I am extremely sensitive to this and get sick. I went to the front desk 5 times with no end result asked to speak with a manager and they couldn't be bothered to talk w us. We left a day early and I had to call to get the hold taken off my card fir insadentals. Then they tried charging me 39.99 for something when I wasn't even there. Room is in need of repairs. Floors are dirty, furniture stained, toilet was clogged our first night, beds squeak when you roll over and have strange legs that look like they're about to fall over, the tv in the bedroom doesn't work, the other one has limited channels and is in the kitchen, everything smells like chlorine including the water (heard it's an additive the city/county/state(?) is now adding to the water here (gross)... I could go on. Worst was on our day of checkout, a Sunday. We were awakened to someone knocking LOUDLY at the door b4 9am and trying to open the door. Housekeeping. They don't have DND signs for the doors but why try to clean our room b4 we've checked out? Then another came back at 10:40am doing the same. Again, checkout is 11am and we have a manager approved late checkout of noon. Scary to have someone trying to get into the room every couple hours. Only positive is the location and view. You can get that elsewhere with better maintained rooms and staff that communicates, though. Last complaint....it is a smoke free property. At least it claims to be. People smoked everywhere outside and omg everyone was smoking pot. In their rooms, in their balconies, in the elevators. We couldn't get away from the pot. I have been going to beach colony for a while now and I love it!!! I get to bring my dog and enjoy time there with other guest and their dogs. The only reason I remain is because of the manager there, her name is Leslie. She is one of the nicest people and she makes sure you have everything you need. She makea Sure your stay there is a great one and because of her I continue to return. The rooms are nice and comfy and very clean. I will be returning there in September and cant wait because know my time there will be amazing. Tell you the truth, if Leslie ever leaves I dont think I would return, she's the mailn reason I go to this hotel. If you want great service and a pleasant person to talk to, this is the place to go. I reserved a one bedroom oceanfront room for my stay March 8th-14th 2025. Sorely disappointed as I stayed at Beach Colony Resort two years ago and that room was amazing. This trip, the room was disgustingly dirty and outdated. The bathroom was the worst, as in the "closet" where the hot water tank and furnace was located, that was a fire hazard ready to happen. The furnace filter was falling apart, dirt and dust everywhere in there. However after I went to tell the staff how dirty this room was they did change the filter and sent a cleaning person who did a substandard job of cleaning. Lamps are in disrepair and need replaced, the pots and pans, dishes had food on them. Daily charges, I was charged $12.00 a day to receive a plaque for my window to park in the garage. I did not see one car in that garage with a plaque in their window. I was charged the $15.00 daily resort fee, that was expected. However, a $4.00 daily destination FEE, that I didn't expect and what was that for? Another fee of $15.95 Daily Housekeeping fee, your room is not cleaned daily or at all. I talked to a few owners that were there and they told me their HOA covers cleaning fees. Realize when you book a room at Beach Colony Resort, these "condos" are owned by outside invested people. read more

This was one of my favorite resorts here in MB. It was in the more reasonable side so I thought it would be a typical MB place . When we entered, I was able to have the best check in experience that I ever had. Chris needs a gold medal for hospitality. He was so fabulous that another person checking in and him gave a big smile and he knew her by name. She said her and her family have been staying here for years. The parking deck is attached to the resort (which I love) but it is very limited in 2 way driving space so be prepared for some brutal drivers. Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was absolutely adorable! It felt like we were at an Air BNB more than a hotel. The late out was unique and it had a full kitchen. As far as seating on balcony and dining area- only high tops. The bathroom was great, and so were the beds. The pool area is beautiful and lit so beautifully at night. The pools were very clean and so was the whole interior of the lobby-pool rooms. They have racquetball, and an arcade, too! We even had dinner at the restaurant there. The wings were pretty tasty! I really loved this place and would happily stay here again. read more

My whole life I've been coming here with my family, but it's getting to a point where I almost don't to return. My room smells like bleach, my floor is absolutely disgusting, bath doesn't drain and there are so many KIDS!!!!!!!! Please make an outdoor adult pool for adults in the future please. This place has gone so down hill it's crazy. The management don't care about keeping this place clean and enjoyable. Bring back Fusco's or another restaurant instead of a game room. This place sucks compared to what it used to be. Too many kids, filthy rooms and terrible support given to the current staff. Raise prices. read more

