is a reflection on how bad my experience truly was because I am not a complainer. read more

This was the first time I had a three hour layover which I used for a massage at an airport, and I lucked out. Amanda was understanding and had the right solutions for my over-used shoulders. This is not typical at massage therapy facilities, in fact I hadn't spent time with a massage therapist anywhere in several years let alone and airport (where I'm usually paranoid I might miss a flight), because usually I'm disappointed. I wish I could swing by that spa more often than the once a year I may have the chance. If the others are are good as Amanda, I'll be much more healthy on my connecting flights. read more

Kimmy, who did my pedicure was great! She was really nice to talk to and did a good job on my feet. A couple other members of the staff seemed rude. I had to wait 30 minutes for an appointment then the pedi itself took about an hour. I thought a regular pedi (not gel) would cost around $30 but it was pricy! $55 plus tip! I usually pay $35 for both mani/pedi. I suppose you pay for the convenience in an airport. I just wish they would've been upfront about the cost. read more

She applied a lot of pressure (which I like) and knew what she was doing. Afterward i sat in a massage chair and that was awesome too. I got lucky and didn't have to wait at all but i noticed there was a bit of a wait for people coming in after me. If i ever have a layover in Detroit again I'm going to pre book!! DO NOT GET WAXED HERE. I went in for a Brazilian during a layover and the esthetician, though sweet, had absolutely no idea what she was doing. The process became more and more painful and tedious until she got a piece of wax stuck on my nether regions. I decided I'd had enough of the tugging and pulling and just had to take care of it myself and told her to stop. She contacted a manager who offered to help but after having just peeled off hard wax from my lady bits (along with some skin from the area), I wasn't in the mood be waxed anymore. They did not charge me for the botched wax, but they also didn't offer anything else for my hardship like any other free items/services/etc. This was an extremely traumatic experience right before a 13 hour flight--thankfully Hudson News had hydrocortisone cream!! Long story short this is NOT a waxing salon. Maybe they are good with nails/massages but save yourself the pain and DO NOT GET WAXED HERE. Needless to say, they should not offer services that their employees cannot fulfill. I'm terribly upset with my new half waxed look and will NEVER be going back. read more

With a mechanical on my flight, three hours to wait and a stiff neck, I decided I didn't have anything to lose and bought a 20 min neck & shoulder massage. Great people who know what they're doing, and somehow, in the midst of a crazy busy airport, maintain a nice light spa-ish atmosphere (talk about a daunting task!) Come for the awesome free massage chairs. I counted 7 employees, but only 2 of them actually work. There are only 3 customers so customer employee ratio is low but long wait times for no apparent reason. The staff mostly hangs out smiling and welcoming people as they walk past and insist they are busy. It's a confusing experience. read more