It was early on a Friday evening and there was quite the traffic jam in the Beach Colony driveway. I should have known that might be a bad sign. The line inside was just as long and several people had already checked in but were asking to switch to a different room. Red flag! After 15 minutes in line, I checked in and went up to the room. It had a heavy heavy smell of smoke. The fixtures and furniture were showing their age. The unfortunate thing is that I already knew the likelihood of moving rooms was low. So, there we stayed. Luckily we were able to spend most of the time out of the room. We tried to limit our coming and going because the elevators were terribly slow. I would not stay at Beach Colony again. The experience was not worth the value paid. read more

Could not see out the sliding glass doors went to front desk requesting cleaning supplies and went back to clean the doors Myself something smeared on glass looked like a white paste. I only didn't give it one star because of the oceanfront, and the layout of the condo is kind of nice. But everything else... so run down and so dirty! Toilet doesn't flush well, and you have to wait a few minutes to flush again. After wiping all handles (used 4 washcloths because no paper towels in the kitchen) I decided I'm not touching the dishes. The dishrack looks like they were drying dirty toilet paper on it. The walls in the bathroom are so disgusting that we don't feel safe using towels that hang on the towels hanger. When towels get taken, forget about getting clean ones. It's not cleaning people's fault though. The hotel just doesn't have towels. They wash what's collected in the morning, and give them back about 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Beach towels are only available in the morning. Stinky halls... Breakfast is plentiful but terrible. Had diarrhea in the afternoon from eating it. Will not come here again. read more

I would not recommend this place for a family with small kids. The property itself is in dire need of an update. The parking garage lanes are small but manageable. The elevators are slower than molasses and have no A/C - one of the ones we tried to take to the bottom floor took us up instead, and then stopped with some kind of "emergency power" issue, so we took the stairs down 12 levels. I'm almost positive there was piss in the corners of the stairwell, along with cigarette butts. The entire place was just grimy as hell, everything about it. The only bright point was the front desk staff who fully accommodated me when I told them I couldn't stay there. They canceled my reservation and worked with expedia (who I booked with) to refund my money. Please, please, PLEASE do your research on yelp before you book a hotel. Expedia and Travelocity and other sites don't really do these places any justice. I wish I had read the yelp reviews before booking, because I would've saved time and money and a huge headache if I had known the property was indeed a crap-hole. read more

have been staying at the Beach Colony for 35 years and love the place. However, this year our unit (1007) was subpar. The refrigerator looked like it was dragged in off the beach, there was no coffee table, the plumbing didn't work, the shutters to keep out the early morning sun were missing, and the caulk around the tub was nasty. This unit shouldn't be rented until it is brought up to standards especially to be rented as a premier property. read more

This facility is certainly older, but the condo we stayed in for 3 days was perfect for our need. We stayed in #914 which is a two bedroom ocean view. I'm not sure what the other condos are like, but this one was definitely worth it. It seems totally redone with new furniture and a brand new kitchen. The few staff we encountered were nice. Upon checking in I was given a room on the 10th floor When I went to view the room it was in such poor condition I asked to see another room. I was told that there were only two rooms available and was given the key to a room on the 4th floor. Since I was only given two choices I chose the room on the fourth floor which was slightly better than the room on the 10th floor. I did go back to the front desk and voice my concerns I'll quietly to the front desk staff about the condition of the room on the 10th floor. My family and I stayed at another resort from Sunday to Friday and switched to beach colony for the weekend once we decided to extend out vacation a week before arriving at myrtle beach. Our stay at Beach colony for the two days was very uncomfortable. The condition of the room is beyond acceptable to be a resort. Upon checking out I asked for information to contact a manager and I was given this card with the card to TripAdvisor. I have attached pictures of proof from what we had to Indore for our two day stay. What cannot be seen in the pictures were of the mice that we heard throughout the night while trying to sleep and the refrigerator constantly running throughout the night while trying to sleep and also the patio door was so hard to open and close that we chose not to utilize it much. I did call the front desk to have the door serviced however no one attended to the request. Woke the next morning she tried to make coffee and the coffee maker was broken I also had accumulated trash that morning and called down to housekeeping to ask why there were no extra trash bags in the bottom of the trashcan's for me to be able to remove the trash from the trashcan. I was told that housekeeping would be around and they would take care of it however when I returned later that day the room was still the same. Please note the picture with towel on the floor near the toilet is because of the urine stains that were there when we checked in. The best experience I had at Beach colony resort was the interaction with Courtney the bartender and the interaction with the DJ and the guy that does karaoke they were amazing. If I was asked about mass day or if I had to refer someone I would definitely recommend not to stay there if you're concerned about your sleeping arrangements but if you are looking for a good time with great team members I would definitely recommend Courtney the bartender. My family has enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach since I was about 5 years old. I went every year as a child and then stopped going with them for awhile, with a few exceptions: maybe one visit in college and a couple as an adult when I've been able to meet them at the beach. We have stayed at quite a few different condos and resorts in North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, etc. What a metamorphosis. (I'm talking about Myrtle Beach in general here, not just this resort.) It has become so crowded, even during the off-season, and resorts that were once probably luxurious and beautiful have now gone downhill. Beach Colony is no exception. This is one of the worst places that I've stayed at in MB. Tired decor. Needs a serious update. Dusty utility closet in the bathroom, which was making me sneeze. Mattress was hard. Kitchen didn't seem very clean. Very narrow parking deck, with room for only one vehicle coming around the corners. It made me nervous. I will say the landscaping was pretty, but the pool area was nothing special. Very average. Wi-fi signal wasn't great, but not terrible either. Please give your resort a little love. It could use a serious make-over. read more

Me and my family came and stayed here for our annual beach getaway for the weekend and it was absolutely horrible. The staff was not as friendly as they needed to be, meaning whenever we had issues and would go down and ask them about them, they didn't seem concerned, etc. There were bugs in the apartment. Roaches at that. Disgusting. There was a leak in the ceiling of one of the bedrooms and a leak from the drip pan for the air conditioning unit in the kitchen leaving water in the hall that people could slip on. The water drainage didn't really work AND to top everything off our phone didn't work either! IT'S BEEN A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! We're a family of 5, here for 5 days. The parking garage is AWFUL, my dad's truck got scraped going to the 2nd floor even though the women at the front desk told us not to park on the 1st floor. Not to mention it's SO TIGHT. The elevator system is so confusing and awful. The halls on the top floors aren't air conditioned and smell so bad. We got to our room and the view was incredible, but there was a dead cockroach on the balcony. That night, we saw 2 more on the balcony. Our room wasn't THAT BAD, no stains or anything, but the bathroom is pretty gross. The room is dated. We made it home for a week though, bought some bug spray and the stocked kitchen made it easy to cook dinners instead of going out. read more

Close to restaurants, attractions and shopping. We have really enjoyed our stays. Definitely could use some building updates which it seemed like They have been working on renovating. Warning!! Check your room before you check in and pay. Had a group of 15 golfers in 4 rooms stay at this hotel last week 10/14-10/19 in the 4 bedroom condos. My condo was beautiful. Clean and well furnished......unfortunately, one of the condos was utterly disgusting. Filthy, run down and each of the bathrooms were moldy. The only thing worse than this dump of a condo was the attitude of the management. Had a young gentlemen that attempted to help but he was replaced by someone that was belligerent and rude. Her fix was to send up someone to scrub the mold in the bathrooms. We tipped him and sent him away because it was futile. This place needs to be ripped down and deep cleaned. I'm still confused and outraged by the treatment of the front desk "manager". Do not stay here!!!! read more

OK, y'all. I'm going to give it to you straight, this resort is a hit or miss for all. Staying here is a gamble but fortunately my stay was pretty awesome. The reason for the three starts is that my family members weren't quite lucky. Let's start at the beginning... I came here for a family vacation and the hotel was chosen by a family member ahead of time. Once I was informed, I immediately Yelped for reviews and sunk down into a dark place after hearing the horror stories. I frantically looked for other resorts close by but all seemed to have the same reviews, unless I wanted to pay $400/night. So, I booked my room and hoped for the best. One thing that seemed odd to me is that when I booked the room, there was no confirmation email. Luckily I always screenshot a confirmation once I pay for anything, just in case. But at Beach Colony, my confirmation didn't come until the night before my reservation, weird. Anyway, we arrive at the resort a little early and hope they can accommodate an early check-in...Woo-hoo! My room was ready at noon! So my fiance and I unlock the door and hope for the best...we were pleasantly surprised! The room was great! Was the furniture dated? Sure, but it was clean and comfortable and the oceanfront view was breathtaking! There was a little kitchenette with pots and pans and cutlery and fresh towels. We received an itinerary of events when we checked in and there was a Polynesian luau that night. We were pretty tired from the long trip but were able to watch the full show from our balcony. The events for the remainder of the trip were pretty cool but geared more towards teenagers (glow party, ice cream social, etc.) Now my other family members, were not so lucky. Unfortunately, there rooms weren't ready when we arrived, so they had to occupy there time until housekeeping finished cleaning. When they finally got their rooms, they saw that their rooms were horrible! The carpet was dirty and smelled musty, the couch had HUGE dirt stains on them and the other furniture was just old and nasty. They went down to the front to see how they could make other accommodations. As shared by other Yelpers, the customer service is excellent. They were very understanding and gave my family other room options. We arrived at noon and my family were finally in there room by 6:30pm. They planned to get two three-bedroom suites but ended up having 4 two-bedroom suites. That was the only drawback (though a major one). After that was settled, we had a ball! Everyone loved the resort atmosphere and we had no other issues. They have 4 outdoor pools, including a lazy river which was perfect after spending the day at the beach. They also had an indoor pool and jacuzzi. There was a decent arcade room, a bar and restaurant (tho we never ate at the hotel). The resort is about a 10-minute drive to Broadway at the Beach which is an outdoor mall with other cool attractions and a carnival! There are also miniature golf spots, go-kart, and other beach mainstays nearby. All in all I would say just be ready for what you're getting yourself into. There is a chance that your room will smell like booty but know that they have no problem re-accommodating you. Also, my family was all adults with the exception of one 12 year old, so there was no hassle with little ones. read more

Our room was filthy, scratches all over the wall, and what looked to be blood stains on the carpet next to the bed. 2 of the days we were there 1 of the 2 elevators were out for a significant portion of the day. This used to be a nice place to stay, and I've stayed here many times over the last 20 years. After this experience, I doubt I'll be coming back. read more

Beach Colony Resort was awful in the first place. They had well breakfast, but horrible room service and room cleaning. We were given room 1200 when we asked for a low floor. The carpet was horrible and dirty. Then the lovely PM Manager gave us room 807. It was fine, but it had a very dirty couch. We really wanted to go to bed, so we just put a cover over it. They had a good performance on Wednesday, it was beautiful. About, their fire alarm went off 3 times, we are thinking someone was burning bacon. They had a wonderful fish fry. We asked for towels and toilet paper, they never got it for us. There was a lot of problems, however we still made it through a week. We will never go to Beach Colony Resort ever again. We've been coming to Beach Colony for 18 years. We stay in an off-rental condo that has been completely redone and is beautiful. It is an older resort that was built in the 80s but it has three big pools, two hot tubs, a lazy river, kiddie pool, arcade, racket ball court and small workout center. The laundry is big in case you need one while there. We don't use the maid service except at the end of the week but they have always done a good job. If you expect everything to be shiny and new, that's not what you are going to get. But if you want something that has the amenities of a nice resort that isn't on the main strip, this is a good spot. We will be back next year! read more

Where do i start, we went to this "resort" in July. 1st thing is the room we walked into was only the same shape and layout we booked on VRBO. Let me tell you, this place was disgusting. We called about the condition and they brought us up a broom "which they left it by the outside door" we tried to get moved but they claimed there were no rooms available we trued to Call VRBO many times with no acceptable hold time as we were on a very busy trip. We ended up going to walmart, purchasing supplies, and cleaning it ourselves. That was day 1, the following days were lets just say... less than fun. Our daughter was in the lazy river while a brother and sister no more than 6 or 7 were running and jumping on people in the lazy river, where the little girl proceeded to swim under my 14 year old daughter and bite her on the bottom. We reportes it and were told the management and security wouls not do anything because thats not something they have ever dealt with. We requested the property manager. We were told they would come to our room. The survailance video was reviewed and clearly showed what happened, but the man that came to our room basically told us we have to call the police and press charges... on the 8 year old!! And followed up with numerous racist comments which were very offensive. So the following days were pretty uneventful, but the last day our toilet wouldnt flush, so i removed the tank lid to look and the entire tank was cobered with black mold. Our daughter had been having a hard time with her breathing and the mold confirmed the cause. We arrived home and reached out to VRBO 17 times over the last 2 months, in which every time had to start over, tell the story and be told we will be escalated to another dept. We had talkex to the propwrty management company on 3 way calls with VRBO in which we were told by them that they were going to investigate and let us know about a refund, we heard nothing, and when we tried Gain and again they just hang up on us. Vrbo said it was escalated and we would get a decision in a week. 3 weeks went by with no contact so i called. Was told our dispute of charges were denied because we didnt report the mold we found on day 5 within the first 24 hours. WE HAVE CONTACTED AN ATTORNY. My family and I were staying at a TERRIBLE hotel (Sun N Sand Resort) during our Spring Break trip and I decided to book this one as our refuge. They were VERY nice and understanding when I explained our ordeal to them over the phone. The staff made sure all of my complaints about the terrible hotel (Sun N Sand Resort) would not be duplicated and they made our stay very pleasurable The game room was spacious and entertaining. Also, when one of their machines did not work after inserting tokens, the staff QUICKLY issued a refund. All of their pools were beautiful. The hotel is right on the beach and our view was breathtaking. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the narrow parking deck, but that wasn't TOO much of a problem. On our last night, the front desk called our room JUST to make sure everything was enjoyable. This was a very pleasant surprise and one I've never experienced. Just goes to show that the people at Beach Colony care about their guests and the service provided. LOVE THEM!! Will GLADLY book again. read more

The only thing good about this place was the location to the beach! This is the most disgusting dirty rancid place I have ever stayed in my whole life. Parking is horrendous getting to and from your car as well. Now let's get to the room. Upon entering our 2 bedroom 2 bath Angle ocean front condo the place itself is nice but it is complete filth! You would think being Covid and all things would be cleaner but NOPE!!!!! Our 2nd bedroom had cheese doodles and dust behind the night stand, an open bottle of gatorade behind the door and a shovel under the bed is a platform. In the main bedroom was a bar of EOS soap or something from previous guests. There was just dust & dirt everywhere INCLUDING THE BATHROOMS and Let's talk about the extra guests we had in the kitchen...Not 1 but 2 roaches were found!!!!! I know that roaches are prone to heat and to be expected in hot climates but when you have them in the kitchen that comes from dirt! They had the audacity to tell us we had to leave the condo so they can clean and when we left and came back it was no better than when we left. I can go on and on. The people are rude and do not care that guests pay a lot of money to stay there. I will never ever ever recommend this place and will tell anyone to stay FAR FAR FAR AWAY!!!! These people should be ashamed of themselves on how they can steal peoples money and not care. This was the most disappointing travel experience in my 50+ years of traveling this amazing country. We had reservations and arrived on time. Thank G-D that the room wasn't ready. As a substitute, we were presented with another room (larger and nicer). The wear, tear and overall neglect in this room's condition made us go downstairs to the front desk and let them know that we will indeed wait for the room that we had originally reserved. We left, had lunch, walked around for an hour or so and then we returned. Again, we waited for our room. Finally received the key, we made our journey up to the room. OMG, it was as bad as the the other room they tried to put us in. My wife and daughter pointed out that the toilet seat's surface was scratched, scuffed and missing chunks. Are you kidding me? There was an odor of vomit in the room that my daughter was going to take as hers. The pots and pans that were in the "kitchen" were in similar condition. Worn out, beat up and put away wet (clean? Who knows?). Again, we made our way down to that sad, sad lobby full of disappointed guests, and let the front desk know that we would not be staying. We explained why, the young lady was so nice, but she looked as if she has heard all of this before. I feel very bad about writing this, I always think that if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it. However, I would feel worse if other families were to be put in a similar situation. We ended up at another property, on the beach, in North Myrtle Beach and it was everything we had hoped the Old Colony would have been. Be forewarned. Stay away. read more

Immediately went downstairs for festivities. Waitresses not very friendly at the inside bar. Flies were landing on people's food at the outside bar and still being served. Upon returning, we noticed the bed skirt was filthy. We take our own linen so when we pulled the sheets back, we saw long strands of hair. Turned on the kitchen light and saw roaches, need I say more. Called the first desk. Staff was extremely friendly! Immediately brought up another key and moved us to 1802. Our thought: if 1805 had roaches, 1802 had roaches. So we asked to be moved to CaravelLuckily we didn't bring any home but who wants to take that chance! Zoom in on the photo. My family stayed at this establishment (and I use this word loosely) for a week vacation. The check in process is horrendous and we were informed that "check in begins at 4pm, but is not guaranteed". We were not given a room until after 6pm. Given the delay, I was informed by the staff person checking me in, that they would compensate a night stay and extend out check out date. The initial room we were given, was in deplorable condition, there were numerous stains on the carpet, rips in the carpet, and the furniture in the room was in such a state we were leary to sit down it. Given the issues with check in and the room, I requested a new room, which was given. The house keeping staff is lacking. Our room was never serviced in the time we were there (5days) and we had to call and request towels daily. The sheets were stained, as well as the comforters they use. When I went to confirm the extended day check out, I was informed that I was never given a compensated night. I asked to speak to a manger and was given a supervisor who told me repeatedly she was trying to get a hold of a manger, who never came to work. We were yelled at by the "supervisors" and eventually told they would comp a night however it would be in a room that would not accommodate my family of 3 adults and 3 children. I have never in all my years of traveling and vacationing experienced such poor customer service. One staff person allowed an elevator door to shut on me while I was carrying bags of groceries. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy! Because I had to rate a the stars to be able to post, I rated it a one, but honestly, I wouldn't even give it that! read more

My family and I stayed here 6/16/17-6/18/17 and I never want to return. First off the parking deck is really small (one car at a time) the safety patrols were terrible! It's as if they were incapable of directing traffic, every time we were leaving they were taking a smoke break. The lazy river also lacked security. I understand that this location allows children but to have them outside unsupervised was a bit too much. The kids rarely used the tubes (which the river was made for) and when they did they were stacking them on top of each other and jumping in! The water was 2 feet! They could of seriously hurt themselves. They were swimming underneath guests which caused many people got out the water because they were beyond reckless. Even after complaints were made nothing was done. Room 412 is where my family stayed and it was very outdated to say the least. It wasn't filthy but it wasn't necessarily spotless either. The toilets wobbled.. and the staff didn't really want to give out towels.. But on a positive note They did have certain nights where you could participate in a fish fry or whatever else they were cooking downstairs for a fee of around $10-12. And it's lots to do in the area. $20 helicopter rides.. go karts.. arcades.. museums etc... read more

Awful place. Every place may have issues, but this has too many to count, and no one can solve them: apparently the homeowner's association oversees everything and the hotel staff have no authority. When you want to address the homeowner's assoc, they have a useless rep, who tells you to call the property management company. The buck stops nowhere. Problems include the parking garage and the aggressive and disrespectful guy who oversees it (Roger, you won't forget it), poor housekeeping, scary elevator, people smoking weed on balconies, uncomfortable beds and furniture...you name it, it's a problem. To be fair, the front desk staff and night manager Mike really want to help. Unfortunately, they have no authority to correct things, and genuinely seem to recognize the problems that guests have. I hope they find a better place to work. In short: STAY AWAY. read more

First of all at check in we were charged our amount left for our stay but they kept saying they had a new system and it wasn't showing our payment if it didn't show we would have to leave. After checking my bank account the payment was showing made to them but they continued to say we hadn't paid. Next day the Manager said it was their new system enjoy our stay. the day before we left pool guy left cover off causing me to fall the guy left it off just walked off wouldn't even help me to get up. The day we left they took another payment out of our account so we paid twice for one stay. when I got home I filed papers with my bank disputing the charge in order to get them to take me seriously. This was after even showing them the day of checking in that it showed on my account. I will never be staying with them again. this was the worst place ever to stay. What happened to the customer is always right. read more

Highly recommend if you don't mind housekeeping not doing their job. They only thing they are good for is stealing stuff from your room. Don't be fooled by the photos this place is a dump. read more
